But, but, but my Galaxy S5 has a quad core processor that runs circles around dual core processors!!!
To be fair, the iPhone 6 iPhone 6 Plus are way way behind when you look at how they fared in the physics test: http://www.anandtech.com/show/8559/iphone-6-and-iphone-6-plus-preliminary-results

the iPhone 5 scored higher than the iPhone 5S in the battery test?

call me surprised, my iPhone 5 battery sucks and i am on the 2nd replacement device

Is it possible you have one with a faulty battery? I do and the battery life is indeed horrendous.

I love my 6 Plus, the screen size is perfect.

Question - does frame rate mean it's only running 15 frames per second when I play an HD movie on it? If so that can't be too good.

Or is the score only for gaming? Thanks.

This says the battery life is great. Doing a Google search this morning to see what the reviews were, i found nothing even remotely like this article claims. I'm an Apple fan.......and this is an Apple fan site. So while I'd like to believe this article, there's a ton of seemingly non-partisan reviews that say totally different.

My iPhone 5 sucks major for battery life. No tweak of preferences or apps settings changes that. Even a total reset and basic minimal apps make the battery last barely 5 hours with nearly no usage And yet, the gurus say it's not a serial number that has a battery recall and is operating correctly.

My fan attitude is fading.......

That's fine and dandy, but do we play our games on or off-screen? :)

I would say off-screen. It's easier for the developers to render everything off-screen and then to scale up the result on-screen. It's faster, it makes it easier to target different devices and it's good enough on a small device...
It's like on a PC. You might have a 4k monitor and a high-end GPU, but many games nowadays use low-res textures made for consoles anyway...

Ouch. Even though Macrumors is for us Apple fans, it wouldn't hurt to show some of the tests where the new iPhones didn't fare so well. Guess I have to go to AnandTech to get the full picture.

However, physics is one of the few times where all 4 cores of the android phones are being used... The Apple vs Android CPU debate reminds of AMD/Intel, Intel has superior IPC vs AMD, while AMD sells quads or octocore for thee same price as Intel does dual/quads. Meanwhile, Intel cpu's kill the AMD's in RL apps as the vast majority of apps only utilize single or dual core.

I take this article with a pinch. Since gfxbench hasn't integrated Metal language into its benchmarking scheme, the graphics results for rendering are lower than they will be once Metal is added to the app. Expect the 6 plus to shoot dramatically once the new results appear.

Benchmarks don't tell the whole story. Even though the 6+ doesn't score as high on the Gpu test you will never notice it in regular usage. Forget the note 4, wait till the Galaxy S6 and HTC M9 come out, they will obliterate benchmarks with the newest 64 bit snapdragon 810 and android L.

Your point about future devices is irrelevant. Of course future devices will be faster than current or previous generations. It's called progress.

But in reality, how many people actually walk around with an extra battery fully charged in their pockets?

The 1 guy that you quoted! :D

The 6+ only lags in onscreen performance compared to the 6 b/c it has so many more pixels >.>

The offscreen performance is pretty indicative of this trend.

Can anyone with a 6 Plus comment on the graphics? How well is it running things like games?

My plus seems to handle graphics just fine (coming from a iPhone 5).

I was playing Dead Trigger 2, which really needs to be fluidic to enjoy, and it was running extremely smooth... And I'm not even sure that was optimized for metal or anything...

6+ does quite well. It is very smooth, and honestly, I'm surprised by the benchmark because it does not, in my opinion, reflect my real world experience with the phone.

You should probably understand that if someone says, "It's not the world's fastest phone", that does not mean it is dog crap.

Doubtful. Also do tell me again why you need a QHD screens on tiny phones besides draining unnecessary battery.

the higher resolution Note 4 screen is more efficient than the previous Note 3. testing has already been done. That being the case, why not add higher resolution to the screen? 20/20 vision at 14-16 inches and you will see it.

But in reality, how many people actually walk around with an extra battery fully charged in their pockets?

Of course, to be fair, there are a number of battery cases (e.g., Mophie's juice packs) for iPhones because its battery life has been less than stellar in practice. It's looking like the iPhone 6 is better but we'll see how it plays out over time.

I'm finally switching to an iPhone after 3 Android devices over the years, none of which had particularly good battery life so the iPhone 6 will be an improvement for me.
