I would like the iPhone 5 to stick with the glass. I just think it makes the iPhone feel premium IMO.

Plastic, preferably of the soft-touch variety.

Hate the 4 form factor, and glass would mean sticking with it, i.e flat back, harsh edges. Aluminum? Seems likely to dent easily and probably a bit more slippery.

Mild steel (less brittle than carbon steel) with a scratch-resistant ceramic gunkote (eliminates the need for stainless steel, partially offsetting extra finishing cost), choice of flavors (can be virtually any color, and patterns, e.g. digital camo for military issue iM5).

Plastic feels cheap for a premium device like the iphone. I prefer metal but if they could come up with a stronger glass, that'd be fine too.

I'm not a big fan of metal so either some good quality plastic or stronger glass as someone suggested. Actually I'd prefer stronger glass

i dropped my 1st gen and it didn't dent much. it mainly left marks but at least the entire back didn't shatter or have cracks

Cute  face. IMO, not denting is worse..that means all the energy from the hit is being transferred to the internals. And not sure why you mention the back shattering, I don't have a 4 and want nothing to do with a glass back

Skin... generated from human cells preferably... in several layers, of course.

I liked the iPad 2 back, iPhone original and glass. I like all four.
