I tried to pre-oder last night and failed. (I'm switching from AT&T to Verizon). This morning I decided to just do a regular pre-order and wait and got a message that I couldn't. Because Verizon would want a deposit. eh? Why have all those steps for me to sign up and port just to tell me I can't? (I have great credit).
I called apple, and they gave me Verizon's number lol.

Oh well. I'll go to Verizon today.

This happened to me online at Apple as well while I was trying reserve a phone. I was contemplating switching to Verizon from AT&T. At the check out screen, it said there may be a deposit required, but I could continue my purchase/reservation. I decided to cancel and head over to vzw.com. At Verizon's website, there was no deposit required. So, maybe Apple has only basic criteria for qualifying people for new lines of service. Not sure why it was different.
 
i've had this happen to me before. call verizon customer service and ask them to cancel all orders. if you've tried to pick up online more than a few times, say, for a few days; every time you enter your VZ info, you start another process. they need to clear all of these for you to try again.
I just called Verizon, and they transferred me 5 times, and then told me to call apple. I called apple. They said ummm a lot. Spoke to a supervisor, and then told me to try to order at 10pm again, and if I fail, call apple and they will order for me. Which seems dubious at best.

Has anyone been able to get a phone in South Florida? I only saw a white one yesterday for about 1 minute and it was gone in one store only! checked from 9:45 to 10:45. Also does anyone know if they update throughout the night or just at once.

Yesterday at 10PM while checking for ATT Black 16GB, there were some stores that had 32GB White and some stores in Miami that had 64GB in Black and White. I'm going to keep trying tonight for a 16GB ATT Black.
 
Potential Reservation Bug

Hey all -

Weird thing happened to me today, didn't see anyone else describing this behavior. I've been checking each night at 10pm local time and hadn't seen a phone available. I had done this with both the website and the Apple Store app at various times, and in all cases both stopped me from proceeding with in-store pickup when there was no inventory. On a lark when I had a free moment, I tried again this morning shortly before 10am in the Apple Store app, and lo and behold, it allowed me to proceed, processed the credit card transaction, and sent me the 'processing' email. I was surprised but figured that something had just become available in the store.

Here's the rub: When I clicked on the order number in the 'processing' email to confirm its contents, the website indicates a pick-up date of ... Nov 8th.

Has anyone else seen this, and if so, what would you recommend I do? I'm not sure if I should cancel, whether it's a bug in the system, etc.

Any thoughts/wisdom appreciated.
 
ALL my local Sprint stores have iPhones......BUT, only 32 and 64 GB models! I want a 16GB! Ahhhh!

I had a similar experience when I called Verizon after it would no longer let me add to cart on the Apple.com site and select in-store pickup. Got transferred multiple times and in the end VZW rep. said my only option was to order directly from them over the phone which sucks because the soonest they said they'll ship is 10/26. She said my credit application was "stuck" because I had submitted it too many times...I've only been checking the last 4 nights :confused:
Base on your experience quoted above I'm not even going to bother calling Apple

I did not end up making the switch. Decided my unlimited data was too important. If I am happy with AT&T and they aren't forcing me to get rid of it, why go?

Makes sense. I don't have unlimited and call quality here is not great. I put up with it while AT&T was the only game, but Verizon has such good coverage here.

Oh yeah, the verizon guy was definitely willing to do my order. But I thanked him and hung up. I'll try again tonight, then go to Verizon tomorrow and just suck it up and order.

I pre-ordered my iPhone 16GB Black from AT&T on the 14th. I got it on launch day & the next day decided that I wanted AppleCare. I called Apple & was able to buy it over the phone without having to go to the Apple store. That phone will go to my mother when I get the 64GB I reserved last night.

I think I might be having the same problem. I was trying last night, and all of a sudden my cart emptied. It was like 10:15 so I didn't bother entering all my info again. I had left a phone in my cart for about a week, so I thought maybe it timed out or something. I hope it wasn't really checking my credit every time I refreshed my cart for the last week.

Anyway, I am frustrated trying to find a Verizon phone anyway. I want to move our two lines from US Cellular to Verizon, so even if I find one phone for pickup, who knows how long it will take me to find another. Anyway, I think I might give up on the online thing for a while and just try calling around or just order and wait another whole month. Blah.
 
There is a 64gb Iphone at the skokie,il at&t store, right accross from the mall. confirmed as of 5PM CST today. Not sure the color thought
 
When I place my order for pickup do I need to put payment information if I want to pay in store when I pick it up?

I got an email a few days after getting my AT&T phone on launch day that offered me the chance to buy AppleCare + because per the email: "You didn't seem to have a chance to purchase it when you purchased the phone"
The email gave me the option to call in and purchase or drop by an Apple Store. I went to the Apple Store because it's less than a mile from me and they added it on. Never even asked to see my phone!
 
Just logged on into apple store on my phone and was able to choose pick up for the Chandler, AZ store and did the whole process to buy it and it worked somehow. I just got an email with my iPhone 5 order confirmation and they will email me when it is ready. Really weird that it went through. iPhone 5 Black 64gb Verizon

Thanks for the information, I don't understand because when i refreshed from 9:45 until 10:45 I only saw a 32GB White in Miami Beach that was gone within 30 seconds. This is so frustrating.

Yeah if you try to use the app and purchase for in-store pick up at any time that isn't between 10 pm and 4 am you will automatically be placed in the November 8th pick up date. I'm assuming that is the date apple thinks the supply will be big enough for everyone.

Previously with an iPhone in the cart, the "pick up" line had a link allowing the user to change store (see link on the ipad in this pic). Tonight, that link is gone and it just says to visit an Apple store on the iPhone in my cart. Is the reservation option dead now?

WHATTTTT!!!! If you would...a sample of confirmation! That would mean there is stock? OMG!!! Did it show stock in other shows on the app?

That changed yesterday. You will have the option to select your store when it's 10PM EST, but if you are anywhere else besides EST the stores will still show unavailable until 10PM local time.

No it didn't. I've been following the time zones for the last three nights. It's always been the same. The pick up line has always had a change store option just like the ipad in the pic.

Never mind. I emptied my cart and started over. When I did, the option to change store came back
