Apparently they do if they're knocking $200 off for me in October. That's an early upgrade - 11 months early.

Sorry but I agree about the partial upgrade but they are no longer doing "early" full upgrades as they did a year or two before.

Early upgrades were what, every 18-20 months? That never applied to me anyways, buying a new iPhone every 12 months.

Not that it matters, I'm just going to wait and get a much cheaper iPhone 6.

How do some of you manage to waive the upgrade fee? Tell us your secrets.

I talked to 2 AT&T reps and told them about the conflicting dates. Both checked their systems and reported to me that the September 15th, 2013 date was correct for an early upgrade. And as of a few minutes ago, both the Apple store app and Apple.com are showing the September 15th date as opposed to the Apple website showing October 15th.

Also, I was told that my account wouldn't reflect the September 15th early upgrade eligibility until the 15th.

I'm hoping they're correct!

I had the same info from my AT&T rep. September 15.

I can not blame you for waiting for the 6 but it will not be cheaper.;)

FYI - I called AT&T back after they told me they could "override" it and let me upgrade on 6/22 because I forgot to ask if this meant I needed to go to an AT&T store or if I could go to an apple store.

The agent I spoke with said there were no notes on my account about an early upgrade and they could not override it for me. I had to wait till 2014.

Very frustrated! Thank god I called and did not drive to an AT&T store or the Apple store next week.

Not sure what to do next...

Mine actually said that I am eligible thru the Next program & when I called to confirm, the clueless AT&T rep said the same. So after some digging, I found out that the Next program start for those whose contracts expire from March 2014 onward. My 18-24 month upgrade started in Aug. 2013. So I'll have my mitts on a new 5s next week. :Dhttp://blogs.att.net/consumerblog/story/a7790084

Are your guys' modified upgrades full upgrades, or early upgrades? Thanks!

Mine is an "early upgrade" so it's the 449, 549, 649 price point. I just got off the phone with ATT 611 number to see if they would do a fully subsidized early upgrade and they didn't budge. Maybe I'll try next week but I doubt it will work.

This is what I got:

"You are eligible for an AT&T NEXT installment plan upgrade. Or, get a standard upgrade today with a 2-year service agreement and a $36 upgrade fee."

I used another lines upgrade last year so that's probably why I'm eligible for a regular upgrade.

THIS. Hopefully the iPhone 6 comes out in October 2014 but AT&T will probably let me upgrade at 22 months. I do a 'cross upgrade' every other year so i can upgrade yearly since they discontinued yearly upgrades and that seems to work ok.

Checked my upgrade on the 3rd and got this

Just checked a minute ago and got this
"Congratulations! You are upgrade eligible. Check out AT&T Next which lets you upgrade to a new device every year with no upgrade fees."

Guess AT&T is changing the wording on upgrades now. I was eligible in May but always like to check just in case. I also hate how they are trying to push NEXT down our throats. I already upgrade yearly and keep my phone, which I sell for a nice profit. IMO NEXT is a rip off.

There was an earlier thread on the forum that said he got a different eligibility date from the Apple Store app than ATT's site ... I got the same thing ... The App store says my date is 9/22 ... ATT says its 10/22 for the early upgrade pricing ... anyone else see that?

I upgraded mine last year on 9/15. ATT is saying I am eligible for the early upgrade price of 449.

To the OP and anyone else who asked. If your eligibility date has changed at all it may be due to a change you made in your account. I had that problem a few years ago. I removed the roadside assistance and they added 3 months to my upgrade date. I then asked for a rate discount because of my job and they added another 6 months.

Wow... that is indeed very disappointing. I did this through an online chat, so maybe my representative was more competent- either way, I'll be travelling to an at&t store this week to see if they see the note (and if not, see if they'll add it by asking nicely). I'm sincerely hoping I do not run into the same trouble as you.

If I were you, I'd try the online chat system- see if they see any notes- if not, ask nicely and see if there's anyway you can get a confirmation (I felt like I should've asked for a confirmation).

----------

This is still up to the individual store. I would call the Manager of the store to confirm and put a note on your account.

They "should" do the $449 upgrade but if it isn't showing online then it is still up to the Manager. ATT can call and ask nicely.. but it isn't 100%.

You would hate to wait in line to only be told... no... maybe next week when we slow down.

This is at the corporate store also.

Interesting. I had already planned on visiting the at&t store... and after your advice, I definitely will early this week. I'll see if it's already there- if not, I'll kindly ask for it to be put on there. I'll also see if there's any way they can allow me to go to the Apple store instead, but I highly doubt that.

I would certainly hate to camp only to be told I can't get that pricing...
