In Store Pick-Up an Option?

For those who ordered using the Apple Store App, was there even an option for in-store pickup?

But who knows, maybe by tomorrow morning it will sell out.

Yeah, maybe it will; sadly it's not much of a consolation. I KNEW I should've taken a holiday for this Friday to wait outside the store. It's the first time I've ever really bought an iPhone that wasn't on a contract, so I was properly excited. I thought I'd get the cat's cream and have a shiny new 5s before everybody else. :(

Ah well. 'Thou shalt not covet' and all that. I must sound like a spoilt brat. ;)

Has anyone seen anything better then 7-10 days for online orders? The say it slipped to 7-10 days. What was it before that if you get in at 12:01?

my order confirmation email came in at 12.01 with the same delivery dates

i will take a wasted trip to the apple store tomorrow but not gonna hold my breath

either way...i can wait until it arrives

7-10d for them to dispatch it from the factory and the other week (might be less at the end) basically to get from china to ireland.

Having tracked these movements for previous releases, they usually arrive a day or two after they leave China.

The time difference means that they arrive in the UK a few hours after they leave. I believe there have been occasions where some are delivered the day after they leave China, but it would only be a max of 3 days.

My point is that the despatch and delivery dates just don't tie up. I'm not sure what that means, but I'd hope that they have overestimated rather than underestimated. I wonder though whether they are giving some leeway for delays in dispatch though.

At what time it will possible to order in NA?
Also, does the site goes down or back online at that time?

lol

Well, it's a good thing they're dry, and not wet!
Just kidding.
It really doesn't surprise me that they're out, it's typical with iPhones because everyone wants them.

At about 11.58 when the sales opened on the App store for me it had 7-10 days. If there were any for earlier delivery it was an extremely small amount.

I've already made my peace with the fact that for the first time since 07, I will not be getting the new iPhone on launch day. I'm going to order online tonight at 3am, have it sent to my office, and get it when I get it.

Yes, but they didn't slip down to 7-10 days.

It started on that timeframe. Myself and others were constantly refreshing until it went live. It's not like they had the stock and then suddenly ran out -- they just didn't have the stock in the first place.

Too many countries all launching at the same time. How many units could Appke have built in time for the launch??? Obviously too many countries at one time

I ordered it using the app at 12.00 am and 15 seconds. It showed 7-10 days delivery. I received a confirmation email at 12.00 am 20 seconds! Dunno why the despatch date it 7-10 Oct! Thats flipping 3-4 weeks!

Seems to be 7th October or later for all of these orders. Makes me wonder if the iPhones they're ordering have even been manufactured yet!

Wonder how long it will be until I can walk into an EE store and buy one? By the looks of things late October or early November :O

Apple uses the JIT manufacturing process, so no they have not been made yet.

But the problem doesn't seem to be not enough units, but no units.

It will be interesting to see what happens when sales open in the States. Maybe the stock is being held back for there.

It will also be interesting to know how many units the shops have.

To be honest, it doesn't matter. It's only a couple of weeks and we know the timeframe. It's an interesting one to follow though.

I bet you my future three 5S iPhones that the 5C will outsell the 5S.

It probably will, but not necessarily at launch. According to news reports in the Guardian and some here, carriers in the UK and US aren't seeing much in the way of preorders. The 5c is geared more toward the mainstream crowd that just walks into a store whenever and gets one. The launch weekend crowd is a combination of early adopters and people who want to be part of a scene.

It's made sense to me now. So this is how Tim's 'doubled down' on secrecy. He opted not to make a single iPhone 5s. You can't leak what hasn't been manufactured!

And TBH with the shipping times immediately being 7-10 working days (and with ETAs of 7th October onwards), I genuinely don't think they've even started manufacturing them. I'll be honest, I'm feeling a little disappointed.

Actually, it is only 2-3 weeks. I thought it was longer when I first looked at it, but the 7th is two weeks next Monday. It's still a long delivery time though.

Does anybody know how much time did it take for the shipping date to be extended since Apple opened the orders for the iPhone 5s?
