Those tests are ridiculous since every single drop is different...
To purposely destroy two expensive devices just to make a YouTube video is plain stupid.

I am so disappointed

I suspect I'm not alone.

I too was thinking along them lines. As much as I WANT it. I can't see my self with this phone just yet. Or this year for that matter. On the other hand... YES I'll be lining up in the (iCue) for the :apple:watch. It works with my iPhone 5s so I'm super happy :)

I'll be waiting for the 6s+ anyway since I have a 5s under contract for another year and will pick up a case when I get it.

Got an OtterBox on my 5s so I don't care about how thin it is or even the color!

I like it and at least I know it's safer then being naked!

Some of us live in homes with hard flooring -- even concrete flooring. I have dropped my 5s many, many times. I know already based on my iPhone 6 knockoff that I will drop the 6 even more so. A decrease in durability isn't a good thing in my opinion.

Decrease wasn't proved

You're missing the new option under Settings > Levitate that will automatically recognize when your phone drops with various sensors that detect speed and pressure, and will use it's internal gravitational minerals to float your iPhone safely above ground.

Ahahah looking for Settings- Levitate....:D

I never understand why these people spend all this money on an iPhone just to drop it on the ground on YouTube for a few views. Give me that damn Phone if you're gonna Eff it up. Sheesh.

I agree, it seems completely retarded.

I think they've actually provided a good service to iPhone customers the world over: use without a case at your peril!

Also, it puts the spotlight on Apple about the fragility of their phones.

bummer to see those break so quickly but if Apple is running the screen to very edge of the frame, of course it is going to break easier. No bevel = more busted screens.

Solution?

Don't drop your bloody phone then! I've never once dropped my phone or caused damage to it as a result of careless behaviour. I'm constantly amazed at how many people regularly smash their screens, a figure which conveniently rises towards a new release! Maybe ppl are just far less careful or preotective of their expensive gadgets these days, such as we live in such a 'disposable' society!

Sound policy. If and when the :apple:Watch catches on, that should cut down on accidental drops somewhat. Phone stays safely tucked away for many ordinary functions where the 'watch' will be our phone interface.

If your not going to use it, why have one?

This is disappointing. I'm still on a 4S (6 arriving tomorrow), and I've dropped it on concrete several times and sustained barely any damage, certainly no cracks.

Is the glass thinner now (because it must be oh so thin), or what?

The phones are heavier. There will be more energy to be dissipated when it lands. It may be that it will even land at higher speed because final velocity will be higher due to the higher weight.

I'm sure they just get the cracked phones (that they just "accidentally" dropped) replaced under the Applecare+ warranty that they conveniently bought when got their phones.

Then someone at their Apple store reads MacRumors, checks the video, sees that they got an Applecare+ warranty replacement for an item that they damaged intentionally, and suddenly they go to court for insurance fraud.

i never get a case, to bulky. if it drops it drops and i just get it replaced by my insurance. it is even convenient at some point when the battery is starting to suck
