I had this problem on my phone (Verizon iPhone 5 in SC) once before when I was coming out of an area with poor coverage. My dad (also Verizon iPhone 5 in SC) has had this problem occur almost every day lately. It will set to a random time and rolled back to August. It looks like restores from backups, setups as a new phone, and even replacement phones/new sim cards won't fix this issue. Is it definitely a known issue with Verizon that will be fixed?

I just had this problem this afternoon. MY tweetbot app had a weird message and told me to login again. I did so and was able to get back into it. I looked up and my clock was set back about 20 minutes. I turned the phone off and when it connected to the tower, it updated to the right time. I also have Verizon in IL.

Okay guys and gals, I called Verizon and they are aware of the problem but are still looking for more details. I suggest anyone having this issue to call Verizon and let them know.

Also, I've noticed that the day is alaways almost 30 days off. I am going to more closly monitor it now. When this happens, lets try to log it on here exactly how off your date and time are.

Thanks!

I am on Verizon. I was in a town with sketchy LTE... In and out of LTE/3G all day. I looked at my phone and it was about an hour behind all my friends. I called Verizon and all he told me to do is turn off the auto set time. Doesn't seem right to me!?

Help in SC

I am on Verizon in upstate SC. I've been with Verizon for many years however this is my first iPhone. Saturday morning it rolled the time back about 45 minutes. Saturday night, it rolled the time back a month and about 12.5 hours. This is very frustrating. Should I go to Verizon or the Apple store? I bought the phone through Verizon. Thanks in advance...

Wrong time on iPhone 5

Having the same problem as everyone else and already getting a replacement from Apple I noticed that it would happen when I used and data related app or internet. I wend into my settings and turned off LTE. Have not had the problem in over 1 day. I know that this does not sound like the best option and I do hope that Apple and Verizon get this fixed but when you use your phone as your alarm clock it is kinda my only choice.

As someone who has worked in technical support for years, I would suggest isolating possible varaibles and testing them one-by-one. So for example, one day, turn off military time for the whole day and see if it happens again. The next test, turn on or off (the opposite of how you have it now) "automatically detect time zone". Next, toggle off LTE for a day... etc.

This should help narrow down what the possible causes may be.

FWIW, I'm on Verizon and have yet to see this happen.

My phone started doing the same thing yesterday. My wife's started last week. Both iPhone 5's. both in Verizon.

I had the wrong time happen several times. On the same day Verizon did the 13.1 network update, I also did a restore from scratch on the iPhone. Since then I have not had the wrong time happen again. I don't know if it's fixed, but it's been almost a week now without it happening.

Went into settings, general, usage. My standby time that is listed is over 4 billion days??? My details are:

Verizon
Using LTE but had switched over to 3G when I noticed the issue
In oak ridge, tn
Current real time: 121pm
Phone time: 1257am

First time that I've noticed this issue.

Go into General->About. What version of the Carrier does it show? The latest is Verizon 13.1.

carrier is 13.1

My phone had 13.1 installed by default. My time corrected itself just before 2pm.

I am on Verizon in Hawaii. Have been having the same issues for about the last week and a half. Phone jumps ahead 3.5 hours at random intervals. Guess I'll just wait for an update to fix it since this seems to be a software issue with verizon.

New Verizon iphone 5 customer here. I have this issue at least twice a day with the clock being off anywhere from an hour to 7 hours. I'm in central Illinois on LTE.

The clock seems to reset itself back to normal after a few seconds when I toggle off and on the "Set Automatically" option. Verizon really needs to get this fixed ASAP!

I have Verizon 13.1. It happened to me but I noticed that changing the automatic time to a specific time zone fixed the issue. I also noticed that it happened in weak LTE spots.

I have VZ iPhone 5, have not had the issue. (Keeps finger crossed)

But on a off chance, anyone want to try this?

Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > turn off Setting Time Zone.

And

Settings > General > Date & Time > Turn off Set Automatically

Wonder if somehow it's getting changed for those having wrong time issues, just a theory at least. Mine is on however have not had this issue. But I do notice the time zone is getting checked every once in a while.

Just had my time fall back by 30 minutes, twice today. First time I've noticed this happen since getting the phone on release date.
I'm with AT&T in St. Louis MO area.

hi guys,

have just got an iphone 5 and have just googled for this problem as my iphone is about 8hrs fast and nothing i do changes the problem and i'm on vodafone in the uk. so must be a world wide problem..

Same problem here, also Verizon. But I also had the problem with time "Set Automatically" turned OFF. Very weird.

Same issue here... talked to Verizon and Apple

In NC with Verizon. Same issue started with me today.

Time switched to some funky time, and the date was set back to August 27th. I believe there is some issue when switching between Wifi, 3G and LTE networks. I also live in one of those areas where I am frequently going from 3G to LTE with Verizon.

I called Verizon, they asked me to do a hard reset, then transferred me to level 2 Verizon support which then transferred me to Apple Support. Both Verizon and level 1 person at Apple, basically said "I've never heard of this before, but it seems to be fixed now". Finally, I told the Apple support that I wanted to talk to someone who might actually want to find/fix the problem without apologizing for it. They sent me to a level 2 guy who gave me a case number, his email, phone number and asked me to log and track the issue and report back. It may not do any good, but I feel important when I have a "case number"... especially with Apple

I have the same issue where my phone seems to fall about 30 minutes behind. I just got off the phone with Verizon and they acknowledge that the problems exists. They said that it seems to be a software issue and they are working on a fix with Apple. In the meantime, they said that a short term fix may work is to go to Setting-->General-->Date & Time and turn off Set Automatically. Then go into Set Date & Time and then put it ahead 1 year (e.g. Oct 1, 2013) and then tap on General-->Setting and the home button to get all the way back to the home screen. They asked me to confirm that the date was in the future and once I did they told me to go back and set it back to the current Date & Time. I then asked if I should leave it on the manually set Date & Time there or put it back on Set Automatically and they told me it's ok to put it back to Set Automatically.

I just finished their directions a few minutes ago so I'll monitor for the next few days to see if it really is a temporary fix. This problem is so annoying because my phone is the primary device I use to tell time and I don't trust it. I might have to start wearing a watch again. Hope they identify root cause and permanently fix soon.

So after trying the fix above I did get the time falling back again. I tried doing everything above again with the exception of the last step of putting it back to Set Automatically and I have gone 1.5 days without any issues. I will continue to monitor to see if this short term fix works.

So after I moved the time forward a year and then put back to current time and left Set Automatically off, I have gone 10 days with no incidents. It's still not the perfect solution but I can now rely on it as an alarm in the morning until Verizon/Apple figures out a fix. Anyone else getting similar results?

I did not do that but I did upgrade to the Verizon 13.1 network update then restored the iPhone 5 from iTunes and my backup. Since then I have not seen the problem reoccur either.

I've had my iPhone 5 since the release and today is the first time this happened to me. I'm on Verizon, IN, and I have carrier update 13.1 so that didn't solve the problem.

This is a Verizon issue. My iPhone 5 does the same thing multiple times a day and so does my wife’s Galaxy S 3. I’m thinking it’s an LTE issue.

iPhone 5 wrong time

I am also on Verizon in AL. I have had my iphone 5 wiped and replaced and it stilll showing the wrong time. My ipad does not do this and neither does my wifes iphone 4. My settings are on auto and not on military time. 2 hours and 15 minutes ahead.

AAAAHHHHHHHHHHH
