iPhone 5 Reservation at Apple Store

My local CPW have the 16gb black, 32 gb white and both colours in 64gb but all for contracts only. I prefer not to be locked into long contracts and to be honest I'd rather buy direct from apple. If you run into trouble with your handset the network high street shops run for cover citing "we'll have to send it off". At least the Apple store will open a minimum of two units to resolve most issues !

Im baffled by this as well. I also prefer to pay upfront and not be tied to a contract. I think they either have some agreements in place with the networks, or they do get commission.

You where able to reserve but for some reason not now. The website suggests they are very low on stock.
 
I managed to reserve one for a friend a black 16GB last monday at the metro centre and I got it instantly. Shame I cant get it :(

Nope, canceled the same day, will pay an etf and prorated service. Only ding on credit report is a credit check and one more account that opened and closed... So it really only hurts your credit if you are borderline and want to buy a house soon...
 
When should I expect an email to pick up the phone? Still shows that it is processing here.
 
Ordered mine at about 10:10p last night. Wanted a 64GB Black but settled for 32GB. Got pickup notice at about 8am. Going to get it asap.

Got to say this is a LOT better than waiting a month...

Why are the 64GB so hard to get???

I picked up my White 32GB yesterday having never seen one in person. I have to tell you all....

Consider the white. Its looks great and I have to believe will have way less scratching issues.

It only took 2 tries to snag one.

Put the phone you want in the cart and be sure you are logged into Apple.com
Know which store is the highest volume and be ready to focus in one it first
Start refreshing at 9:45 PM.
Keep at it and check out fast.
I would have succeeded on the first night but I was still toying with black vs. white.
Second night...saw it checked out fast and picked up 9AM the next morning.

You do know you can call the credit bureau and dispute the check. They will take it off. JUst pull your report before you call then tell them during your review you saw inquiries you did not request.

They put your name on these and you have 7 days to pick up so its not like they will give it away.

The inventory is refreshed at 10PM and the system reopened pickup at that point. I remained opened for me until noon the following day then closed. Dont know why.

I think its BS that inventories refresh only at 10. I think they can refresh at any point as orders are received in the stores. Apple may shut the system but thats not likely because they are out.
 
When you pick up the phones from the apple store do they activate it for you? If they activate it is any of your content transfered or do you have to connect to iTunes before it will transfer? Finally can you have them not activate it when you pick it up?

I picked up mine yesterday and I mentioned that I'd prefer to setup the phone myself. So he basically put the box in a bag and I left. On the way out of the mall, my signal on the 4S went out so it looks like it did activate the new phone during the transaction.

I took the 5 out of the box and the car and everything worked fine.
 
Wish me luck in South Florida tonight y'all! I have the funds, and I hope they have the phone I want in stock like they did last night! :eek:
 
You can still reserve in the UK just not today as apple stores dont get deliveries tomorrow.

The activation takes place when the Apple store completes the purchase on their hand held device and you sign that you received it.

I did an iCloud backup before I left my house. When I got to the store and got my new iPhone 5 they took it out of the box and let me connect to their in-store WiFi network and I just restored my iCloud backup there. It took about 3 minutes and it was fully transferred.

Yes and just came back from the Boylston Street store in Boston with the phone in hand. It was like the Fall of Saigon in there! Huge line of people with reservations and people without them -- the ones without reservations lined up this morning to get cards for the remaining stock. This store is the largest one in North America so it would appear it got a giant shipment today.

Also I want to reiterate that I think they refresh stock not just at 10 but throughout the night -- otherwise I would never have been able to reserve mine at 11:57 last night.

Maybe the supply bottleneck is opening up a bit?

Today I picked up my VZW iPhone, activated the phone with the VZW SIM, then went straight to the VZW store to cancel the account. No problems at all. It's unlocked (tested with ATT and Rogers SIM), and works great. One thing I noticed, I checked the unlock status on dev.mk before turning it on, and it said "LOCKED". But once I activated with VZW SIM, it changed to UNLOCKED immediately.

Is this the price it came out to for you? and what the 80/30 figure in your calculations? is it $80 plan divided by 30 days?
 
So I have a question, I plan on doing the reserve iPhone utilising an upgrade from my account for my own phone number, is it possible once I go the apple store to get the phone activate it on my own phone number and not the one I used for upgrade?
