iPhone 5 Reservation at Apple Store

We cancelled our apple.com orders this evening and reserved 2 verizon 32gb iphone 5s in black. Just waiting for the pickup notification emails now. I was originally going to get white (hubby always wanted black), but after seeing a few white ones, I kept reconsidering because I love how the slate looked on the black. After tracking the availability in Chicago over the last few days, we figured it was safe to cancel our online order and play the 10pm lottery. So far, so good!
None available here. I have a feeling I will just have to wait until mine comes in at AT&T.

this is my first time doing this. I know it says between 10-4, but don't they usually release them at 10? Has anyone ever got "not in stock" and then after midnight got "in stock"?

Got an e mail from Apple last night to go and pay for the iphone 5 as sim free.
Seems so much easier here in the Uk to get an iphone on what we call 'pay-as-you-go' {payg} and sim free.

I'm glad I found this thread. I was at work earlier and I tried calling for the order online and pick up the next day at 9 pM(1 hour early) this was one of the best reps I've ever spoken to. He took my information down saying he'd start the process and just save it to the cart so later I can just go on the site and make the process as easy as cake. He did me one better he said he'd just call back at 9:45 and do the order for me. when 9:45 came...nothing, no call. I tried going on the site, apple.com, hitting F5 repeatedly. And them bam! at 9:58 my phone rang and it was him, it was an easy process, he did everything for me. Tomorrow I'll be picking up my brand new, black, 64gb verizon iphone in NYC.
I used a gift card for part payment and a credit card for the rest. I couldn't see how to pre save the info but I was able to input both cards once the store showed in stock and I was still able to reserve my phone. Good luck.
Congrats on getting one, it appears I did as well. Couldn't find a way to save the gift card info but I did the next best thing by typing them into an open text edit window and copying and pasting lol.
just a question. after reserving an iPhone how long does it take to change the order from Processing items to ready for Pickup? And how long apple holds the phone for you? Thanks

yesterday i called apple and cancelled my online order placed which had delivery the week of nov 13th. I had also just returned from Germany. I was exhausted, i fell asleep at 9, even though I tried to stay up until 10 to check local stock.
Our one year old woke up crying at 2am because she has a cold and needed a new diaper. On a whim, i tried, and was lucky enough to get a black 32gb verizon for store pickup at the naperville, iL store. Just waiting for my ready to pickup email now.

It took about 10 hours for me, i ordered it at 10 last night and got the pick up email at 8:12 this morning

I would call the Apple store otherwise you will be charged for an iPhone you don't have. When I bought mine through the reservation system Apple had already placed a pending debit on my card.
