Yay, an iPhone 5 with dual LED flash! That is innovation!!
Lol, but, I'm still hoping that Apple will pull the rabbit out of the hat and introduce redesigned, bigger screen iPhone and scraping this "S" release nonsense. After all, there were no leaks of any kind before new redesigned Mac Pro announcement. If not, I know that like millions of others, I'll be looking for new bigger phone elsewhere...

Who cares about a 4.7 inch screen? The only reason large screens should exist is to give the phone more room for better batteries and other hardware for specs, and the iPhone isn't really lacking in those categories.
Large screen smartphones are very successful so many seem to actually care.

So with a convex home button, wouldn't that mean that when laid face-down, the iPhone would wobble from the extruding home button? I don't see that happening. Apple likes their devices to be flush and fluid as possible. The only main exception to this is the new iPod touch, but the iPhone is Apple's main flagship product now.

Edit: Apparently I need to justify myself because Steve Jobs has spiritually told multiple people that I am putting my phone down wrong. I only have a screen protector and no case on my iPhone 5, so when I place it face-down, it makes it easier for me to pick up.

To be fair, do people typically put their phone down screen side down? I know I never would, except unintentionally.

I put my iPhone down, screen-down, quite often.

(I do use a case that has a lip that protrudes beyond the level of the screen, protecting it.)

There are a couple of scenarios where I do this:
• to stop push notifications on the lock screen distracting me when I'm at work.
• it discourages others from reading incoming messages, emails etc when I place my iPhone on a shared table (eg at a social event)
I know both can be deactivated from the lock screen, but their benefits at all other times outweigh the need to do this for these situations.

Also, placing your iPhone face down allows you to be polite when with company, not letting your phone take priority over a face-to-face conversation. You can discreetly turn it over to check it when appropriate.

WHAT? There is so much room for improvement for the battery. I'd love a 24 hour battery! And let's get a quad core processor! ENOUGH of this "it's good enough" attitude, that's why the iPhone is failing.

I tend to agree. More battery is a biggie. Im not worried about the CPU/GPU, Apple SoC is superior, hence the others go for high speed quad to overcome the generic CPU with the generic Android OS. (Not saying that as a troll). Bigger screen with smaller bezel, reduced or lowered Home button, raised camera, would allow for a small form factor increase

Stupid sheeps follow the butcher.
********ing idiots, excited abou the trash of total control.

Total control? Who is really forcing you to use such device? And even if you use it, most likely you will have an option to unable/disable fingerprint scanner! Such a drama, honestly!!

if they do, it better be a new iphone plus model or something, I DO NOT WANT A BIGGER SCREEN IN MY POCKET. glad people like you aren't in charge of apple.

Even i don't want a giant phone, but if they could make the screen little larger yet keeping the overall dimension somewhat same (can increasae a few millimeter in width wont be much issue) by making the bezel thinner. Like expanding the screen inside the current frame, that would be great. And please no 5.5inch iphone, no, no, no.

I don't know if i'd prefer smaller phone with the same screen size, or something like a 4.3" in the current size. either way, they should also come out with an iphone plus 5" so everyone shuts up.

you quoted poorly atlatnesiti, it's skrewing up everyone who replys to you lol :p

When, for the love of god WHEN will people stop complaining about the screen size of the iPhone?

First of all, this was a topic about a fingerprint sensitive home-button.

Secondly, the form factor of the iPhone is great. What's with the need for 10" phones? I understand that "more screen = more screen" so you can see/do more, but seriously get a tablet if you think like that. Or any friggin' huge Android phone on the market for that matter.

Yes. Although I won't be leaving Apple WHEN the next iPhone is just 4". BUT, I won't be buying a 5S, so still a lost sale. I already have a 5S, as I have a 5. I expect a very low incremental change. They will focus on the 5C and iOS7, and hope to drag the 5S along.

CPU/GPU a little faster, camera a little better, NFC, Fingerprint sensor. None of this interests me as performance is smooth, camera is great, and no need to gimmicks

Yah they support iOS6 on the iPhone 4, but that is the lowest model, so you can expect the lowest performance.

Just like OSX runs on previous iMacs but wont run on iMacs before 2007. Those from 2007 (like my parents) run it, but it's laggy as hell.

OSX what? You need to remember that some of Apples decision to drop support for older hardware is a marketing decision. I'm running ML now on a Mac that is two versions out of date. No lag at all.

I don't know where people get this idea that everything Apple does is cutting edge. It isn't.
They make good gear with respectable perfomance and an excellent, (in my opinion), user interface. Nothing more. I'd wager most of their competitors beat them on a pure performance basis and this is becuase of how thie business model works. People don't just want to go from A to B, they want to enjoy the ride too.

yeah, it is absurd. at least be glad that apple gets it, and if they do come out with a bigger screen, it will be an likely be iphone plus 5", and they will keep the regular iphone as it is. I went and played with some of the big phones in the att store the other day, OMG, no thanks. my ipod touch is big enough in my pocket, wish it was a little smaller actually.

I'm personally hoping for an iphone mini. I want something as small and light as possible, that I can still get directions, or shop on the web in emergencies. get a 7" tablet if you like a big screen, it's way better than a 5" phone anyways.

lol how everyone says apple is failing, everyone is buying the big phones. I was just stuck in an airport for a few days and 9/10 phones were iphones. The attitude in this forum in no way reflects the real world.

mods should just search and delete anything that says "bigger", "4.7" etc, more than half this thread would be gone. :D :apple:

You're not alone. I place my iPhone screen down as well.

Actually, many do. They mention 4.7 typically, not 10. Make a 4 and 4.7, simple, you take your choice. One size doesn't fit all, as the market has shown.

How about stopping repeating the same thing over and over again for years and buying another brand untile Apple makes (if they will make it) a bigger phone?

Judging by massive sales of Samsung, HTC and other 5 inch handsets, millions of people do, millions of iPhone sales lost due to the tiny screen size.

Judging by the massive sales of iPhones millions of people want a smaller screen. Millions of sales lost for android due to only massive screens for their better phones.

Never.

This forum is utterly incapable of holding a discussion about a particular topic. It inevitably descends into a free-for-all about every single criticism every individual has about Apple.

I still didn't understand. Is this a physical button or not? I really hate my iPhone 4 physical button right now!

Me! I want a 4.7 inch and I'm not buying another iPhone until it has at least a 4.7 inch screen. Although probably I will not wait until next year because my iPhone 4 is kind of giving up. Probably I'll switch to a Moto X.

Judging by recent figures, Apple seem to have failed to appreciate just how many Andres there are.

I think people look stupid squinting at their small iPhones as they play games, browse the internet, write texts, look at Facebook, update Twitter, send an email, check out their route on Maps, add a contact, check out their calendar etc. etc. etc. But at least they look good for that 30sec phone call.

My Galaxy S4 is a mini personal computer that just happens to make calls. I'd rather the bigger screen and no fingerprint scanner (which I'd end-up deactivating anyway).

If people are squinting its probably more to do with their eyes than the screen size.

I must admit that a fingerprint sensor has not been something that I have been missing or wished I had on any of my previous phones. There may be other uses as others have intimated (joystick etc) so IMHO, it will be a welcome addition.:)

A larger screen helps.

And why you can't keep doing that?

Siri, Maps, now a fingerprint scanner?! I spot a trend here.

They will make a special one for you, without sire, maps or sensors.... Hopefully you will be happy

----------

It def takes me more than a few seconds to type in my long-ass secure password, so I'd love to be able to just lay my finger on a button. However, I'm sure you'll be able to enter passwords/passcodes manually too.

Don't use it then

----------

Only a month to go before the announcement and we haven't seen any leaked scanner pictures. Either this is the best kept secret yet or there is no scanner.

Probably they haven't arrived to the Foxconn assembly facilities
