"We've decided to switch to Windows Phone 8!"

probably accurate I suppose. But I do wonder if he really cares about all of this leakage, (esp the google search engine hits). Does he deem his team at all responsible.

Maybe he pays little mind to it rather than how Steve did. IDK

They might start to care if last quarter's "earning miss" becomes a more rampant problem next year. Cook blamed the rumors for the comparatively low iPhone sales. Estimates will be all over the place this quarter because undoubtedly 4S sales dropped even more, but the 5 will have a full week of sales (including launch weekend) in this quarter.

Of course, if you release phones roughly every 12 months, this is what is going to happen. That's why I had been thinking (before the invitations went out) that they might go the "new iPhone" route with naming like they did with the new iPad. That would give them the liberty to make tweaks mid-cycle to keep the phone fresh. They still may do that, but for now it seems that the numbering scheme will remain.

Why did they call the iPad 3 the new iPad?

NANO is a useless device now.

So disappointed in what apple did in making a "mini me" of the touch. Used as a watch it made total sense. Now we are subjected to buying something else to give us our messages to a watch like device.

Would have made sense to make the old Nano the new Shuffle.

The new Nano looks ugly!

You are absolutely wrong. Why are you thinking so incredibly closed minded? Why can NFC only be used for in-store payments?

NFC is a technology used all over Europe and Asia. Just to give you an example: for public transport systems.

NFC is used all over Europe and Asia for transport systems.
NFC-on-phone is used practically nowhere, even in Europe and Asia.

The MDM9615M supports a protocol called GOBI, which is used for nearby networking like hand held games, reading power meters, and other ad hoc networking features, like PAYMENT SYSTEMS.

Ugh, no.

Gobi is the marketing name for a series of cellular modems. Not a protocol.

The graphics you're looking at are for devices Qualcomm suggests would benefit from integrated cell modems. This isn't a personal-area-network advertisement, it's a cellular chipset ad.

We always had these kind of leaks on launch day. That said, we have had a lot of leaks in the past month. I suspect some were intentional (Apple sees Samsung's press releases, too, and also got a decent look at sales data from the trial), though not all were.

On a side note, what LTE frequencies does the MDM9615M support?

MDM9615 probably supports all or most frequencies. But it's the support electronics that determine what the phone can connect to.

It looks like there's 3 different radio configs for the iPhone 5, according to http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
