Or just buy a bigger iPad. The mini is lacking, it's bigger than a phone but not as big as a proper tablet. The 8" tablet size is great for those who need portability, but if we have a bigger phone then we can use a larger iPad whilst at home or in hotels etc. Who in their right mind buys a phone, a mid-size tablet and a full-size tablet? Something has to give. Apple will still sell iPads, they'll just lose some sales of the mini - but then those who bought the mini wouldn't have bought the full-size tablet anyway, so it's swings and roundabouts. Steve Jobs was against the mini tablet anyway, and if bigger phones kill it (unlikely) then so what. Apple will sell more iPhones and more full-size tablets. The mini will become a specialist niche product for those who really need it and let's face it, only the 5.5" iPhone is likely to rob sales from the mini. The 4.7" won't, and judging by a lot of threads on this forum, the majority of people will buy the 4.7" i6 anyway.
A 4:3 7.9" mini is much bigger then a 5.5" iPhone. I think only people that read specs and don't actually look at them will not buy it.
