Sand in your VJ? Out of bed the wrong way?

Or are you another person who finds it oh so tiresome to put in a 4 digit code and you simply MUST have a useless fingerprint scanner?

I guess I will wait for the 6 then. I really want that goldilocks screen. One that is big enough to do some light reading while on the move, but small enough for my pocket.

I think that what you want is a 3.5 inch screen. It is the perfect size.

I usually jump on the new phones, but this time I think I'll hold onto my 5 and see my contract out for a change. Get the next major release phone, and save some money that I would waste getting out of a contract to start over.
Still look forward to seeing the new phone (5S or whatever they call it) to see what changes are actually made.

Well the first five 3gs's I had all had to be replaced (thanks Apple) due to faulty buttons. I've replaced buttons on two 4's.

Guess they don't like me and It's a chore, but I just use them normally.

I HAD A 3gs. The home button quit after a couple of weeks. Apple wouldn't do anything except to sell me a refurb for $200, because one of the moisture sensors was slightly pink.

----------

The 4/4S was a much better-looking (and feeling) design than the 5.

Only if you like squared-off, bricklike designs with tiny screens.

What exactly are you doing to your phone? I've never had this happen with my iPhone 4 or 5.

Every time I read one of these complaints I wonder the same thing. I've had every iPHone except the 3GS and iPads 1,2, & 3. Every one of these devices has been used by others when I've upgraded. Neither I, nor any of the other people have ever had trouble with the home button. Nor has any one of the other iOS device user's I know.

Are you kidding? The 4 and the 5 had way more than that, i actually think the 4 was the largest upgrade of all the phones.

Theres no way the 4 is a big upgrade. The 4 and 3G are the least upgraded iPhones from the previous gen.

The poster is wrong about the 5, that was a major change. But he's right about the 4. There was little to no raw processing gain or capabilities added on the 4. The internal chip is the same as the 3GS.

THe key is to look for architechtural changes in the processor.

iPhone/iPhone3G: Same chip

iPhone 3GS/4: Same Chip

iPhone 4S: New chip

iPhone 5: New chip.

A smart person would buy the original iPhone, the 3GS, the 4S, and then the 5.

If the 5S is a new architecture, it'll also be a good upgrade. If not, it isnt.

Simple.

For the first time, I think I am skipping this years iPhone. 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S, 5 - I feel sad. Apple, you need a BIGGER SCREEN already. Stop dicking around already. I am not waiting another year and a half for you to do something that should have been done 2 years ago.

Sad to say it but it looks like I will be switching to an Android phone.

3GS - improved internals, faster, better cameras and extra features to take advantage of better innards. Easily supports all latest iOS features.

4 - cosmetic redesign only

4S - improved internals, faster, better cameras and extra features to take advantage of better innards. Easily supports all latest iOS features.

5 - cosmetic redesign only

5S - ?

5 is NOT cosmetic redesign only. It uses a new CPU architecture (Apple A6 Swift) and doubled the RAM to 1GB, also added support for LTE etc.

Simple.

First, processor speed is just one of several possible feature improvements that a phone can have over a previous generation and was admittedly the least important of the differences between the 3gs and 4. Second the chip in The 4 ran 33% faster than the 3gs and had twice the RAM, both representing significant increases.

Are you forgetting about the retina display introduced with the iPhone 4? This was a BIG change at the time.

Why wait? Quit bitching and switch now. Get Jay-Z's new album yo!

Agreed. There will be nothing new with the iPhone 5s other than faster internals, a slightly bigger battery that will give us 30 minutes more life if we turn everything off and dim the screen to 10%, and the exact same "everything-else-that's-in-the-previous-model" that we always get with the "S" models.

If you're looking for something new, wait for the 6.

Camera is guaranteed to be better. Moreover, it is guaranteed to be much faster.

.
Seriously?

Honest question, does anyone really care (here or in the general public) about these 'S' release iPhones? It's the same phone, a little faster, 1-2 more megapixels. We are highly unlikely to see fingerprint readers or NFC.

I can see the Samsung commercials now... ohhh is that the "new" iPhone.

It does when a "S" phone is your first phone or the two-year replacement for your last "S" phone.

My first iPhone was a 4S.

When I become eligible again in August, I will likely get the 5S.

New radio chip and antennae design as well. Anybody who uses the iPhone 5 compared to any other iPhone knows.

I am happy I have the iPhone 5 as the 5s looks to be just a spec bump release so the next truly "new" phone will be June/September 2014. A long time to wait though:(

From what Tim Cook has said in interviews, early 2014 might be the release of the iWatch and (maybe) iTV perhaps. So if they let something new out of the bag, it will be much easier to wait for the iPhone 6 and redesign that will come with it. If all we see are spec bumps in the iPhone/iPad for the next year, it's going to be a looooong wait.

The 3 was nice, but the 4 was a awesome design. As we see all the time, design is subjective and you may no like it but there is no doubt it outsold the 3 many times over. Oh and before you say they fook it up every single time, they make what they feel looks great and customers reflect it with their wallets. I think they gave up trying to please everyone years ago because we still have people complaining the iPhone looks the same, yet you're here complaining they changed it.

As for antenna gate, I have had 4 iPhone 4's pass through the family and countless ones that friends owned and none of them have had any issues with the reception. I admit the first thing I did when I received my first iPhone 4 was do the awkward grip in every way possible and unable to replicate the issue. I certainly dont have any issues with the 4S or 5.

Oh but hey if you still miss the plastic in the 3, you can get a plastic galaxy =)

It is subjective; I hated the 'design' of the 4 compared to the 'style' of the 3 ... The phone that wiped the floor with all competitors! I upgraded to the 4 because Apple gave people little choice as far as ongoing support ; the same with apps. Hated it though; felt uncomfortable next to the 3 and although the materials were 'more solid', they didn't look and feel as nice IMO. My 3 back cover lasted 3 years whilst the 4 just 2 months, so I laugh when people call plastic like its some cheap nasty material when in fact it is proven to be better than all cases after it! As for the 5 ... Hated it ... Too bland, too boring, not enough difference between the 4 ... and another issue with the scratching and maps! Of course the 4 sold more than the 3 ... The reasons why are pretty clear; but they're nothing to do with its refreshed design.

I have since moved to the S4 - it's a FAR better phone in my opinion; a GLORIOUS screen, fast, great features (love wireless charging and SD expansion) and it feels great in the hand. Yes, it is made of plastic on the back; but I have no issue with this as I had no issue with the iPhone 3. In fact, I refer the pastic back of the S4 to the easily to ruin iPhone 5.

As for all the iPhone users that bitch about the S4 Having a pastic back, that's just desperation in calling the competition; as is calling the display too big or non true to life colours. Even you quote the galaxy as being plastic; highlighting your ignorance and jealousy as far as I'm concerned; and having owned an iPhone 5 previously, all I'll say in reply is you enjoy your metal scratch and dint prone case, your small screen, lack of expansion, wireless charging and outdated OS (which laughably, for ios7, Apple seem to be copying from android and windows. Shameful!!!)

Awaiting silly responses from isheep!

I think it just matters when you got your phone, I have not had a "S" version yet as I have been on the 3, 4 and 5 release cycle. Breaking your contract a year early is not much fun:(

What's the consensus on this board, do you think the iPhone 6 will get a major facelift or will it be more of the same from Ive and company? I am ready for a change just to mix it up a bit, but guessing it will only stray from the iPhone 5 a little bit...
