Doesn't anyone find this sad? people literally camping out for a phone... Don't get me wrong I'm updating my 3Gs to a 32 iPhone 5 because I think its pretty damn slick but I also "need" a new phone. My phone has been over to Afghanistan 3 times and survived garrison in the Marine corps since it was released however I think I can wait a for my pre-order to get here and still be ok.

I don't find it sad as such, to each their own and it's up to a person what they do with their time. In my younger days when I was a real gaming nerd, I would do the midnight launches for new consoles, but personally I'd rather take launch day off work, pre-order online, and sit at home watching Sky Sports News with a cup of coffee and wait for the delivery truck to arrive. :D

Heh, I still think it's crazy how so many people do this. I understand waiting a few hours if it's something you really want, but these people camp for days. Are they using sick days or what? It's not like you can't just preorder and have it sent to your doorstep on day one.

You'll find that these lines began, at most, yesterday. No one's camped out for days. I hear there's around 80-100 people at the Glasgow store in Buchanan Street, and the queue began forming around dinner time last night.

Glasgow Apple Store

Anyone at the Apple store in Glasgow, Scotland? I'll be landing there midnight and considering going there in the am. Any news/info on stock at that store will be appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm not at the store, but if you're landing at in Glasgow at midnight, you're 5 and a half hours late! It's 05:30am here. From what I hear there's between 80 and 100 people at Buchanan Street already for the 8am opening. You'll get one today, they won't sell out of units in store.

I seriously want to drive around town and see how many people are lining up at their local bestbuy or apple... im actually excited for them lol :)

I did just that. There were around 50 people waiting at an IL suburban Apple store at 9 P.M. It was around 52 degrees F then going down to 48 degrees overnight.

Yeah actually land on the 22nd so I am one full day late. Lol.

One last question, they open at 10am right? I might just try my luck and go there in the morning.

Thanks a lot for the info!

Yeah, from memory they open at 10am but will allow people in for Genuis Bar appointments from 9am onward. So you could maybe book a Genius Bar appointment for something mundane, then say "While I'm in, can I have an iPhone 5 please"? lol :D

Hahaha I like how u think! Right up my alley. I actually need them to have a look at my old MacBook for battery service so I have a valid excuse. ;)

Thanks a lot man.

Hey guys I'm the iSheep in the front of the photo and all night long we were hearing the same lame jokes I've read in this thread. So original! To answer most questions: Yes, I do have a job. Yes, I do have a hot wife. Yes, I do have an iLife. Yes, I do have an iPhone 5.

I've never done anything like this before so I did it for the experience and dare say I enjoyed it. They provided us with the leather armchairs, outdoor heaters, security guards to protect us from drugged up hobos, served us food, water and Starbucks..

Some people should stop being sad losers on the Internet insulting people for their choice of phone or method of obtaining it. You do what you what, we'll do what we want.

BTW I'm loving the phone's speeds and the screen size feels really natural.

Leather armchairs? Outdoor Heaters? Starbucks?! What kind of camp out is this? Sounds like a hipster hangout then dedication.

Lol hipster hangout, maybe in a couple of years if apple decide to open a store here i will get my chance to camp for one :D

Nice one!

Steve Jobs would have definitely approve this treatment to Apple customers. Hahaha.

Awesome. :D

Guys chill out! Camping out is always fun. Camping out with fellow geeks is AWESOME! I have my own business and am now an empty nester so I have a good deal of control over my free time. Something I earned through hard work and commitment to things bigger than myself. I think these little things (whatever we choose them to be) are what makes it all worth while. Fun is fun. The haters can hate, but we get the last laugh. Cheers :).

We said.
Guys it's not waste of time, have you done this before, I guess not then shut up and let people enjoy doing this, you don't know how much fun is this.

You talk about waste of time ? Really!!!!

What you doing in this blog? Waste of time.

Stopped by Verizon. Was told each store is getting 4 16GB

I just picked up a couple of 16GBs (1 x white, 1 x black) at a Verizon store in Los Angeles. The activation process was a bit tedious, but the queue was not so long. They definitely have a lot more than 4.

Fired up. Alarm did not go off on per order day so did not order until that morning I got the two week/Oct 5th message. Just checked and they are in the process of shipping.
