So this essentially means that Apple came out with a model with last year's specs and a flagship version and still manages to beat the latest Galaxy with their cheaper version? is this it? Buhahaha. How pathetic Samsung, just pathetic.

This thread is ridiculous. We shouldn't even be comparing S4 sales to iPhone 5x sales as the reason why people buy an iPhone is for iOS which means that there is a loyal customer base with very few options to choose from whereas for Android, there is a very diverse customer base with lots of very good options to choose from. Samsung themselves have several version of the S4 and several versions of the Note. Plus there is the HTC One, LG G2 Sony Experia Z1 that all offer different things to customers who want Android. It's like comparing Mac sales to the sales of one particular brand (say Lenovo) of PC!!!!

At the end of the day, what difference does it make? If you are happy with your choice of phone then who cares if it sold more or less than another model? Did I worry about my decision to buy a Mac because they sell less than PC's? Hell no!!! If anything, the exclusivity was part of the attraction!!

I think Apple is doing fine with the sales. Can't make enough to meeting demand is big + on my side.

I think the bigger point here is that Apple redressed the previous gen phone in a cheaper shell and it's still COMPETING with Samsung's flagship phone... it SHOULD be trailing far behind considering that the GS4 is supposed to be the competition to the 5S.

Sad for Samsung. :(

All I was saying is that you can't really compare Apple and HTC.

Okay, you're welcome to that opinion. What does that accomplish exactly?

Earlier you said Apple and HTC are "far from sinking ships right now"

And I stand by that statement, because it's true.

That may be true...

Thank you for agreeing with me! ;)

but one of those companies is in MUCH better shape.

I'm looking back at my post, and nowhere did I say in that Apple and HTC are both exactly identical in terms of market capitalization, sales or market share. So I'm not sure why you're having such an issue with what I'm saying.

It's perfectly acceptable to compare companies that aren't exact twins of each other. People do it all the time.

There *are* similarities in how outrageously the market "wizards" and armchair CEOs on forums reacted when each company - in their respective time period and in their respective sales figures - had bad quarters. Apple proved them wrong. I suspect that for HTC, this stumble might not be so bad either.

Why you have an issue with this statement, I'm just not sure. And at this point, I'm really not going to waste any more time trying to find out, as I suspect you're so ingrained in your position that there's no point in debating it further. Feel free to continue predicting HTC's demise... for whatever good that'll do ya.

HTC could certainly return to profitability... and I hope they do. But I just don't see how you can compare the two companies.

Sorry you can't see the similarity. Given the exceedingly strict criteria you have for making comparisons of any kind, I wish you the best of luck having any fruitful conversations, at all.

I think some people like to confuse availability with sales. One doesn't mean the other.

Meaning - just because the S4 has availability does not mean it's not or hasn't sold well. Units sold is all that matters. Not how many are produced

An over exaggeration - Apple could make 10 phones and sell out and there would be huge deman. Samsung could make 100 phones and have 50 left.

Both new Apple models are obviously selling extremely well. So's the S4. And so is the HTC Once.

The pissing contest is pathetic. Shouldn't people care more about having a phone that they love and works best for them vs the most popular or best selling phone.

Or is that just tooooooo crazy?

if you're quoting someone else's comment about the 5S after not being available and S4 being available cuz its been out, i think you missed the part where the 5S is unavailable yet ALREADY outselling the S4... thats the difference. obviously once the supply catches up to the demand the S4 will be even farther behind.. while still being easily available the whole time.

And isn't the GS4 BOGOF since last month? Wonder why that is if it is selling so well.

The comment that started it all was this:

To be fair, HTC isn't doing that bad, actually.

I understand how the word "that" modifies the statement. But it's still bad.

I'm just curious how you would define "bad"

Let's say there is a scale from good to bad... with many points in between.

Where would HTC fall on that scale right now? They just had their worst quarter in history... that's definitely near the bottom of that scale.

I'm just trying to figure out your differences between "isn't doing that bad" and "actually doing bad"

So are any companies doing bad? Maybe your scale is off ;)

Yeah... I'm just gonna let the absurdity of the above speak for itself.
