I've said several times that I wish they would stuff all the guts of the 4S into the shell of the original iPhone.

You think everyone is complaining how dated the iphone is now? If they did that......

The iphone is simply the best looking phone to date and always have been.
I like the design of the iphone like I like the design of the porsche 911. No matter how many times they used the same basic design it still looks good. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it..:D

Apple only releases a new iPhone every year around October/September. Apple's iPhone terribly needs a redesign. Your argument is invalid.

Wait what?

iPhone - June 29, 2007
iPhone 3G - July 11, 2008
iPhone 3GS - June 19, 2009
iPhone 4 - June 24, 2010
iPhone 4S - October 14, 2011
New iPhone - September 21, 2012 (Expected)

Your statement is not valid.

I've said several times that I wish they would stuff all the guts of the 4S into the shell of the original iPhone.

You would sacrifice reception though... The external antenna of the 4S works better than the older internal antenna's.

Please, for the love of God people, the next iPhone is NOT going to be called the "iPhone 5" It doesn't even make sense. The NEXT iPhone will be the 6th Generation iPhone. WHY WOULD THEY CALL IT THE 5?

Product History: iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S

It would make more sense to call it the iPhone 6 or iPhone LTE.

"Omg. You guys, it should be Windows 6 because it's version 6.0"

I thought we were past this. iPhone 5 makes the most sense to people who know the last iPhone had a 4 in its name. People don't care to actually count.

As worthless of an argument as it is, it will not be called the iPhone 5. They stopped numbering the iPad so it only makes sense that they will do the same with the phone.

+1 It will be The New "iPhone"... meaning it will just be called "iPhone"

Later referred to as "iPhone (September 2012)" like other Apple products. For example "MacBook Pro (Late 2011)"

The reason iPhone 5 bothers me somewhat... is that everyone from random people to the news/media seem to be SOOOO sure it will be the iPhone 5. They were calling it iPhone 5 last year as well.

EDIT: +1 was for Tmelon

Really? You don't remember that the first iPhone, iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS looked the exactly the same and the "5" is rumored to look the same albeit a little bit bigger?

I don't see the point in complaining when Apple threw us the same design three years in a row and now they're doing it again; only thing is, there will be an extra year added in. (the 5S)

Prediction: iPhone 6 (2013/2014) will have a redesign.

I think when we see so many hardware options in Android phones and see change in iPhone hardware only once every 2 years, people get frustrated.

It'll be called the 'new iphone' and everyone on earth that day forward will proceed to call it the iphone 5, just as folks are doing currently with the 'new ipad' oh you mean the ipad 3 ? anyway....

To be honest, it's almost a moot point.

So many people put cases on their iPhones, so all you see is the front (which isn't going to change anyway.

Saying that, I'd happily not put a case on if the metal back is resilient and stylish enough. I actually don't like the extra weight the case adds, even if mine is super cool.

Even with a stylish case, the screen is still too small.

Major car companies like BMW/Porsche and a few others, stick to their product throughout many years

Let's take the 3 series for example. BMW makes minimal changes to their design, tests the crap out of it, and every year it gets better and better.

Apple is the same way with their iPhone. They won't release ****** software or an update just because Android has it, or everyone wants it.

Apple has all eyes on them, because they aren't all about instant gratification. They've made it a point that it's their way, and not the customer's way.

Function/simplicity is the design.

So to put a spin on things, I'm glad they are sticking with a similar design, and not making drastic changes. You can spot an iPhone miles away, and everyone knows what it is.

Classic.

I drive an SUV. It not only looks great, but, with the larger interior, is more useful.

Wasn't there a lot of complaining (here, at least) about the design when the iPhone 4 was left in a bar and was leaked to the world?

When the 1st iPhone was released, the smaller screen was very practical; there wasn't anywhere near the apps (initially only web apps) there are now. Now, there is so much more we use our phones for that a larger screen is more practical.

I ride a motorcycle. It not only looks great, but, with the thrill of riding, is more fun.

I also drive a convertible. It not only looks great, but with more seats, is more practical.

I also drive an SUV. It not only looks great, but with more room, is less fun but more useful.

It's all subjective.

Different form factors have different pros and cons. They all have things that they're better at.

Then there's personal preference. What appeals to me may not appeal to others.

Choice is always a good thing.

Not really. The iPhone 1 just has that ugly black plastic on the bottom.

Time to bring in the images:

Hello, McFly??

That's stretching it. There's only so much they can do with the form factor so just different designs make it look different. The two tone back of the new iPhone will give it a distinguishing characteristic. The 3G/3GS looks quite a bit fatter than the original, just as the new iPhone will look considerably thinner than the iPhone 4/4S.

Umm, I think only one iPhone was released in October.

So your argument claims that the 3GS name "doesn't make sense" cause it was the 4th phone. And the 4S name "doesn't make sense" cause it was the 5th phone.

Can't believe I got sucked into this stupid naming vortex again. Please, for the love of God, stop this stupid argument.

That's what I'm talking about. The first 3 designs were not radically different from one another. I am perfectly fine with the iPhone 4 design, and the iPhone 5 mockups I've seen look really nice.

LMAO...3GS was the 3rd iPhone. He had them all in order for you, all you had to do was count them.

For everyone who argues what they will call it, I would LMMFAO if they called it iPhone7 just to F&%$ with every one of y'all:eek:
