Can i just say, "look world, at our ridiculous aussie pricing!"

Pretty much Australians are used as a money printing press.

:(

My issue with this years phones.....

Ok, so here are my thoughts, forgetting the very high AU$ cost:

I own a 5. I like the new OS, so if i wanted to go ahead and change the phone I like the idea of not having a case, so a 5c would be nice. But then im paying to pretty much paying to have a colour phone, as its all the same as the 5 (perhaps slightly better battery?). So then you look at the 5s. Well, its got better internals, but you still need a case. So then you not getting a phone that looks any different (and lets face it, we like new things to look a bit different than the last model). I tried my 5 without a case last week, and its bl00dy scary! I know some people do it, but it felt slippery and fragile, and if your spending $1000 on a phone, i don't want it damage and then unsellable next year.

1st world problems!

I'm in the same boat. I guess I'll be setting the alarm for 2:55am LOL

Make that three. I'm not looking forward to this, but if I don't get one online, I may get up and give the local AT&T store a try. If that fails, then eff it! lol

SJ is undoubtedly clawing the satin off the top of his box!

15 months to launch a new iPhone and they can't build sufficient inventories to even remotely satisfy demand?? This from the CEO that's an "operations" guy? Are you kidding me???

What a cluster f*&k of a launch!

LOL It seems so. Definitely one of the strangest product releases I can recall in a while.

What a strange launch strategy....seems they're trying to push the 5C on people even though demand is low (higher profit margins maybe?) and create a frenzy for the 5S by drip feeding it into the market.

We all know that when something is difficult to get hold of, you automatically want it more......

Nice link and article there. I think Apple is really over controlling this release. Personally i think it is them trying to manufacture high sales numbers of the 5c so they can then say "look all you doubters, look how well received the plastic phone has been"

I'm getting texts and emails from my mobile operator telling me the iPhone 5S and 5C are available now and to order if I want one and looking at the availability online for Hong Kong and China, it doesn't look like demand for this launch is anything like the previous launches.

People who wait in line for a 5s are the type that want the latest and greatest. The 5c will sway very few of those people

I disagree. Hard to do that wait, tell everyone you are waiting, then come away empty handed. And the 5c will look so shiny and new. And the folks in front of you will have gotten shiny new Apple goodness.

Do you think Apple employees are going to come out and tell how many 5s they have? At that point will the whole line just evaporate? Or will people continue to wait in hope of another shipment showing up?

Your carrier is lying to you. Go to the AT&T Wireless website in the US, this is a huge selling opportunity. They probably have the 5c available. But there is no reason for that phone to ever be out of stock. It is easier than the 5 to make and cheaper. And 5 sales have presumably dropped off a cliff in the last month and certainly in the last week. So there was plenty of manufacturing capacity to divert and focus on the 5c.

Well. I was planning a trip to a T-Mobile store at 8 this morning and buy a space gray since that's all they have.

When I woke up I saw I had an email from T-Mobile saying the 5S was available for ordering online - even the gold.

I ordered a silver but got a message saying I needed to contact T-Mobile to complete the order. When I did, I was pleasantly surprised that the silver (no gold) was also available for delivery on Monday - paying expedited shipping of course.

Anyway, it is set to arrive on Monday and I will avoid a trip to the store.

I walked into a Softbank store in Japan and got a space grey 32gig phone without a problem. That was the only model they actually had so I was lucky that's what I wanted. Seems everybody here wants the champagne (from what the worker said).

Didn't meet anyone who wanted the 5c last night / this morning. Mostly the more techy apple fans who couldn't wait for the new guts of the 5S. But, perhaps there were some 5C customers farther back in line :)
