iPhone 5s Will Not Be Available for Pre-Order

Is it likely to be "an extra couple of days" or "months"?

I haven't participated in an iPhone launch before - which is closer to reality?

Walk me through your logic here.

If you order it the second it goes on sale and there are preorders, you get it right away.

But if you order it the second it goes on sale and there are no preorders, you get it in 3 months?

I doubt it will work that way. Just order it as fast as you can once it goes on sale online.

I don't tell my wife what she can and can't buy. To be honest, I welcomed her getting rid of her Galaxy Note so I did not have to hear her b*tch about it every day...Plus she allowed to be an Anniversary gift...2 birds with one stone...
 
My guess is they expect to sell more of the 5C vs the 5S and their production has been tailored right now for the 5C.
 
Interestingly, on Apple's Chinese website it states that you can order 5s starting from 9/17 and pick it up from an Apple store on the 20th. But I guess this is more due to limited supply in China, and whoever plans to go to Apple store on launch day better secure one online first if he/she doesn't want to wait in the line for nothing.
 
Pre-orders and working from home on launch day are time-honored traditions! And, yeah. If they have very little stock and no pre-orders? They'll ship it to the stores. I've never stood in line for one and I've owned every model.

I think this is gonna piss off more people than it makes happy.
 
Still gonna order the 5S from the Apple website on the 20th, regardless. No pre-orders doesn't make me feel like I need to stand in line for it.

Or they want anxious users to preorder the 5C rather than waiting for the 5S :eek:

No big deal though, I will order on the 20th and whenever it comes, it comes.
 
It looks like it's available for order on the Apple Store web site, unless I'm reading it wrong. The store on my iPhone 5.
 
I also don't understand why Apple doesn't allow any pre-orders. I guess I will have to go to a store and get it..
I am getting an iPhone 5S White/silver 32Gb..
 
I was looking forward to pre-ordering the 5S on 13th too :(. Drats. Looks like I'm gonna have to wait until it becomes available again.

Everything that could be known about the iPhone was known before today so why are you all bent all out of shape. What did you expect? You realize nobody is forcing you to buy this, right?
 
I think they're trying to launch in more countries simultaneously than ever before.

That's probably all there is to this.

Sucks for us, yes, but it's not quite the conspiracy some are making it out to be.

Oh please. The first iPhone didn't have pre-order, so yes he did the same damn thing.

It's disappointing that I won't get to play with the phone over the weekend. <first world problems>
I'll online order on the 20th and cross my fingers for store pickup that weekend.

There was already some stories about low volumes from production a few weeks ago, so this is probably because of that.

This is the most likely scenario.
 
Huh, kinda slightly annoyed. Just simply because i really did enjoy getting up at 3am EST and being able to track my iPhone as it came to my doorstep. I guess I will have to wait in a line. So i guess I have to get to my store on Thursday night.

1. I have one Apple Store in my state, should I go to that? Or would it be better to go to my local Verizon corporate store?
2. Will they be doing midnight launches or will it be when the store opens the next day?
3. I am not the account holder with VZW, but I am an account manager, will I be able to buy it in the store with an upgrade.
4. Does anyone know if the carriers will be doing preorders?
