iPhone 5 Reservation at Apple Store

quick survey:

should i order my phone from apple now and get it in November

or

wait till it shows up in my local apple store

After reading many posts from this forum, I was able to try tonight for the first time and was able to secure a white ATT 16gb in Chicago.

Here are some tips:

1) The stock list gets updated 1-3 minutes before 10pm ( at least it did for tonight)
2) Add all the iphone of your choice into your cart ahead of time. I added 3 different sizes/colors on my cart.
3)A few minutes before 10PM (central) I started refreshing my cart, then I noticed my first store of choice had what I wanted.
4) I had my credit card store and sped thru the check out.
5) Victory!!!

in step 3) you can also click on the 'Change Store' link. This will show a pop up with the store listings based on the zip code. You also have a drop down where you can select another one of the phones that you had previously added to the cart.

Tried the above strategy again, yesterday and I was able to get an iphone 16gb for my gf at the skokie, il store. When I was looking for stocks, I saw many 16gb black in Cincinati as well.

I would keep trying to reserve one for pick up...I'm sure you will get before Nov. comes around....I think I saw a couple people a couple nights ago get a couple in TN, so I would just keep checking back every night. Unfortunately it does require patience but I think you will be able to get one before November.
 
South Florida

Has anyone been able to get a phone in South Florida? I only saw a white one yesterday for about 1 minute and it was gone in one store only! checked from 9:45 to 10:45. Also does anyone know if they update throughout the night or just at once.

I'm looking for the 16gb black (i think...still cant decide between white or black)

I'm pretty not going to drive anywhere else cause i've got an 18mth old and taking a several hour trip for a phone is just not gonna happen, 😛

What carrier? I have been looking for a 16gb black on AT&T in the Chicago area for the past couple of nights and haven't found anything.

I've been logging on at 9:45 every night. I agree that the stock gets updated around 9:57 each night. All the other stores in my list get them except my local one. Tonight if one pops up again at the store about an hour away I'll be making the drive after work tomorrow. I usually go to bed around 9 so this hasn't been fun. I need to end it. I should've never believed the reports that said there were going to be an endless supply of iP5's. 😎
 
I tried to pre-oder last night and failed. (I'm switching from AT&T to Verizon). This morning I decided to just do a regular pre-order and wait and got a message that I couldn't. Because Verizon would want a deposit. eh? Why have all those steps for me to sign up and port just to tell me I can't? (I have great credit).
I called apple, and they gave me Verizon's number lol.

Oh well. I'll go to Verizon today.

I saw a couple in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale on Tuesday of last week and then a couple last night as well....

When did you find out about the deposit? During the checkout process?

People in the Cincinnati area need to check the local AT&T's as well. They are getting sporadic shipments since last Friday (according to the Norwood AT&T store).

When I went back and moved it from "saved carts".
I then started over and got to "processing" and it came up again. I had done this 2 or 3 times before and never seen it.

i've had this happen to me before. call verizon customer service and ask them to cancel all orders. if you've tried to pick up online more than a few times, say, for a few days; every time you enter your VZ info, you start another process. they need to clear all of these for you to try again.

Seriously? Just because I "saved carts"? Thanks. I'll try that. Bizarre.
