I've been reading this thread and it seems to get a bit heated at times, but I just need to say, and this is not meant to be offensive, but I don't understand how these phones are being bent by you guys. I keep my Plus in my front pocket and it hasn't bent. I have had it since launch day. I drive in my car with it in my pocket, I walk around all day with it in my pocket, and I do not baby it it at all. The guy says it bent in his pocket while sitting at a theater?

I just don't buy it. I have it in my pocket a hell of a lot more than a couple hours at a time and after several months it has not bent? Why?

The only thing that makes sense would be the suggestion another poster had about there having been a bad batch.

I've had my 6 Plus since launch day and I use it the same way you do, mine isn't bent either. Key difference is that I recognize that I am not everyone and everyone is not me. My phone isn't their phone and their phone isn't my phone. The number of complains about bending iPhones is a clear indication something is not right.

Yes it does. It indicates that out of 70 million iPhones sold last quarter a few hundred of them bent due to stupidity on the part of the owners.

Do you think the folks with bent iPhone's have never had a phone before? Do you think they had the bending issue with all their prior phones?

Why do you even believe that these people have an iPhone, much less that they bent under normal usage?

Why do so many people take as gospel claims from anonymous people on the internet?

It isn't as if there are people, or even companies, who make false claims in forums, right?

Whatever happened to hairgate? That attempt never took off despite people's efforts.

(p.s. I am a French model, bonjour, and my iPhone never bent even when I was walking on the catwalk in my tight jeans).

I expect that by the end of a typical two year contract, hundreds of thousands worldwide will have bent. Hardly anyone babies their phones and these iPhone 6 models are pretty fragile. I baby mine and fully expect it not to bend, but I don't know anyone who doesn't throw their phone around and put it in their pockets etc. How many of these things have Apple sold? Tens of millions? You really think that only a few hundred will get bent??

I don't know that you can realistically make that argument after you quantity the current known cases. That means that you'd suddenly need to see a sharp increase in these cases being reported, which we just simply have not seen.

How many reports do we see? I see none. No official reports regarding returns of bent iPhones to Apple stores or carriers.
Out of the millions of iPhone users worldwide, how many are members here? How many post? Anyone who makes any claims as to no bends, some bends, or lots of bends is going off what they've seen on this forum and You Tube. None of us know for sure, but I think we can all mostly agree that the i6 and especially the 6+ are rather fragile compared to most other phones. Totting-up the millions sold, and factoring in how most people generally abuse their phones, then it's not hard to imagine that a fair number are going to get bent. Not half, not one in five, but a large number out of the seventy-odd million sold thus far.

I have no idea how many will get bent, nor do I even care. I don't even think it is a serious issue. I think a few hundred is a lot more realistic than hundreds of thousands. People who treat delicate electronic devices by throwing them around deserve to have a bent phone. And then the crybabies will complain that they did nothing wrong. The phone magically bent all by itself.

I'm now convinced you lack the mental capacity to understand the topic.

It's not just random people. There are photos, and all the bends have a very similar pattern. They all bend in the weak points on the frame where the cut outs are. That isn't coincidence. The fact that Apple is replacing bent phones that don't show signs of the phone having been dropped is another very clear indication that the problem is not as isolated as enthusiasts like yourself would like to believe.

The fact that you have to resort to insulting me proves you have no real facts to back up your wild stories.

And why are you wasting your time replying to this thread?

You called several people cry babies and essentially liars... I'm not insulting you, i'm stating an observation. If after all these posts you still think people are claiming their phones are spontaneously bending, then you DO lack the mental capacity to understand the issue. There is only one other option and that's trolling. I don't see that you have a 3rd option here given the nature of the posts in this thread. So which is it? Are you trolling or are you genuinely that confused?

Also, if you look at the photos, you'll see my stories aren't wild. There are bent phones, and they are bending at weak points in the frame. So again, are you trolling or confused?

EDIT: You also need to figure out how to quote properly. I fixed this one for you. You're welcome.

So how do the phones bend then? If it is not by dropping them, sitting on them or magic what bends the phones?

This thread is still going?

Every time I pop my head in its the same two arguments being regurgitated over and over again. :p

Hey, this is more fun than sex.

Lol.

The running theory or claim is that they bend in the front pocket. I can say that mine has not done this. Can I say with absolute certainty that this is not possible? No, I can not.

The number of complains about bending iPhones is a clear indication something is not right.

So, then what is it? What's not right? Was your iPhone and my iPhone made special? Different materials? I mean, saying that something is not right isn't really good enough of an answer to give validity to iPhones bending under normal use while other iPhones are not.

I could believe a bad batch, but it must have been weaved in and out of the supply because I got mine on launch day, so did you, but we have others who have gotten them much later and their iPhones don't bend either.

I just don't buy it.

That doesn't explain how they get bent, that just tells me where they are when they get bent. How do you have a phone in your front pocket, it gets bent and you don't have anything to do with it getting bent? I carry mine in my front pocket and it has not gotten bent.

Nobody wants to take responsibility. Its like, my gun went off and shot someone. Or my car spun out of control and hit someone.

Exactly. The dog ate my homework. And you can't claim it is Apple's fault if it really was your fault. Can't get a free replacement that way.

I'm not a metallurgist or an engineer to be able to tell you exactly what apple needs to do differently, other than to tell you the phones need to be able to better handle well... Being handled.

There's a lot more being said than the phones aren't right if you'd bother to not ignore everything else. We have phones bending, a lot more so than any other phone before it, and in all likelihood, after it. We have videos and photos, we have folks at the genius bars confirming they're seeing a lot of bent iPhone 6's, we have Phil Schiller coming out and releasing a statement, and in that statement saying Apple will replace the phones. We have folks in this forum who have bent their iPhone 6's and never bent any iPhone before it. But go ahead and think it's all made up if it makes you feel better about your beloved Apple. In the mean time, everything I've said will remain true and more phones will continue to bend... Until the 6S when Apple will magically fix these issues that you think don't exist.

No one is questioning the fact that there are bent phones, that is obvious. The problem comes from people wanting us to believe the phones magically bend all by themselves. It takes a lot of pressure to bend a phone and if the phone is in your pocket when it gets bent then you did something wrong to cause it to bend. But every one claims they had nothing to do with the bending. I am to believe that a phone bent in a pocket and the owner had no idea it was happening?

The bent phones are not a result of a design flaw. Apple sold 73 million iPhones last quarter. If you are generous and claim that there are now 100,000 bent phones in the world that is only one out of every 730 phones that are defective. If it was a bad design then they would have millions upon millions of phones bending and there would have been a recall. Most manufacturers would love to have so low of a defect ratio.

My guess is they got a few bad batches of aluminum and those are the ones that bent. Or after Apple released the 6 and started replacing bent phones they might have strengthened up the aluminum.

If you want to argue you should stop making things up. Not one person has claimed there isn't bent phones. And it is not my beloved Apple. In fact I hate Apple. You don't even want to hear my opinion of Steve Jobs, I would be hung from the rafters here. I have been using and programming computers since the 70s. I started using Windows 2.1 in 1987. The only Apple product I own is my iPhone. And it has not magically bent.

Instead of making things up why don't you answer my question and tell me how the phones are being bent? I really want to know how this happens but you can't tell me. Instead you believe everyone who is claiming they had nothing to do with the phone being bent. Do you believe everything you read on the Internet?

I'll answer your question when you answer mine. Are you trolling or are you really that daft? Trolling is against the forum rules, being simple minded isn't. Which one is it?

No I am not trolling. Just because I disagree with you does not mean I am trolling. Now tell me how are the phones getting bent.

I didn't accuse you of trolling, I said you're EITHER trolling or are incapable of actually understanding the issue. The bolded part is not something you can agree or disagree on. It's a verifiable fact no one has made the claim you keep repeating. Since you're not trolling, you've confirmed it's the latter.

The phones are bending because there are weak points in the frame that are not able to handle the stress that's being applied to them. Stress that other phones (that includes other iphones) don't have an issue holding up to. Stresses not due to abnormal handling/carrying of the phone.

I understand the issue clearly I know where they are bent. What I want to know is how does the bending occur. And you can't answer that question.

Pretty sure you don't understand it since you keep repeating the same thing over and over again. The fact that I just answered your question and you just asked it again is further evidence of that. This is about as basic as I can make it. If you don't get it, you probably never will.
