I'd like to see an iPhone 5 design closer to the curvy 3GS/iPad design rather than the sharp edges of the 4/4S. But thinner, of course, and with a larger display.

The N9's hardware design is really nice - but I'm sure Apple can do even better.
 
Aluminum Back

Not to be stupid, if all the 'aluminum cases' caused signal problems, how can Apple use an aluminum back on iPhone 5? I tried several cases on my iPhone 4, even coating the inside with rubber. All caused a problem and had to go with Atomic's Hybrid. I heard the 4S antennas were not moved to solve this. I will bet they will stay with the 'gorilla glass' for that reason.
