I just thought of something. Maybe Apple is indeed steering away from the current formfactor to make sure they don't look like the samsung-clones anymore. Maybe Apple doesn't want to be asociated with cheap clones by keeping the current formfactor?

Edit. And give Apple an excuse (blaming samsung) to get away from the current mediasensitive antenna.

That could be one of the reasons, good thinking!

I don't know the legitimacy of the picture, it's still hard to tell, but it's definitely a prototype of a future iPhone.

The cases speak for themselves, i think we can expect a fantastic upgrade this time.

I think that this iPhone 5 is going to be a brick. I like that the screen size will increase, but perhaps not the ideal size I would prefer.

4-inch seems like the sweet spot for me especially for a touchscreen phone. If the dimensions of this case is closer to actual phone, this iPhone 5 will be taller and wider than the Samsung Galaxy S II. Looks like I may have to stick with my iPhone 4 for much longer because my hands are not big enough to wrap my hand around it like that and I do have normal-sized hands for a 5'10 person. This iPhone 5 is going to be the iBrick. The XPERIA PLAY has the most perfect height and width for me while still having a 4-inch screen. Only knock is its depth at 16mm and its weight at 176g.

Galaxy S II
Height: 125.3 mm (4.89 inches)
Width: 66.1 mm (2.58 inches)
Thickness: 8.5 mm (0.33 inches)

My ideal dimensions

Height: 120mm or less
Width: 62mm or less (like the first four gens of iPhones)
Thickness: 8mm-12mm

Another one spotted in the wild! Someone foolishly dropped it. I can tell from the glint of light on the home button that it must be an iPhone 5. I'm pretty sure I see some new icons on the home screen too.

its a 3gs

apple wouldnt go back to the volume rocker. they just implemented the volume up button as a camera snap in the new ios. theyre going to be all about keeping it separate. and it looks thinner and whatnot because there isnt much light on it you cant see the full shape. before i read anything i said why is there a picture of a 3gs.

although i would like to see a squared back with rounded edges as the back and a soft touch metal similar to the ipad backing but colored black or white.

thats my ideal rear-iphone design.
