iPhone 5s Orders Begin in the United States and Canada

*Unlocked* iPhone 5s
In US Apple on-line store, the 5s is NOT listed as "unlocked" (see image attached). Additionally, Apple's genius outside the Charlotte South Park store, at front of the line *before store opening* this morning, stated:
"This store has NOT received any unlocked 5s phones".
In contrast, Apple rep on chat this morning stated:
"The T-Mobile phone is unlocked and contract free. It comes with a T-Mobile sim card, however it is compatible with any GSM sim card with an iPhone compatible carrier....Once the T-Mobile iPhone 5s is added to your cart, it will refer to your iPhone as being unlocked, although it is not on the main page".
I verified the rep was at least partially correct (about "unlocked listed in cart", see image attached). So I went ahead and ordered it. If, before 30 days after arrival, I detect any shenanigans (e.g., not listed as unlocked at iphoneox.com), I will just return it.
Apple should add "Unlocked" word to 5s page (as done in iPhone 4s page).
Failure to do so, unnecessarily, confuses and wastes everyone's time
(many potential costumers wasted a trip to the store, did not think about asking the genius at the door, had to contact Apple reps, search in forums, etc).
That makes for poor buying experience.

That second quote is why I'll never buy anything like this from Best Buy. It's been my experience that Best Buy sales reps are mostly operating with a dull haze around their heads, and there's NO BLOODY WAY I want any of them messing with my cel phone contract and terms. Pass. I'd rather wait than go there and get it right out of the gate.
Mine is still at "processing" about 7.5hrs after it was originally ordered (at 00:04 Pacific Time)

Ditto. Given I was expecting the site to bog down at any second (when I was in there in first 5 minutes), I was just trying to get through it as fast as I could and not explore "options".
I just called them and they expedited me free of charge; the rep even told me that it will arrive Sept. 27th - Oct. 1st (as opposed to Oct. 2nd). I'm sure you could ask them to verify any delays first before they actually pull the trigger, but I didn't even need to do that.
You're lucky, and hopefully it doesnt screw up your order. I just called and was advised, he would be happy to add it, but would require modifying the order which would put me in the back of line.

Glad I ordered when I did - I also went by the Apple Store near me and the line was crazy. I probably would've gotten a phone, but it would have been a long wait (4+ hrs I guess).

I talked with a guy here in Raleigh that got in line a little after 6:30 at the mall (Apple Store). Took him about 4 hours to get his.
I just called and can confirm Apple bumped me to expedited for free under a one-time exception. At most, she said this would gain a day. But she warned a co-worker ordered at 12:01 and his was already bumped twice and now says "October." I'm guessing he got the gold.
She also warned that Sept 28-Oct 2 is a Chinese national holiday and their factory will be closed so no shipments during then.
And I'm still showing 1-3 business days for shipping.

I also called a few hours ago trying to upgrade to expedited, offered to pay but the phone rep was great and did it for free.
Order update email changed my expected delivery to sept 25-27, still saying ships 1-3 business days. I ordered through the phone app as it opened last night and was fairly fast, but the rep said I must have been one of the very first, mine was the lowest order number he had seen all morning.

Although I had one on "hold" at Target I didn't have a lot of faith in getting one today from them since I didn't get the email for them stating it was in. I was going to the mall anyway and at the AT&T store they only had 64gb models. But at the best buy mobile store they has a white & silver 32gb. I really wanted a gray model but took the white. No wait time. However beware! Although I still had my grandfathered AT&T unlimited data plan, they took off my visual voicemail. I had to call AT&T to get it put back on. Note that this is Menlo Park Mall in Edison NJ. they had more 5S's in the back that they hadn't received yet but they are 16gbs.
They didn't take it off. This happens a lot when upgrading. Call 611, voicemail help, and reset your password. It doesn't matter to what. Then it'll show back up.

Sweet! I was thinking about this earlier today. Chat rep couldn't do it, but phone rep was super nice and took care of it for me. Now there is a small chance I'll get the phone on Friday the 27th. Fingers crossed!

Mine somehow said October from the very beginning (Maybe because I applied for Financing and the Card still is NOT Activated yet).
I originally ordered without expedited shipping on my 32GB gold 5S, but called Apple to see about upgrading and to my surprise they waved the $10 fee. Very happy at the moment.
Same thing happened to me! Very pleasant experience. And not just for that reason alone--the CSR was really nice and chatted a bit--she was also getting a 5S and seemed just as excited as I was. Definitely an all around exceptionally good customer service call experience. And, no waiting to get the rep, once I went through a few automated Q & A's. (This was at 5PM this afternoon). I didn't dare mess with the order last night, but felt like taking a chance once I got up (working graveyard shifts, so was asleep during the day).
Super excited for my 5S!
I'm afraid to mess with my "1-3 Day" order too! But pretty much every order I've placed with Apple got to me sooner than predicted, so I'm hoping I'll get it sometime this coming week. Somebody also mentioned that Apple just made all orders placed the first day "expedited" so it's looking good. 64GB Gold Goodness!

Not me - My order status is still "processing," with 1-3 days for shipping, 23 hours after placing my order. I imagine it'll go to "preparing for shipment" Mon or Tues.
For those that ordered through Verizon's site, have you gotten any shipment notification emails? I checked the pre-order conf they sent yesterday, and still said they were processing. Ordered a 32GB Space Gray 5s and a 16GB Gold 5s shortly after site went live. Not sure if their site has more catch up to play with emails than AT&T's, Apple's?
