change shipping speed

Can you change your shipping speed after the fact? I'd love to change to expedited shipping (since I'm going to be out of town on Oct 10/11, and I'm in the shipping in 7-10 days crowd). I'll wait 45 min on customer service if I know I can change it!

I don't know man.. The fact I placed an order for a gold & white iPhone in the first hour of availability and get told it's not shipping until "sometime in October" is a distinct bummer..

Somebody seriously dropped the ball.

It's a brand new color. Gauging demand was going to be tough. We also don't know how difficult it is to produce. Remember how long it took Apple to release the white phone the first time?

Ordered from Best Buy at 6AM ET this morning (32 Space Grey), just received ready to pick up notice.

Ordered my 5s last night at 2am with no issues at all. Probably the easiest purchase of an iphone so far.

Anywho, a retailer near me has a bunch in stock. I could go in today and get one instead of waiting. However, my card has been charged from Apple already. I thought they only do that once shipped?

Seems like a silly reason to change carriers. Especially since it isn't within their control.

No, you don't promise 7 days, then change it to a month.
What kind of customer service is that?
It is in their control if they know their inventory at the time of order.

Where are you guys located? East Coast?

Yeah, South Carolina. It seemed like everyone posted about receiving theirs at the same time, around 9:10-9:15 AM.

One thing I noticed, I've never done an in-store pick-up on a phone before, but I'm supposed to pick it up in the mobile department and not customer service, does anyone have experience with this and whether they've had any issues?

I originally ordered without expedited shipping on my 32GB gold 5S, but called Apple to see about upgrading and to my surprise they waved the $10 fee. Very happy at the moment. :)

You're lucky, and hopefully it doesnt screw up your order. I just called and was advised, he would be happy to add it, but would require modifying the order which would put me in the back of line. So no fast shipping for me...

I have done it before. It was a smooth process.

6 years and they still can't build enough to cope with launch day demand. I thought Tim Cook was a logistics expert. I can't take time off work to stand in a line at 8am today. Went in at lunchtime and they had already sold out all of their iPhone 5s. Come back sometime in October was the best they could say. WTF Apple.

You mean get here from China in three days? Not impossible, but that's a full week+ from the earliest ship estimates. That's seems exceedingly optimistic.

Not that I'd mind it of course. :)

Well, there's optimistic and there's FACT! When I ordered my 2010 MacBook Pro, I placed the order on the first day of availability, it shipped the next day, and it ARRIVED the day after that! It shipped from CHINA!

There have been MANY other Apple customers of various Apple devices that have received the items DIRECTLY from China and received them 2-3 days after placing the order.

Maybe Apple won't be that fast with the iPhone 5S, but it HAS happened with previous devices!

Got my 5s only 15 minutes in the store. Already miss the iCloud Keychain in the betas. Had to sign in here again.

I picked up a 64GB Space Gray at Verizon, i was in line at 7:20am
Wood bridge, NJ 19th person in line.
There was no Gold models in the store.
Order a 32GB iPhone 5s Verizon online now due ship 10/4

Anyone had luck in getting Gold in hand?

What I clicked on said unlocked. The "processing" email I received said unlocked. But when I log into the store to check on my order, it doesn't say unlocked. Color me concerned.

I think ATT has a lot of fingers down apple's pants... unfortunately. And I think there is something where they can't offer an "unlocked" iPhone within the first 30 days or something.... so they likely had to change the wording, but the description makes quite clear it's unlocked, it just happens to come with a TMO sim loaded
