iPhone 5 - Is on, but nothing shows up on screen

iphone5 is on but my screen is completely black

my ihpone5 is on and my screen went completely black....i can hear the sisri voice comand bad thing is that power button is also not working.... any suggestion on how to get it working

My iPhone 5c screen just went black I haven't dropped it or anything but I tried resetting it on iTunes but did not work sounds and buttons still work

Have you tried resetting it? Hold the power button + home button until it reboots. Once you see the Apple logo, let go of the buttons.

Since my lock button doesnt work I let my phone die and then plugged it back in and let it charge. This seemed to work

Hi Friend,

Just do one thing press the power-button and home-button until its show the apple logo which means its rebooting. after you just power on by pressing the power-button.

It's not necessary to repeat the instructions that are woven all thru this thread. The same remedy has been repeated over and over again and the instructions for it have not changed.

when my phone like that i keep pressing the home button to activate siri continously until the battery dead and charge it again and then it showed the iphone icon and working like before

another way some people said that log in find my iphone on icloud > all defice > iphone > erased phone
but i never used that 'cause it reset phone all of them and i dont want that

Yea my phone did that and i did everything i was told to do when i looked it up and it still doesnt work... and i never dropped my phone at all, as a matter of fact i just got my screen fixed at the apple store like 3 months ago for something else. my phone just went black and u can kind see it try to light up but you still cant see aything on the screen but blackness. it doesnt make alot of sense i know lol but thats exactly why i need help

It simply restarts the phone, nothing more (no changes in data or settings or anything else).

My iPhone 5s done the same thing last night.
The screen was black but I could hear Siri,
I reset the iPhone but I couldn't see the apple logo.
I knew it was resetting as the vibrate button was not vibrateing when I tryed it?
I let my iphone die over night
and this morning I check Siri. Siri didn't work.
I knew my iPhone had died so I put it on charge and it worked!!

Don't know if its software problems?

Many odd occurrences are remedied by doing a Reset (hold Power & Home buttons simultaneously, releasing both when you see the apple on the black screen.) How often is it happening to you? Some glitches are sporadic and some are non-repeaters. Either situation would be a PITA but not necessarily a sign of impending disaster.

Additionally, YouTube videos are no indication of how widespread any situation is. They frequently exaggerate the overall impact and seek to enhance their own importance; they should be taken with a grain of salt.

HERE IS A SOLUTION:
Well here is my personal hack with the same problem. I need to restart my iphone but phone wasnt working as if someone calls on my no. it rings... as well as siri speaks but after few seconds of pause. lol.. she is too slow coz the iphone memory was about to full... 200MB was remaining out of 27GB. That was the problem.

What i did is I called on my no. again and again from another cellphone to low its battery percentage. i called and called and its switched off then plug phone into charging and it will restarts and its done... yaaayyyyy!!!!

NOTE: this happened coz of not enough memory in iphone otherwise apple never hangs that much.

I started having this drama last week when I updated to IOS 10.0.1. Within a day or two I had frozen icons and screen go dark while Siri was still working. I did the home and on button hold down and it worked, for now. Has anyone decided to just go back to IOS 9? I was going to try that but the instructions are so complicated. I've only been an iPhone user for 6 months so I don't know much.

My Iphone 5 screen had gone blank all of a sudden and was working just fine calls, siri etc. I just pressed the home and power button together for 10 seconds and the phone got rebooted and the problem was resolved. Hope it is helpful. Thanks

All of that has been pointed out already throughout the thread too. Not sure if there was much need to bring that up months and years later. Are you trying to say that you are having an issue and trying to find a way to resolve it?
