I have owned a PSP for six years, so I am used to putting a brick in my pocket and having a 4.3 inch screen. I am not at that height, but I can see Samsung Galaxy Note appealing to people who are that tall or have big hands. I can imagine Michael Jordan and Shaquille O'Neal feeling comfortable using one.

It is cool to see Samsung catering that demographic similar to those BIG & TALL clothing shops. Proves not everybody is the same size and they want to cater to those people. What is cool with the Note is it is bringing back the stylus even with a capacitive touchscreen. It gives me a flashback to a decade ago when Palm Pilots was still cool for business professionals. Then it moved onto Windows Mobile phones and DSes.

It's all about the screen baby. I am on the fence with the iPhone 5 screen size too. I see all these droid phones with these bigger screens, and I dream of an iPhone with at least a 4 inch screen.

At this point, if the iPhone 5 falls below 4 inches, Hello Droid.

(hard for me to say, I've been an Apple and Mac owner for my entire life.)

Same here. I've only had Apple products all the time, and currently got a iPhone 3gs and waiting for the iPhone 5. If it doesnt got a 4" screen at least, think i may be going the Galaxy Note instead. 3,7" or 3,8" aint big enough either, has to be a 4" screen. Gotta say, I've never had android phone, so am a bit excited about what apple is going to announce. Could be good bye iPhone...:(

I'm debating whether to leave iOS too.

I recently purchased a Galaxy S2. And honestly, I will not look back anymore until iOS get a major revision.
Seriously, Android is VERY good and I am quite happy with it. I still have a iPhone4 but didn't used it ever since.
The 4.1" inch screen is amazing to work with and the highly customizable OS is just plain fantastic. In fact, the latter convinced me to use Android instead of iOS.

And as a very Apple diehard it was a though decision to switch. Trust me.

A 3.8" iPhone screen will almost as large as the Atrix' 4" screen, assuming my grade school math is correct. Correct me if I'm wrong

At 4" the Atrix' display is:
Width: 1.96"
Height: 3.49"
Area: 6.84^2"

At 3.8", an iPhone screen will be
Width: 2.11"
Height: 3.16"
Area: 6.66^2" (EVIL!)

At 3.85", an iPhone screen will be
Width: 2.14"
Height: 3.20"
Area: 6.84^2"

So in conclusion, 3.85" is the perfect size you're looking for. On the downside, the pixel density at 3.85" diagonal will be 299.68!!! falling just under the magical 300DPI. Will Apple break their own standard by going below Retina ever so slightly? ;)

I have the first Galaxy S, but as a former Symbian and Windows Mobile user, I'm not really all that crazy about the customization of an Android phone. In fact I hate the fact that every ROM I try on my phone has some sort of little niggles that I have to sort through and no matter which ROM I pick, there's just something I want to spend time changing. In any case, jailbreak does all the customization I want for my iPad.

Don't you mean 4.3"? Yeah I know, Android has some pretty great stuff. I've owned many Android phones and iOS devices. It's still a tough choice though, because of the iCloud. It would help me out a lot with what I do

I hate decisions!

My biggest concern is the iCloud also. I got so many Apple products that i got connected to each other that it would be bad to get the SG Note. Very hard to decide. Just hope Apple can persuade me with iPhone 5. :p

Its 4.3" mate, the rest 100% agreed.

Really love my Galaxy S2 and Android, cant imagine going back to IOS.

Hoping the Galaxy S3 having a 4.5 - 4.7" screen, love em big:D!

Yes, its a 4.3". My bad.

About iCloud:
I am not totally convinced this will be a huge selling feature. Well, not for me it is.

IMO 5.3 is way to big - i have an iPad for that

I agree. I like to put my smartphone in my trousers. A 5.3" wouldn't allow that. :)

I now have a Galaxy S2 with 4.3" which is the max for me.
My wife has a Galaxy S-plus with a 4" screen which is imo the best format.

My guess is iPhone5 will have a 4" too.

This just goes to show u the hold Apple has on most of us. Its not because we are stupid and hypnotised like all the anti Apple people would have u to believe, but its because they actually have above average everything that leads to more than solid and gorgeous devices. They have us us beating ourselves up over whether or not we will move on if they dont give us a 4" inch screen. If the shoe were on the other foot and we all were Android fanboys and it was Apple and not android with the 4" screens, we wouldnt have to question the move. We would just do it. But because we are all afraid of leaving the strongest, most supported, best looking, technology company in the world, we put orselves through hell just to make a decision that will niether kill us or help us live.

I will wait:

1. To see how iphone 5 (or 4s) is
2. To see how Samsung Galaxy note is

Big screen is the advantage of note but, I love my iphone & the apps and I am not sure if I will like Android.

I fixed that for you.

You must have thought my post was a WIKI, for you to edit.

Ha...ha...ha...

Nice Try, but as an Apple Historian, Avid Enthusiast, Long Time Customer and Shareholder, I'm far too familiar with how Apple operates to be mistaken when it comes to most all aspects of the company. For well over two decades, I've observed the various players, personalities, and especially the man who in my opinion is the most brilliant salesman in the world ... Steve Jobs.

Here's a guy who can sell anything, hype it to the heavens and set unbelievable customer expectations. In addition, he has established a massive, rock solid, cult like following. Quite the accomplishment.

At the end of the day I will continue to purchase, enjoy and use Apple computers for the work I do. That is unless there comes a point where they are reduced to mere appliances, as the hybrid iOS is baked into the computers to make them easy peasey for novices. Thereby neutering their ability to do what I need them to do in my engineering and design work.

Only time will tell :)

300PPI is not the measurement for what a 'retina display'. Jobs talked about a "magic number" around 300PPI, but as far as I can tell there's no real requirements for a retina display other than whether or not Apple decides to call it that.

Did either of you guys use MobileMe for email etc?

If you did, how did you switch?

HTC Titan for me with a 4.7" Screen. I prefer WP7 over Android :)

But yeah the Note looks very impressive if you can pocket it. How powerful is the battery with it? That would be my only concern (other than the fact it may be too large) :p

I think the Note is a very nice-looking, appealing phone. But its just too big for the majority of people, in my opinion, and therefore can't really be compared to the iPhone 5 which I doubt will have a similar-sized screen.

ah, but it can be compared to the iPhone 5: as in 'here's the largest and the smallest high-end smartphones on the market'...

I got the 4 because of what it is! And this involves the screen size. It is the smartphone i like to use every day. Improvements on the OS are welcome but on the hardware side I never felt disappointed or let down.

Maybe it is because I am not a gamer or use it for surfing in my spare time...But on the other hand I enjoy to read PDF Papers on it or emails... I do some simple Pages stuff on it too and have no reason to complain about the screens size.

You want a way bigger screen - Vote me down again if you like to but face it - bigger screen - maybe - but only within the current devices dimensions.

And size matters when you want to be able to put it into your (jeans) pockets. A phone in a messenger back or backpack is worthless. At least for me ;)

I want the Note, but I have this feeling that we won't get it here in the US. I really hope the iPhone 5 has at least a 4 inch screen. I would be satisfied with that:)

The reality is, until Apple tells their followers a larger screen is what they want, nothing will change. Apple does what they want, when they want to do it and their worshippers follow. It's just a proven fact.

Apple's unique power over the masses is what's made them the company they are today. Like it or not, it's how it is. Apple gets away with things no other company could.

before the iPhone come out no one was interested in big phones and everything was getting small and slim.

If Apple feels its right to keep the screen the same size or enlarge it slightly then so be it. I know they won't compromise on anything just to follow the competitors.

Well, you hit the nail. Though I am very very happy with my new Galaxy S2, the battery it drains is mind blowing. When using it like it should (mailing, surfing, phone, ..) it holds barely 1 day maybe 1.1/2 days.
My iPhone4 gets easily 3-4 days.

Anyway, I did the switch to Android now and still very happy doing so.

Your iPhone lasts you 3-4 days? What do you do, stare at it?
