What are the best guesses concerning iPhone 5 release date?

Should I purchase an 4S now or wait for the 5?

I currently have an Android phone.

Thanks

The iPhone 5G came out on October 14, 2011. The iPhone 6G will come out with 15 days before or after October 14, 2012.

The phone that came out on 10/4/2011 was the iPhone 4S, not the 5G. Please use the correct nomenclature. Apple named it the 4S, we should as well. It's far less confusing.

I am using correct nomenclature. It is the 5th generation iPhone. Thus, iPhone 5G is one its correct names.

I'm sorry but what's the iPhone 5G?

The iPhone 5G is the current generation iPhone.

The iPhone 5G is the current generation iPhone.

The "G" in any previous generation iPhone has never stood for "generation". So ur incorrect naming of the current generation iPhone is, well...incorrect.

Since there is no 5G network one should come to self conclusion that 'G' stands for 'generation' that is, well....if you have common sense.

Sorry but calling it the iPhone 5G is incorrect in so many ways. Did we call the iPhone 4 the iPhone 4G? No we didn't.

Some people did and still do. Using common sense to know that the G stands for "Generation" makes the numeral+G an acceptable naming scheme. Would you rather me call the current iPhone model the "iPhone 5th Generation" or the "5th Generation iPhone"? All the numeral+G does is make the "Generation" shorthand.

Lol if you say so. That's like saying that the iPhone 3G should be considered the 3rd generation iPhone because it was called iPhone 3G. You see where your explanation is flawed lol

Yes but why not call it the iPhone 4S to avoid all this bulls**t Internet fight. I can't believe people waste their time fighting over what someone called an iPhone, if you know what their talking about why should it matter what they write.

You have to admit to most people, calling it the 5G is just confusing. That aside, you could be absolutely right, but before the 4S they were on a Summer release schedule, and the 4S was something extra. Might they stick with the June time frame for the real 5? :)

Have we enjoyed our rants !

Rather amused me when the iPod touch was released, and some named it the
touch, when posting which some members got rather annoyed at !

Not to disrupt this thread by getting back on topic, but here goes. I've seen October mentioned mostly in this forum, but I've seen more stuff in print on searches that seems to point to a return to the summer release pattern. I personally, from a non-scientific and know nothing view point, think it's 60/40 summer/fall. If it were me I would hesitate to burn an upgrade on a 4S at this point. I had the itch also and decided to sell my DX and picked up a used iphone 4 on craigslist for $200 to hold me over and saved my upgrade until the 4GS/5/6/6G/NEW/No Name/Whatever... is released, whether that be June or October. So if you simply want to get away from Android like I did, that would be my suggestion on the easiest, most efficient and economical way to do it.

OP, expect the next iPhone to be available in the States in October 2012.

It obviously will be called the New iPhone anyway. Then will come the Newer and then the Newest. After that it will be the Best, Better and Bestest.
