If this really happens, then Apple has finally jumped the shark.

Why does it matter how many cores it has? There are so many better things to worry about than how many cores it has.

Four cores doesn't automatically make it better than two until there are worthwhile reasons for the OS to take advantage of the extra resources.
It's an improvement that can't hurt the phone even if iOS doesn't use the four cores. Can help in multi-tasking and gaming as well. Similar to saying it doesn't matter if the iphone 5S has a single core A7 cpu clocked in at 1.4 MHz. Don't see why a quadcore iPhone wouldn't be important to some people.

Care to elaborate or post a link? I'm genuinely curious.

Anandtech has the latest on that sense. Also, bare in mind, the same NAND chips used in Thumb Drives/Flash drives are the same ones used in the iPhone.

Go over to Best Buy and look over San Disk offerings. They usually list speed capabilities of their drives (the higher the speed the more expensive).

I think right now the fastest on 64GB is 45MB/s. But like I said, go over and check it out.

If you are wondering why such low speeds compared to an SSD is due to parallelism. SSD benefit from parallelism in order to boost speeds, but to achieve that you need multiple chips per lane.

I was just saying this on another thread I forget which. 16GB for iPhone 5C and 32, 64, 128 for the 5S/6! I hope it's true. 16GB needs to go!

I'll take a shift in storage size to 32/64/128 GB and more battery life.

I still don't see how the 5C would cost less to manufacture than a 4S ( which Obama has saved), so I'd like to see it turn out that the "C" stands for China, and it turns out to be for China Mobile and not the rest of the world. (I can dream can't I?)

When the champagne colored iPhone 5S drops... it will outsell the other colors.

People will buy it in droves.

This is such a great idea. Apple responding to the continued need of it's customers for more space. And gold is a great color too! :apple:

My continued need is an SD card for storage instead of internal storage that can't be upgraded. Not asking for a tacky card reader in addition to internal storage, just everything (system and all) on an SD card. I'm not saying that it would help Apple to do this. Of course, that would probably make jailbreaking all too easy and profits lower.

The fact that the 4S still uses the 30-pin connector is unsettling. The C would have Lightning.

It is going to be huge in Asia. It will be THE status symbol. They love stuff like that over there. If it only offered in the expensive huge GB size that will just make it even more coveted. But it will also be huge theft target.

The more colorful icon apps is also directed at Asias color sensibilities. It looks a little garish to western eyes, but it doesn't to other cultures. We are seeing a huge Asia play by Apple in the next three months. Launching on China Mobile at the same time is part of this. Get ready for some record sales.

I really hope this rumor is true. I have the 64GB 4S and I have been frustrated recently cause everytime I sync my phone, I always have to make room for more things by deleting stuff. I record video and take a lot of photos and do have apps, partial music library (can only fit about 3000 songs) and a couple of movies. It adds up. Additional space would be nice but I have my doubts at the same time too though because of Apple's direction toward iCloud.
Still keeping my fingers crossed! :)

Keep It Simple

I think Apple will keep the line up very simple. Something like this:

1. The iPhone 4 will be killed right away.
2. The iPhone 4S (8GB) might be killed right away but maybe killed in January (to drain parts stocks).
3. The iPhone 5C will be available in 2 colors at 16GB and in all colors (about 5) at 32GB.
4. The iPhone 5S will be available in white and black at 32GB and 64GB and in champagne at 128GB.
5. Apple will introduce an iPod touch with 128GB (in champagne), and the iPod classic will be killed.
6. Apple may kill the iPod shuffle. There may be a new 4GB iPod nano in one color for $99 to replace it.
