Anyone get their Lightening to 30 pin adaptor yet? Is it working with iDrive?

The iPhone 5 seems to function better than my 4s in several areas.
Obviously the docking tray no longer works, but the new Lightning to USB cables functions perfectly. Pandora, Music all work as before.

Bluetooth seems to function better, specifically the Office functions finally are working, both text and email. They are both still contained in the Text section, but they now load instantly which they never did on the 4s (w/ iOS 6).

It will only display the first few lines while driving, but the voice will read the entire email or text. The main improvement is speed, they load as soon as they appear on the iPhone.

Siri also works via bluetooth audio.

Overall the transition to the Lightning cable hasnt seem to have affected newer vehicles, at least the BMW models with latest Combox.

Ok, now that you've "impressed" everyone by talking about your BMW, can we move on to important stuff for the 99.99999999999999999999999% who aren't spoiled rotten.

Why did you even bother to read the thread?
I dont need to impress anyone. I provided feedback on my experience for those who care....and there are more than .000000000000001.

This thread feels like a 1%ers convention.

Just curious, what do some of you do to be able to afford such nice rides? I sometimes wonder how the economy is really doing when I see so much wealth flying around.

I'm doing okay, but not at the level to afford an M5!

I think some of it is a few of us are more... ah... senior... and have had more years to save up for a nicer car. :)

It does seem to provoke some interesting reactions.

Thanks for the good feedback regarding your experience.

Don't sweat all the others. It sounds like there are quite a few people here who should worry more about themselves and less about how someone else can afford a nice car.

It's a pretty sad commentary actually. Instead of trying to find out how they can earn similar things and make their own goals, they refer to others who have accomplished something as "spoiled" and "1%". Very very sad.

Did you notice the thread title? "iPhone 5 working fine on a BMW" ... did you expect to read anything else other than how it works on, um, a BMW??

BTW, when you earn your $$$ it's not being "spoiled". It's called enjoying the fruits of your labor. Sadly, you are so clearly one of those who would rather enjoy the fruits of others' labor.

All this on a forum dominated by people who are talking on a ~$600-$800 PHONE!!!!!

So, I'm finding that I frequently can't get any audio using the USB to lightning cable in my BMW. It worked fine for a week or so and still works on occasion, but about half the time the audio comes out of the phone speaker and not the car speakers (even though I can still see the cover art and song information and I can still control output with the iDrive controls). Anyone else having this problem?

I had pair my iPhone5 since day one (9/21) and had no call problem, however, when I pair the phone thru BMW Apps and listen to web radio (audio) thru bluetooth and getting phone call when it connected, it will give me BOTH the voice call and music in the car at the SAME time. I experience the same for my iPhone4 thru BMW apps as well.

I have a 2011 F10 535i with Navigation and BMW apps.

Anyone experience the same?

I use bluetooth, and it works great. The only issue I have, and I had with my 4s too, is sometimes I start the car and it links bluetooth, but no audio plays. I have to turn off BT on the car then turn it on again and let it pair, then it works again...its really annoying.

Audio is working fine on my 2011 335is but charging no longer works with the y cable and the 30 pin to lightning cable. I get an error that it does not support charging.

I wish iOS would be better integrated my Alfa Romeo Giulietta's Blue & Me multimedia system, but I think that Microsoft doesn't like the idea. Things like being able to use Siri (although it isn't available in my native language) or reading messages and emails would be excellent.

BMW seems to have a very good integration with iOS.

I hope this isn't sacrilegious to the BMW owners on this thread but I didn't want to start an entire new thread just for Mercedes iPhone 5 users.
I was not happy reading that the Apple Lightning to 30 pin adapter would not be supporting iPod control in my 2008 Mercedes (the car came with the standard Bluetooth for phone but not A2DP for stereo music). I have the OEM iPod/iPhone kit and always enjoyed using the steering wheel controls and seeing the music info in the dash display and I was already contemplating purchasing an iPod Classic just to play my music. Much to my surprise, the controls DO in fact work with the Lightning adaptor just as they did with the standard 30 pin AND the dash display works exactly the same as well!
I couldn't be happier that my iPhone 5 works just as well as my 4S did with my iPhone kit.
:)

Just got & tried my Lightning to 30 pin adapter cable yesterday in my 2009 BMW with I-Drive. Everything works perfect. :D

One thing I did notice is that a message pops up on the iPhone screen that says the accessory does not support charging, but it *does* in fact charge. :D

Texts work great as well. I am now receiving texts straight through my idrive system with message tone through the speakers and a little envelope displayed on the screen when a text arrives. As well as displaying the message, I can even get it to read the message out to me :)
There is still a bug with email that requires an iOS6 fix before i can receive email in the same way.
