From the 9to5Mac article:

"According to Apple sources privy to customer usage data, a very small percentage of iPhone owners use a passcode."

Really? Most people can't even be bothered to use a 4-digit code? I guess I had been assuming that a basic passcode was pretty much the norm for a great majority of iPhone users.

the only people i've seen use a passcode are teenage girls, and users with a corporate email policy that require it.

I didn't think they'd change the shape of the home button; the best part about the current design is that it usually prevents the device from unlocking when it's in your pocket.

You would think. Guess most people don't think about how vulnerable all of their personal data is if someone gets their hands on the phone. I had a friend leave his phone in a restaurant restroom a couple of weeks ago, and he had no passcode. He was freaked out because he didn't know what to do, and he couldn't get ahold of me (his normal tech support crutch).

He finally rushed to the Apple Store and they helped him lock it using Find my iPhone. But who knows what the person who picked it up had access to for the hour+ before he locked it?

He's got a passcode on his replacement...

Haven't apps on the iPhone, and the iOS logos as well, always been square with rounded corners?

i believe he's referring to the radius of the corners.
on iOS 7, they have a larger radius, making the icons appear much rounder than usual.

Sure hope the fingerprint detection works perfect. They must have an alternate way to unlock the phone if that fails?

Actually, I'd be more worried about being able to get past the fingerprint sensor. This is a device you hold in your hand for multiple minutes/hours a day. You're fingerprints are all over this thing. I would think if a thief steals your phone, and has even a modicum of smarts about how to get a fingerprint off your phone using a basic fingerprint kit which can be purchased at any spy shop type place, they could use that to bypass the sensor and unlock the phone.

Maybe I'm wrong, and it's not that easy, but I hope they've thought this through.

unless you can only unlock it when it recognizes a finger?

Just noticed that iOS 7 support audio only facetime. I'm surprised this hasn't been publicized more. This will kill VoIP providers - you'll be able to call anyone for the cost of your network connection.

Isn't audio only facetime - just a phone call on speaker?

I've got no issue with using a passcode, other than having to switch it on & off, that is, turn passcode on put in pocket, headphones on, ask Siri something & you get you have to unlock your phone first, if only you could lock the phone & it senses headphones when locked & then allows you to use Siri thereafter freely, then I guess more folk would lock their iPhone!

nope, I don't bother with one.

I don't know what I need to know about the rumored September 10th event but I do know that all I know is that I don't know enough about knowing.

I wish I was more in the know.
