Agreed. I hate this insistence (thanks Android Brigade!) that a phone needs to change cosmetically every 6 months to remain marketable. Nonsense.

The 4/4S was a much better-looking (and feeling) design than the 5. Wish they had stuck with it - maybe just replaced the back with a more durable glass-like material. I have a 5 and love the speed, but I miss the design of my 4. I think it's the most beautiful mobile device ever designed. So much that it still sits, unused, on my desk - I feel unwilling to give it up. :(

Stainless steel band > aluminum.

I agree it was stunning when it was released. In saying that I have 3 iPhone 4's sitting at home and was getting them set up for the parents last night. It is very heavy having glass in the front and back. I do like the stainless steel though. Steve said the 4 looked like a Leica camera, and owning two Leica bodies I can agree, solid, heavy, well built and timeless design.

When you look at the placement of the connectors on the display "cable", I don't see how it could possibly line up with ANY of the supposed connector locations on this "new" logic board. What am I missing?

3GS - improved internals, faster, better cameras and extra features to take advantage of better innards. Easily supports all latest iOS features.

4 - cosmetic redesign only

4S - improved internals, faster, better cameras and extra features to take advantage of better innards. Easily supports all latest iOS features.

5 - cosmetic redesign only

5S - ?

Are you kidding? The 4 and the 5 had way more than that, i actually think the 4 was the largest upgrade of all the phones.

That list of yours is very inaccurate.

wouldn't it make sense to have the fingerprint sensor part of the home button?

If its internal only I'll probably pass till 6. Let my contract expire and renew then. Fingerprint sensor and NFC would be nice. Otherwise from a hardware perspective, only an updated camera is needed.

I skipped the 3GS and waited for the 4. I skipped the 4S and waited for the 5.

I'll probably skip the 5S and wait for the 6. As with the previous S models, there will probably be a feature or two that makes me envious of those people that have it, but I'm on a two-year upgrade schedule, and I'll survive.

The iPhone 6 is going to ROCK!

pffffffft

.
Seriously?

Honest question, does anyone really care (here or in the general public) about these 'S' release iPhones? It's the same phone, a little faster, 1-2 more megapixels. We are highly unlikely to see fingerprint readers or NFC.

I can see the Samsung commercials now... ohhh is that the "new" iPhone.

well this is even more depressing news than the leaked iphone 5. I don't even want a huge phone, just one with a screen i can actually read. Whhhyyy is that so hard? Everyone else is making them and billions of dollars. I've never heard a single person say that they wished the iphone screen was smaller. Plenty of people say they like the size of their iphone screen, but it's only because they like they're iphone, everyone does.

What exactly are you doing to your phone? I've never had this happen with my iPhone 4 or 5.

Its rather common. I had to replace the button on my iphone4, and one of my kids ipod touch is gone, but I am not replacing it (the top button is also dead - so upgrade is better). My friend at work has a couple of dead ipod touch buttons, and the phone guys at work routinely replace iphone buttons for the corporate iphones. Sensor buttons do die.

And yet again, today we hear how Samsung are further upgrading the pretty awesome S4 with a twice the speed 4G chip ... whilst the best we can get from Apple are leaked pictures of a PCB for a competing phone that won't even hit till what, September at best?

Laughable Apple, laughable (and also quite embarrassing ... although that'll fit quite nicely with iOS7 ... which looks like all the best elements of Android and windows have been taken, placed in a kindergarten and voila ... A mess of a result). Sighs ... Bring back Steve Jobs!

The demise of the iPhone started with antennagate; when they took the gorgeous iPhone 3 and turned it into the dull slab of a design mess that was the 4 ... and all it's inherent issues! Then along came the 5 and yet another backwards design step. God knows how they're gonna fook up the 6 ... That is when it arrives in 10 years time at this rate!!!!

I'm 99.9% sure I will be getting a new iPhone in September or whenever the new model is released. I can live with 4" but I really hope Apple surprises us with a all new iPhone with maybe a 4.5" screen.

Glad your so confident ... The way things have been going at Apple recently, I think a more apt word would be 'bomb'!

What? More changed on the 5 than any phone before.

Agreed. There will be nothing new with the iPhone 5s other than faster internals, a slightly bigger battery that will give us 30 minutes more life if we turn everything off and dim the screen to 10%, and the exact same "everything-else-that's-in-the-previous-model" that we always get with the "S" models.

If you're looking for something new, wait for the 6.

.... Or buy a Galaxy S4 now!!!!

I wasn't aware that the finished public release version of iOS 7 was available yet? I thought it was still in the first developer beta with a lot of work to do before it is ready for release.

Fair enough, but by default, i'm pretty sure iOS 7 will drain the battery faster than iOS 6. It's just a matter of how much it will. Especially since we will have dynamic icons and such.

Apple you certainly have lost the plot if you bring out an a 5s with the same old screen size! your so far up your own backside you don't know whats good for you or you don't give a toss, the same old screen, bit thinner and a bit faster oh whoo pee...I predict the lowest iPhone sales ever...!! and an increasing Android takeover!

Just bring out 6 with a large screen and stop trying to flog us yesterdays hardware..

The 3 was nice, but the 4 was a awesome design. As we see all the time, design is subjective and you may no like it but there is no doubt it outsold the 3 many times over. Oh and before you say they fook it up every single time, they make what they feel looks great and customers reflect it with their wallets. I think they gave up trying to please everyone years ago because we still have people complaining the iPhone looks the same, yet you're here complaining they changed it.

As for antenna gate, I have had 4 iPhone 4's pass through the family and countless ones that friends owned and none of them have had any issues with the reception. I admit the first thing I did when I received my first iPhone 4 was do the awkward grip in every way possible and unable to replicate the issue. I certainly dont have any issues with the 4S or 5.

Oh but hey if you still miss the plastic in the 3, you can get a plastic galaxy =)
