- 1GHz A5
I really hope not. That would probably knock over 20% off the battery life. Apple can't afford to go backwards on an important spec like battery life. And does the iPhone really need 3x CPU performance and about 11x GPU performance vs the iPhone 4? My opinion is that it doesn't.

Dual core gives you better battery life, not worse.

3 ghz quad core. 4 gb ram, 4.5 inch retina display, 12 megapixel cameras on front and back. 1080p video recording. Dual boots lion so you can hook it up to a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and use the hdmi cable to have a full blown Apple computer.

Oh and a hot pluggable external video card for when you need extra graphics juice.

:p

- Apple A5 (dual) @ 600-800mhz
- faster RAM, 512MB
- 8.0 megapixel camera
- very similar design
- white and black colors
- iOS 5 with proper dual core support
- I'm sure Apple might try to take a stab at making it thinner.
- separate Verizon and AT&T iPhone
- 16GB-$199, 32GB-$299, 64GB-$399

Hate to break it to ya, but 5 will be a minor upgrade. iPad 2 (512mb) = iPhone 4 (still the same). iPhone 6 will be the big upgrade.

Hate to break it to ya, but seems like you have no idea what you're talking about. The iPhone 5 will be a minor update? Since when has Apple ever released a minor update for the iPhone?
Don't say iPhone 3G to iPhone 3GS, because that was a huge jump in internal specs, that's why it's still being able to run iOS 4 fine.
A Dual Core A5 chip for the iPhone 5 itself makes it a massive upgrade, not to mention the other features it's going to get, so Apple will make iPhone 4 owners upgrade.

I find it unfair that people who are stuck in long contracts with their iPhone 4 are trying to undermine the next iPhone so that they feel better about themselves.
Also, i find it odd that people associate a major upgrade to the device, if the externals are the different, don't judge a book by it's cover guys.

In fact, i'd be surprised if Apple didn't change the design of the iPhone. Sorry guys, but the iPhone 4's design is completely plagued with bad press, and more negativity than any iPhone before it. Biggest being the antennagate issue. No surprise that the guy in charge of the antenna design was fired/left Apple soon after the complaints came running in.

just my 2 cents.

I'm with you on this one. I think the only 'minor' upgrade is when they introduced the 16GB iPhone and discontinued the 4GB one.

I could get an iPhone 5 if I really wanted to. I just love the iPhone 4 so much and it's fast and I'm not giving it up. Plus it has some sentimental value since I got it before launch day. I feel fine that I will have the same phone until the next one comes out, and if it's better so what. The one I get after that will be even better. I just don't see the need to upgrade until LTE rolls out everywhere.

It all depends on clock speed. Apple already said that the A5 at 1GHz draws the same power as the A4 at 1GHz so it's pretty reasonable to assume that an A5 at 800MHz will draw the same as an A4 did at 800MHz. The A4 in the iPhone 4 is rumoured to be clocked at 800MHz so a like-for-like replacement as far as power drain is concerned would be an A5 clocked at 800MHz but the OP was wanting a 1GHz A5, hence my comment that this would kill battery life (power draw is not linear with clock speed) and in my view would also be massive overkill in terms of a performance jump from the iPhone 4.
