16gb or 32gb base?

Here's my question:

When are they going to increase the base flash memory from 16gb to 32gb? The phone has been at 16gb since the 3gs (3gs, 4, 4s).

With no external storage, we're forced to pay $100 more just for 16gb of additional memory which is ridiculous.

I'll be pretty upset (though not surprised) when they release this model with 16gb again.

1 = iPhone
2 = iPhone 3G
3 = iPhone 3GS
4 = iPhone 4
5 = iPhone 4S
6 = today's announcement (assuming they announce a new phone)

What - can you really not count ?

Oh i get it now. 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S,.....:confused:.....6! I'm guessing you struggled with patterns as a kid.

That's like saying square, triangle, square, triangle, oval.

Regarding the name, it's should have been clear after the 3G (second generation iPhone) that the names were model numbers and not generation numbers. The 4 was purely coincidental that it followed the 3GS and was also the fourth generation iPhone.

It's now abundantly clear we will always have a new model then a modified S model, the next iPhone will be the iPhone 5S, not the iPhone 6 (or 7 as some will claim it should be).

What's the difference if you lost your car keyfob instead?
My phone is typically in my hand or pocket and when I travel my car keys are stored safely in my laptop bag. It's the second phone that I've lost (last one was about 9 years ago) and I've never lost my car keys :)

They might keep it at 16gb to push their iCloud. With HD video and 8mp camera 16GB is not enough.

blah I wish someone would find the original photo. It looks like it was water marked thus the gray bars.

Then we can decode the part number and see what possible size might see.

FYI the size is the 5&6 digit for hynix, its clearly blocked.

Funny. I spend quite a bit of time in Silicon Valley (a lot by Google's campus no less) and rarely see places where I would be able to use NFC.

Leo Laporte says he can use his Google Wallet at Peets.....and that's it. More places take Square than Google Wallet. :D

Good post, very interesting with Passbook on deck and the whole question (though seemingly answered) about NFC.
Yep.

Currently to add an iPad to your new data pooled, device pooled plan (ATT/VZW) is $10 each. Would a MTM device be $5?

Rocketman

How bout stop geeking out and just wait a few minutes to find out from the horse's mouth! I'll bet it's very different than everyone thinks anyway.

This debate was over last week. However, are you a lawyer or something?
what is with "assuming they anounce a new phone"

I think we can be sure that the iphone5 will be unveiled today.

Well, at least they didn't go with Micron for the Nand. Still, get ready for a lot of recalls and failures due to the hynix nand. Here's a hint they have some astonishingly high failure rates.

A6 yay

Thats what I've been looking for all my life!!

Yay

Lol what great marketing / people don't even know what it means but we like it cuz its catchy

What exactly did Tim C mean on doubling down on secrecy?
I am being serious here too. Next year maybe?

Probably on new devices such as the iPad Mini and/or iTV (if it exists). He specifically mentioned secrecy around acquisitions during that same interview.

We also have had no lost phones in bars lately.

Uh...perhaps you don't realize Apple has been using Hynix NAND for a while now? The 4s uses Hynix NAND.

probably accurate I suppose. But I do wonder if he really cares about all of this leakage, (esp the google search engine hits). Does he deem his team at all responsible.

Maybe he pays little mind to it rather than how Steve did. IDK

Steve had the same leaks and worse. Those lost iPhones happened during Steve's reign. We had tons of parts leaks as well under Steve.
