last year with the 4S I preordered mine and walked into a corporate ATT store the next day and they had "oodles" of phones. They had just gotten a shipment in. That is the good thing with ATT stores/carrier stores.....they just get them and it is first come first serve.

First come, first serve IF you want to sign/extend a contract.

I find this hard to believe.

I'm not lying. I'm as surprised as you are. They even said I could take a little time to think about it, they had so many 64s in stock. They received a shipment of them yesterday. I wanted a 32, but what the hell...

This is a partial upgrade iPhone 5.

Don't know how true this is, but my buddy that lives in Tennessee just told me that his local BB has i5s in stock and they're holding them to sell till Saturday. I remember BB doing this with a few products in the past, but didn't know they still do this.

This whole reservation thing wasted a week of my time when my iphone could of been preparing for shipment. I just bit the bullet and ordered mine with an ETA of 3-4 weeks delivery. At least I know I'm in the process now instead of sitting, praying, and hoping every night at 10. And it all depends on your apple store, mine don't reserve phones they get for personal pickup, they sell the shipments on a first come first serve. And whatever is LEFT AT THE END OF THE NIGHT is for pickup next day. Which =NO PHONES AT 10. it's a joke process, but hey, I guess this is an opportunity to work on my patience ;)

yeah...when i worked with them we would hold xbox 360s quite often during the launch. i wouldn't put it past BBYM to do the same during the iphone 5 madness.

I would think that if they're doing that it's for Sunday morning sales and not Saturday, correct?

I feel the same way. Have been doing this for a week with no luck. Guess I'm going to order too. Spent at least 30 min a night for the last 6 nights with no luck.

Why would you hold them when you could sell them all immediately?

Employees' relatives & friends first, then customers this weekend? :D Worst Buy, meh! Stay away. Only buy thru them if you can get it on their no interest for a year or so rewards program. ;)

"Apple slipped to second place in the worldwide smartphone market, but nonetheless posted strong year-over-year growth to reach 35.1 million units shipped."

Apple shipped 1/7th of their total 2011-2012 volume in a single weekend. Doing that in a single month would have been remarkable and made them the envy of every other retailer in the world. But to do it in a single launch weekend

I also think part of the fun of all this is the hunt itself. I hunted mine, I got it. There was a sense of anticipation like i used to get on Christmas Eve when i was a kid both nights I got online to hunt my phone. I don't get that feeling anymore on Christmas Eve, it was fun.

At the end of the day, it's a *phone*. IMHO, certainly not worth the stress and demands being made. Yeah, I got mine, but I didn't see a point in pitching a fit while I hunted. Elmer Fudd wouldn't have approved! "Shhhh, qwiet, we're hunting wabbits."

That is year over year growth, but only comparing similar quarters so that's 35 million iPhones in the last quarter. Analysts are predicting that in the quarter that started yesterday and runs through the holiday season that apple will sell 50 million iPhones.

This is an amazing feat, but still 50 million in 13 weeks adds up to 3.84 million a week, so 5 million on launch weekend is not as incredible as it could have been if the worldwide launch took place all at one time, btu then again that's a discussion for another message board.

I believe that Apple could have sold 12 million during launch weekend. The demand for the iphone 5 is off the charts, but I don't know why there are no numbers to support it :D

Hey guys, haven't been following this since I successfully used this program to secure my 5 last week

Now my girlfriend is trying to pick one up. The first night this was active, I (on the east coast) wasn't able to even select pick-up in store at 10 PM EST, we then all assumed it was 10 PM PST (so 1 AM EST). I got mine at 2:30 AM EST.

Is it still 10 PM PST, or can you select pick up in store at 10 PM EST (on the east coast, and then correspondingly at 10 PM in whatever time zone you're in)?

It is now 10pm local time, not PDT. Good luck.

If I do the online order, and wait the 3-4 weeks....

....Would I still be able to do the "Reserve at Apple Store" option in the mean time, and it show that I still have my available upgrade? Or would the upgrade be gone as soon as I place the order, even though the phone is no where near available to ship?

I figure its worth just placing the order, as opposed to wasting time and giving myself a headache....and save the disappointment from my nearest Apple Store not getting a stock of phones Lol :/ But it would be nice to luck up, and get one at 10pm one of these days! In that case. obviously, id cancel the online order.....Doubt we can do this though.

Now it says:

Pick Up: Visit an Apple Retail store

this is where it said inventory is updated at 10pm...

Wonder if they're stopping the reservation system...

Yeah I got that also, I guess we just have to wait and see for disappointment at 10.
