I do wish I could set it to something other than "immediately", but the amount of time saved versus typing a passcode is worth the price of admission.

Excuse me for sounding ignorant, but the iPhone 5 is my very first iPhone...

How do you access touch ID? I thought I saw everything in system preferences. I learn something new every time I turn my new iPhone on.

Doesn't work great with chapped hands

It works only occassionally for me, enough so that I could live without it. My hands tend to be dry and chapped (cooler, drier weather doesn't help), and unless I hit the sensor with the one part of my thumb that isn't, doesn't work. Not worth constantly recalibrating. My passcode is second nature.

Which isn't to say that the feature isn't a great one, it's just that it has its limits.

Why? It's brilliant.

Sorry I am no sheep. Just because Apple put something in their phone, it does not mean I must use it and I am not alone.

I have no need to use it. I do not leave my phone laying around and even if it does get stolen, all sensitive data is locked up in a digital vault. In 25 years I have never had a problem where I and my phone were separated.

Again, I have no reason to use the finger reader.

Past experience of this nature have absolutely no bearing on the possibility of future experiences.

And of course, you have the option to use it or not. It doesn't affect me one way or another. I was just wondering why you'd choose not to use it when it is absolutely seamless. It's almost as fast as not using a password at all.

And how on earth is someone a sheep for using a primary usability feature on their phone?

I would bet that way more are NOT using this feature that you and "others" think. Like I said, I have no need or want for this service and just because Apple put it there does not mean I want or should want to use it.

I would never have used the "sheep" word except I got tired of hearing baaaaaaaaaa because I choose not to use it! It was wrong and I would never want anyone to think I was calling them a sheep!:D
