Ordered in Ireland.

Thinking that it might be better to make the trip to Belfast instead though.

Just thought that, pricey enough. Based on the 32Gb at £599 equates roughly to €752 so price in petrol, parking not far off €789 in Ireland

I may sleep on it.

Up and running in Ireland 3-4 weeks delivery.

Price is shocking this year... €899 for 64GB  That's nearly an extra €100 for .5 inches :p

Which is now making the iPhone 5 significantly more expensive than any other unlocked smartphone on the market. As much as I love my Apple gadgets that's a lot of mulla.

Even on Vodafone 24 month contract a 64GB is going to set you back €299-449. :(

I suspect the bigger capacity models are not going to be big sellers on any of the mobile carriers.

Because a commonly accepted definition of responsibility is to complete one commitment before taking on another? Because the people that have ordered, and have ALREADY PAID have fair expectation of having a product in hand before someone who hasn't?

Is that enough or do you need more?
They allready announced international availability, dumbass. Should apple go back on that due to high demand elsewhere? And btw, what would you have apple do? ship all those Model A1429 foxcon are producing to US customers?

Great! Keep launching in more countries and you don't have any in stock at your company owned stores in the US.

Price of iPhone at Apple Store Czech Republic:

iPhone 4 8GB - 480 USD
iPhone 4S 16GB - 700 USD

iPhone 5 16 GB - 825 USD
iPhone 5 32 GB - 950 USD
iPhone 5 64 GB - 1075 USD

Well, definitely not cheap...

Well Ireland, France and Germany are

16 - 876 USD
32 - 1020 USD
64- 1160 USD

So just slightly cheaper in the Czech Republic ;)

That being said I don't know what the average income/salary is in the Czech Republic compared to those other countries

Prices in Portugal are crazy!!

Prices here in Portugal are completely crazy ...

I really don't get Apple policy ...

in PT the iPhone 5 64GB = 919 euros (around 1187 USD)

In Portugal the tax (IVA) is 23%, so .. without tax the phone will be around 707 euros (around 913 USD)

What's the unlocked price in the US again?! (edit: for the 64GB version, it's 848 USD)

Why does Apple always does this to european customers?! (even ignoring taxes, we always have an "extra" charge)

... no comments

So you have same Vat rate as Ireland but are charged €20 more? Yep that seems fair :/

Omg you people are so ridiculous. No one to reducing Americans of iPhones. When the iPhone was announced stock was given to these countries before release. Other countries will face delays as well once it starts selling.

So should every American get iPhones before the rest of the world gets one?

As an American I get tired of other Americans like you who think America comes first. There is a world outside here that deserves overpriced igadgets just like us . So what you got to wait 3 weeks to get an iPhone? That's a first world problem.

The only argument I can see is that Apple is a US company.

Average salary in Czech Republic after taxes is about 1000 USD / month... So these iPhones are quite expensive... We have it as much expensive as in Germany (conversion EUR-CZK) but I guess we have better exchange rate to dollar - that's why it's slightly cheaper in dollars, cause I'm not converting from EUR to USD but from CZK to USD...

Shop done

Price does not matter when you love the thing.
Just ordered the most expensive iPhone on earth :) , and that is probably in Denmark.

What i don't understand is the 50 euros price difference (after removing taxes) comparing to the US phones prices.

It's the same thing with laptops ... Always an additional 100 euros ...

I don't get this ... All stuff comes from china anyway, so it's not a transportation added price ...

Well, guys... So which model did you order? Mine's gonna be 32GB white :) Can't wait for it to come home :D

Sorry, the market is supposed to be free

This American won't complain about the world getting an iPhone before I do. I'll be purchasing a 64GB unlocked version. I'll be paying full price to avoid carrier extortion.

It is unfortunate I can't pay full price from day one, rather than waiting behind those being tied to a cell phone carrier contractually for two years. Sad, but understandable.:)

It is not different here in the US. I am with T-mobile. I too have to wait until Apple sells unlocked versions after they have met the demand from partner carriers such as AT&T and Verizon etc. Right now all contract phones are locked in the US as well.

Just FYI for some of you internationally where the iPhone 5 launch is happening today in your country (Friday 28th), as we in New Zealand get to see the light of the new day first...

In NZ all our phones are unlocked across all carriers, HOWEVER today on launch day, all physical retail stores were only selling iPhone 5's on the condition that you purchase the phone on a locked-in, 24 month plan.
The two largest carriers here held midnight launch parties in all major cities, with other, normal retail stores nationwide opening with product this morning at normal business hours (however still requiring a purchase with a plan).

Apple released an E-Mail to customers (for those subscribed to product news) at about 3am this morning (NZ time) and the website was updated shortly later. According to many waiting (http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=76&topicid=109084&page_no=29), any orders placed at Apple NZ online had the following shipping estimates (myself included):

Ships: 3 - 4 Weeks
Delivers 29/10/2012 - 02/11/2012 via Standard Shipping

So looks like they don't have stock set aside for each country (at least not from our experience and we have the same shipping estimates as the US!), unfortunately we don't have any Apple stores here to buy direct from without going to a carrier. Those looking to buy a phone outright might want to stand in line at your local Apple store if you have one!

Not saying that this is going to be the same in every country but this is what happened here in NZ, at least - Hope that this info helps someone! :)

Where's all the god damn iPhone 5's?

Tim, can you get your ass over to china and crack the whip. I need my *****in iphone.

This is still uhmerica god damnit! Our country is falling apart, need something good to happen here. F all those other countries.

I think Tariff and Customs duty is low in the US. In addition the retail workers and rents are not high as Europe. You should visit the US just to shop! I can barely buy any product in any country I travel. The US has the cheapest clothes food, and everything. Europe is too expensive for me!

Tim: But you know we have to borrow a trillion dollars each year from all those other countries. We need to keep them happy so they will let our politicians keep spending borrowed money while our federal reserve keeps interest rates at near 0.

In Belgium, the new iPhone 5 is 40 euros more expensive than in The Netherlands. We get f*cked every single time. I bought my 16GB white one just now, 3/4 weeks shipping time!

Then move to Holland, language should be no problem for you:rolleyes:

Wow, yeah, you're right! Let's move to another country for a cellphone!

----------

Why the hell are they launching iPhone 5 in some silly little countries when there's not availability in the US? They should meet demand in the most important nations of the world first, and then, and only then, should Apple consider launching iPhone 5 elsewhere.
