so much speculation on a part that looks like a combination of the cdma iphone 4 + gsm iphone 4

for all we know apple could simply be updating the iPhone 4 GSM so that its similar to the CDMA antenna design

I don't buy any size increase/changes until I see some apple/samsung branding on the supposedly larger display

I hope this is true because I bought the htc inspire 4g and now miss my iPhone 4 but I won't go back till they put atleast a 4 inch screen on the iPhone. Crossing my fingers!!

Well well, European standards to make a difference! I think if you look at the 2nd picture, (to me) a 30-pin dock connector is present and that little grove? Looks like microUSB to comply with European charging standards. Only time will tell I guess...

It's the SIM tray.

4 inch is too small. We need atleast the .3 inch more to compete with HTC and others.

What comes to iPhone 4 screensize, it is straight from 2007... :( Would be wonderful if Apple could introduce iPhone "nano" and iPhone "pro".

The battery life is horrible on 4" screened phones....I know because my brothers phone is always dead....

IMO, that is the frame for the iPhone 4G. I bet it will work with AT&T and Verizon. No iPhone 5 for at least a year boys and girls.
You must be new. Apple has routinely introduced an updated version of the phone every year. Either that, or you are playing the naming game of the phone and thinking that this next upgrade cycle will not be called iPhone 5.

Either way, there will be an improved phone that is released this summer regardless of name.

If you look at the pics, this has a SIM slot, which the CDMA iphone does not, so this may well be the iphone 5 which has a larger screen in a similar size form factor.

Interesting...I am hoping the 5 will be a nice step up from the 4, not just a 3gs style upgrade.

Minor / no physical update and major internal update? Sounds good to me!

As long as they give me a 64Gb version and amend the antenna design, the thing can be identical for all I care :)

it will never happen.
It will probably happen in the form of an adapter that plugs into the 30pin connector. I have read other places that this is acceptable under EU standards.
Not to mention, it would be difficult to move away from the ecosystem that has already been created around the 30 pin connector. I don't think (correct me if I am wrong) that the micro USB can provide the same functionality as the 30 pin connector.

You mean you didn't put two and two together when these images first appeared?

Err... no 4G aka LTE until 2012.

P.S. What do you think comes after number 4?

P.S What do you think comes after 3G? I bet you had no clue it was 'S'

I think he was saying that if the next iPhone is an iPhone 4x (x being whatever letter) then the one on 2012 won't be an iPhone 5 because that poops on numerical order...

In reply to this post, I have a 4 so I won't e getting this years model but I sure hope they start making larger screens!

No. 1 wish - increased battery life!

Can't eally use a 4 inch screen if my iPhone dies halfway through the day

Ever seen an iPhone 4?

Yeah that's the sim card slot in the second photo detective - I don't know how many times I've posted on this forum about this Euro Standards thing, but for the last time - Apple will NOT need to put a microUSB port on the actual phone. If they did have to do that, they would be doing it already - get over it. Geeez!

What do they mean by 3Q of 2011? it means it wont come put in june-july??:(

I think Q3-4 probably has been the plan the whole time since the Verizon phone screwed up the cycle, but now they can place partial blame on Japan and it's all roses. ;) The sooner they can get ATT and Verizon on the same hardware and release schedule the better. Mo $$$$$!

If the next iPhone doesn't have 4G cellular service, which it most likely won't, then there's no way they're going to call it the iphone 4G. That would just confuse consumers.

Most likely expect the next one to be called the iPhone 5 and the one after that to be called, can ya guess? iPhone 6.

Apple most likely called the 3GS what they did so that they could get back on the numerical cycle instead of calling it the 4 and having their 4th generation product (iPhone 4) be called the 5.

My guess based on all these rumours:

iPhone 4s (speed): Same design with 4" screen, same processor as iPad 2, 32/64Gb, focus on performance improvements

iPhone Nano/3Gs: 8/16Gb, free on contract, much cheaper on pre-paid/PAYG
