1. uhm if ur phone crashed, did u do a system restore?
2. i would be so mad if they deny me service and accuse me of opening my phone, not to mention accuse my cousin. u should escalate this one way or the other, to the store or over the phone.
3. show them ur receipt.

I think this entire thread was BS. Notice how the op has vanished.

Based on what I've seen here over the last few years it's no surprise that Apple has gotten harsher with it's return and exchange policy, especially if the warranty on the device has been voided. I'm not sure why a receipt is going to help there, it just proves that bought the phone, not what happened to it in the time between purchase and being brought into the store.

In this kind of thread, we always hear one side of the story, by a party who is obviously biased. The information presented will support what that party wants; any contradicting information will not be given. Would be interesting to hear the genius's story.

About the "damage void due to opening": Clearly there was _some_ damage. We haven't been told what the damage was. We have been told that the phone was working for some time and then stopped working. We have been told that someone opened the phone, was careless enough to leave visible finger prints, and was careless enough to lose a screw when putting the phone back together.

We don't _know_ what the actual damage was, but if there is mechanical damage _inside_ the phone, and the damage is such that the phone couldn't have been working with that damage, then I'd take that as evidence that the damage happened while someone had opened the iPhone. Enough evidence so that the phone owner would lose any court case about it.

Or the OP doesn't sit on forums all day long everyday, just like the majority of the population (perhaps unlike the majority here and many other places online, all of which represent a minority of the overall population).

Alternatively, the OP got somewhat disheartened by all the essentially unhelpful replies littering and taking over the thread and doesn't see the value of updating anymore since not only would it likely not help given the turn the thread took so quickly, but would likely simply subject the OP to further unhelpful ridicule (on one level or another).

Maybe he should be honest with himself and the rest of us when he posts. There are too many variables that are unknown in his story. He didn't get his way and he's pissed. He was called out on it and if he provided answers to the questions that were asked. The members here would be more than willing to provide help if they can. My take, he probably acted like a child pitching a hissy fit when they wouldn't warranty his iPhone, instead of acting like an adult. Thats usally what happens to people when they dont get thier way, especially when they feel they deserve something. I take this from the way he wrote his post. "I didnt demand". No ****, you cant demand anything. You may ask, but that is all. So on and so on.

There are likely other variables in play, but what's with the various assumptions, especially with lack of any information about those variables (or even of their existence)? There's little to nothing to support pretty much any of the assumptions, yet they seem to be given more weight than any actual provided information and end up overtaking the thread.

I think it comes down to the same as the "forgot my passcode" threads. Most of them are just trying to get something they know they shouldn't. The OP has obviously left out information, and if you're trying to get an accurate assessment of the situation. You would think the poster would provide all the available information. If we we're to pull up these type of threads from the past, i'd think we would find that most have an attitude and have not given full information. At least until other members said something about the numbers not adding up.

No, he wasn't "Called out on it", he was attacked and belittled. Very nice way to welcome a new member. If it was me I wouldn't come back to the thread either. Whatever happened to giving (especially newcomers) a benefit of a doubt? Some of you people just disgust me.#

You can not sit there, read that post and not feel that something isn't being told properly. There have been too many of these type of threads. That's why "us people" respond with questions regarding the whole truth.

People get the benefit of the doubt. But with a story like this. It doesn't add up. No ones just going to throw a detail in like "your cousin". How does he know that he has one??? If he had said friend, then it would've had more credibility.

COOL STORY BRO!!!!

It reminds me of the time I took my brand new Galaxy S3 in because it kept bursting into flames and scaring little children (what doesn't?). The dude at the Samsung store whipped out a Lenovo IdeaPad (no idea why, just go with it), and he said it was happening all over with the SGS3 and that it was working "normally".

I hopped on my dragon and got the heck outta there.

Can you believe it!?!?!

So wait, if a post is total BS, but it's NOT a first time poster, it has credibility???

SWEET!!!

GIMMME MAH CREDS BRUTHAS!!!!
