iPhone 5 working fine on BMW

2011 328i with Nav and iPod?

so.. does anyone have a 2011 328i with nav. and usb for ipod... and plugged in the iPhone 5 lighting-to-USB that came with your phone to the USB in the BMW and it worked?

I won't be home from school for another week to try it out.. but is the only other option just bluetooth? I want to be able to pick the songs and playlists from my screen so is this still possible to charge the phone and sync with USB?
