What in the world are you using your phone for? I'm not saying you're a liar or anything but I've honestly never had any problems with any of my 4 iterations and they've all been heavily used. I've also not heard of this problem from any of the dozens of iphone users I know.

Well the first five 3gs's I had all had to be replaced (thanks Apple) due to faulty buttons. I've replaced buttons on two 4's.

Guess they don't like me and It's a chore, but I just use them normally.

Uh....The iPhone 5 was FAR more powerful than the 4s, had an upgaded front facing camera, 3 mics, a bigger screen and some decent improvements to the rear camera as well. It was not a cosmetic redesign. Neither was the 4.

Agreed. There will be nothing new with the iPhone 5s other than faster internals, a slightly bigger battery that will give us 30 minutes more life if we turn everything off and dim the screen to 10%, and the exact same "everything-else-that's-in-the-previous-model" that we always get with the "S" models.

If you're looking for something new, wait for the 6.

I absolutely LOVE two years of same body.. made it dirt cheap for 4/4s accessories, as the companies are guaranteed they have YEARS to sell them. We're spoiled for options! Case/accessory manufacturers simply cannot get behind any one Android phone in the same way. It's shrewd of Apple.. feeding the cottage industry they created & giving the consumers a HUGE benefit as well! There are only so many sizes/shapes you can make a phone, lol. I'm totally cool with iPhone having the same shell two years at a time & appreciate updated internals, sensors, cameras, etc...

Hope they do something about the scuffgate problem :)

Agreed. I hate this insistence (thanks Android Brigade!) that a phone needs to change cosmetically every 6 months to remain marketable. Nonsense.

The 4/4S was a much better-looking (and feeling) design than the 5. Wish they had stuck with it - maybe just replaced the back with a more durable glass-like material. I have a 5 and love the speed, but I miss the design of my 4. I think it's the most beautiful mobile device ever designed. So much that it still sits, unused, on my desk - I feel unwilling to give it up. :(

Stainless steel band > aluminum.

Yep...that iPhone 4 was just a redesign. I mean adding a front facing camera, an HD Rear Camera, Retina Display, and FaceTime is not doing anything to the internals.

How have you ever owned an iPhone?

I really hope apple bring in the iphone 5s with current size but also make the larger phone as well. It's in all apple history to have two size choices for everything! I mean it's logical from an apple design philosophy that says it's a product class with two size choices and two speed. The mini ipad, normal ipad, mac air 11 and 13, mac book 13 and 15, mac book retina 13 and 15 and imac 21 and 27. Im sure they even have two sizes of cinema display.

It's so so logical, i hope we see it.

I'm fine with a smaller screen but I know apple could do better battery life, a thinner phone etc etc. You only have to look at how thin samsung can go when the screen real-estate allows it. Flatter bigger batteries with minimal battery drain from screen is just a win.

Also ios7 looks more scalable that ever with no textures or minimal graphic elements!

I think it's coming just not sure if it'll come with the new 5s launch date.

well, hopefully the battery life will be increased since iOS 7 is a HUGE battery drainer.

I wasn't aware that the finished public release version of iOS 7 was available yet? I thought it was still in the first developer beta with a lot of work to do before it is ready for release.

Each one had power increased and the iPhone 4 got the retina display which was a big deal.

ok. again no fingerprint sensor on this years iPhone, and with this no NFC and no mobile payments solution from apple :(

Maybe I missed something, but where did you read that there will be no fingerprint sensor? I'm not saying you're wrong, but I didn't read this.

"4 - cosmetic redesign only" - was this a joke? Probably the 4 was the most revolutionary device - resolution bumped to 4x (Retina), front camera, 720p recording, flash, gyroscope etc. A LOT more brand new stuff than in any other new release.

Surely he hasn't.

YOU have never had. I, along with tons of other Apple users, have.

----------

My iPhone 4 on iOS 7 gets 13 hours per charge....odd hows yours doesn't

He should have run a complete wipe / restore, without restoring the previous backup. No 6.x backup restore = no battery drain.

If they ever devote some serious time and energy into Passbook, that could be a mobile payment solution. If Square, Starbucks, and others can create ways for you to pay directly from your iPhone, there's no reason Apple can't work with other companies to integrate payments into Passbook.

I had this problem on my 4. My issue was I use the phone as a GPS and MP3 player while I run. On the armband, I would sweat bad enough that the moisture wrecked the button, twice. I've switched to a running belt with my 5 and haven't had the same problem.

was really hoping for a bigger screenn....

There SURELY will be - sometime in the future. Otherwise, there wouldn't be a new gesture for returning to the previous page on the navigation controller - one of the biggest reasons Apple hasn't given us a larger screen up to now. (It would have been impossible for many to reach the "Back" button in the upper left corner with his/her thumb in one-handed use.)

It will only be a year and so far it is mostly set that they are not going to redesign their phone each year. Not sure what they could really do in just a year to impress people, I know if they released two sizes with a new design next year that would make some people happy.
