The only reason for that was that the 5 was out of circulation, and the 5S was out of stock. The 5C wont do so good for long.

This is not true! I can walk into any Walmart in my city and get an iphone 5 right now for $29 on contract. The truth is simple... Apple over estimated 5c demand and under estimated 5s demand. It in no way means the 5c isn't selling. It makes up 33 % of all new iphone activations... That's far from a failure. It's sold millions... Not a failure... You wanna see failure to look at sales numbers for Samsung's Galaxy Gear... That's failure.

What people never realized is that the 5s is not the technology of today. It comes with a few features that will not be put to good use.

This is why I could not buy an iPhone 5s.

and now iPhone 6 is ready to be revealed.

Not yet, but sometime in January we will hear a rumor about a bigger screen iPhone and then everyone will be like 'oh no, why change the perfect size... which is now more perfect than the original perfect size' :D

Then in April we see the new screen and people will be like 'very fake, very fake'

June we see the whole thing assembled, and still people will be like 'looks like a chinese knockoff'

then it's revealed August and everyone acts surprised! :D

A friend just yesterday received his 64 gb gold 5s. It was a good thing he wasn't in a hurry. He had pre-ordered it from AT&T the day it was available. The rep told him he'd have it within a week.

The smartphone market is changing and Apple appears content to stay in the "form over function" space. I have a 4s and my two-year device upgrade will be in January. This weekend while at Best Buy I checked out the Android phones like the Moto X, GS4, HTC one, etc.. I was amazed at the difference in usability a larger screen provides. (Also the swype keyboard is fantastic and widgets seem very useful)

I suddenly find myself considering a switch to Android next year. Never thought I'd say that.

I don't get what's the deal with that in the US. In Spain for sure and all Europe I think you can get the unlocked version since day 1. And hey, Apple Stores full up with lines of tourists who want the new iPhone and buy a pair of 64GB models (would probably buy more if they were allowed to).

Just imagine if New York stores did that. The sales would be 5x what they are without the unlocked version.

The factory unlocked version has been available in the US since day 1 as well. Some people just lack proper reading skills when on the Apple website it has said UNLOCKED with a Tmo SIM card since day 1.

Are you talking about the "4 core", "8 core", "1.8GHz", "2GHz", "1GB RAM", "2GB RAM", etc. numbers? Do you ever ask yourself why you care about these numbers? Is it just for the numbers themselves so that you can keep showing off to your friends, or actually for the performance of the device itself so that you can enjoy it yourself? In another words, are you spending the money mainly for your friends or for yourself?

 Seriously? Pay full price is the unlocked version! Why wait when it is there in front of your eye balls! SMH sometimes to people.

There is no unlocked version. Paying full price gets you out of a contract - these are totally different.

Just buy an AT&T version as a device only from an Apple Store or the Verizon version full price as well.

Both come unlocked.

No, they do not.

The T-Mobile version is unlocked.

See above. Contract free is completely different to unlocked.

are u serious? Buy the tmobile version is unlocked. I do not get people like you that always argue about the unlocked iphone yet it has been proved so many times already. I buy my iphones full price every year and they started to be unlocked from day 1 since the ip4.

Contract free and unlocked are different? LMFAO

Incorrect info.
The at&t version is still locked to at&t even after you paid full price until you go to their website to unlock it.
I went through that hassle already...

I did. Guess what? Read reply above...

The T-Mobile version is unlocked.

The T-mobile version is LOCKED to T-mobile according to the apple store employee, the chat session, and the t-mobile employee...

You and me both. I am amazed at why USA is still stuck with these outdated models of business and people are putting up with it...

They are different...
Almost all phones sold in the US are locked to the carrier even after you paid full retail. They unlock it at their discretion or you have to call them up to get it unlocked...

Assuming you have t-mobile phones with you? Try to swap in the at&t SIM card and see what happens. Please do let me know if it works. I would be glad to prove the t-mobile employees, the apple store "geniuses" and the chat session guys on apple are complete clueless creatures.

I just ordered an iPhone 5s about 6 hours ago when it said 1-2 weeks. I wonder if this change will reflect my order. Currently it still says 1-2 weeks.

I ordered a T-Mobile gold iphone 5s 16gb late Sunday 11-17-13, expedited shipping from apple.com. At the time, it said expect delivery Dec 2-9. It changed today to Nov 27 - Dec 2 :)

Apple should have done mass production BEFORE making the release date announcement. I say it's bad management.

This always happens.

Apple starts "Shioping times" start from a few weeks after it's announced, but then as everything eases down, switches to 3-5 business days.

Where s the bottke-neck? The supplies or Apple?

Get more put, maybe they'll be no long delay at all

Woun't it be good to have a new product ship 3-5 business days iniidatly after the event?

And if devivery the problem, well that can be fixed too.

No, you are providing false information. It is a matter of several confirmed (including myself) reports of people that have gone to the Apple Store and bought the AT&T version full price and it does come unlocked if paid in full as a device-only or No Commitment pricing.

Now that you couldn't manage to do it right is your own fault. But everyone who has bought unlocked iPhones knows this or went thru this same thing. I did so myself at the Victoria Gardens Apple Store in Rancho Cucamonga.

AT&T Space Gray 64GB unlocked. Oh and in case you think I'm lying, I can provide full screen cap on the phone info with a none AT&T SIM in it working. Checkmate.

I checked my status today and it changed to 3-5 business days with the same delivery date it actually said preparing for shipment which wasn't expected. I also got free expedited shipping from . All i did was call to ask about the shipping estimate and she offered it for free so that was cool.

Who gave you the free estimate? Also, Apple just sent out a "shipped" email. "Delivers Nov 26, 2013 by 2-3 Business Days". The actual tracking number says by the end of Friday November 22, 2013 :) yayay, I will get my first iphone in less than a week after I ordered it late Sunday :p Former LG Optimus L9 owner here. Still prefer Android OS, but Apple's nice small phones and better app selection, and features like AirPlay, AirDrop... <3

Yea same here mine should arrive Friday the 22nd. To answer your question the customer service rep at apple offered me expedited shipping for free. I called to inquire about the shipping times and she just offered it so i think that was cool of them. Enjoy your new iPhone i think you will like it better.

First of all, I need to apologize for sounding like accusing you of something.

Here is the situation we have on hand. It is like a he said she said.
You see, I have done the exact same thing by paying for the full purchase price but my phone was still locked until I went to deal with at&t for a lengthy process including going to their website (which did not unlock it there) and then on the phone with them for over an hour...
I am the victim of the situation, it was either the incompetence of the store employees or they were just air heads.
You can provide your screen cap, but that does not prove that my phone should be unlocked. We are back to square 1 of he said she said...
I am glad it worked for you, but it did not work for me.

Did you buy it from the Apple retail store or from AT&T or other reseller. They're unlocked when bought at the Apple store device only full price.

if you buy full price from AT&T, BestBuy, WalMart, Target, ect they are locked.
