Only use while sitting and only with 2 hands?!?!?! Where's the rofl emoticon when you need it. I hope you aren't serious

It may require changing but you can't deny the safety of using it only while siting and always have two hands on the phone. :)

A smilecon as your phone would almost never drop if adhering to the safety procedures.

Wow talk about not being able to come to grips with reality. Stop justifying your choice. Admit glass is a bad idea for a smartphone. Trust me, theres no winning this arguement.

orly?

20 million people have a glass iphone 4, how does millions of people have a phone when it is a "bad" idea?

You tell me and be assured, you have no chance to defend yourself here.

Accidents happen. Id rather my device be as resistant to damage as possible.

And for your reply to the other poster; Over 46 million people, in the US alone, smoke cigarettes. Does that mean smoking is not a bad idea since so many people partake?

Every phone has pros and cons. Just because a person owns an iPhone 4, doesn't mean they like that it's made of glass. It just means the pros of the device outweighed the building materials used (for those that dislike it being glass). Not saying EVERY person doesn't like it being glass, that's obviously not the case.

I read (I don't remember where, I can't seem to find it) that the iPhone 4 had a breakage rate 80% higher than any of the other 3. That in itself is strong indicator that it's a bad idea to use glass.

If I find the link I'll post it.

lol it only sold 20 million, because its an iPhone. If Nokia, RIM, or HTC had made the same device, it would've been a failed product due to the negativity.

taco shell. the all new eatphone!!
seriosly- shatterproof glass or glass with thin plastic layer on top so it wont break.

Smoking is an addiction so the 46 million people have to smoke it.

There is no "phone addiction".

46 million people smoking and 20+ million have Apple iPhone4 have no correlation.

How safe has my phones been the last 4 years?

One has been dropped one time, no damage whatsoever, the other phone has never been dropped. Defending not following even the basic rules for phones like not having a case is like driving without a seatbelt, texting while driving, sure you may think you are a pro handling the phone with 2 fingers but it will bound to come back and bite.

Carbon fiber would look so sick

Nope.

How inconvenient has it been to use though? You'll probably say not at all, but most people would find having to sit down and use two hands to text to be very inconvenient. Also, since when is having a case a rule of owning a phone. I've never had a case or screen protector for any phone I've owned. A few drops here and there, never had a phone break from dropping. I use one hand and type with my thumb, and I feel that is a perfectly normal way to hold and use a phone, nothing 'pro' about it.

I seriously can't see how you think glass is a smart thing to make phones out of.

Im not kidding..I had a dream last night that I dropped my phone and it cracked..... I love the all glass look but it is something that has to be addressed

I'm on the fence about what material I'd like to see for the body of the next iPhone. My first was a 3GS and I remember not feeling so cautious with it because of the plastic. I've got a 4S now and I'm wary because of all the other horror stories about other people shattering the glass.

I guess an aluminum shell would be nice, but all of the phones would look the same! No white or black backs, just silver...

I haven't held one yet, but the polycarbonate construction of the Nokia N9 and Lumia 800/900 looks gorgeous. Reviewers have praised the choice of material - maybe Apple could start manufacturing something like that?

If we're talking about stuff that's logically possible for the next iPhone, then I want an aluminium back with a design similar to the iPad 2. If we can pick anything (real or not), then I want adamantium on the back of my iPhone.

While I truly appreciate the 4/4S design, I think one using the same curves/shape/material and principals of the current MacBook Pro would look really cool!

ALUMINIUM SCREEN :D

Seriously, I'd stick to aluminium and glass, its industrial, and unlike any other phone (unless i'm very much mistaken)

Aluminium and glass please.

In fact, keep it pretty much as it is already. My iPhone 4 and 4S have been far more durable than my 3G ever was. Nice, solid, robust - so long as i dont drop it! :D

If it aint broke...

Glass and stainless steel please. It simply gives the iphone more premium feel.

I also find the argumentation "glass breaks" weak. Iphones are not designed to be droped.
