I hate car analogies, but that's like saying it's the driver's fault that his engine failed at 70 mph just because you never had trouble at 50 mph.

Relatively speaking, there aren't that many places where it is legal to drive 70.
If you are in one of those areas, you should buy a car designed for that speed.

I'm wondering if they would cover it

If they don't, direct the genius bar employees to the following link.

Yeah, that's like every car out there. When was the last time you bought a car that wasn't designed to go 70?

Just like every phone out there should survive being placed in a pocket with the person doing normal day to day things while it's in there

The good news is if you live a long ways from an Apple Store and yours is bent, they bend back easily. I watched it being done. With care it can be brought back to nearly the same as previous to being bent. Then inside a case it's no longer noticeable.

Apple most certainly won't make this same mistake next year. They never repeat big mistakes. I'm eager to buy the upcoming model with it's plethora of improvements.

With Apple history reveals the second generation is the one to have. :)

To be clear... my iPhone 6 is not bent, but then again, since bendgate, I do not treat it like I've treated all of my past iPhones.

Here's how my day goes.

- I wake up and unplug my iPhone.
- It goes in my pocket.
- I get in my car, take my iPhone out of my pocket and put it in the center console of the car.
- I get to work, get out of my car and put it back in my pocket.
- I take it out of my pocket and place it on my desk
- I go about my day
- I put it in my pocket, walk to my car, get in my car and take it out of my pocket and drive home.

As you can see, it's only ever in my pocket for short walks, and I never leave it in my pocket while sitting to drive, or sitting at my desk.

With all of my previous iPhones, they would be in my pocket ALL day EVERY day and even in the car. I didn't worry about it back then because it wasn't an issue.

It kinda sucks to be at work and not have my phone on me when I'm not at my desk. If a conversation sparks up the need to look something up, the iPhone isn't nearby to use as a tool.

I know, I know, I shouldn't be using my iPhone at work, but regardless of that, it sucks not having it... seems like a waste of money if I never really get to use it, you know?

BUT IT'S NOT BENT! So I have that going for me, which is nice.

Edit: So from what some of you are saying... if I sat down all day with my iPhone in my pocket, that means I was obviously being careless and I caused it to bend? So, therefore it's my fault and I shouldn't have purchased an expensive device if I do not treat it with extreme care.

That in no way excuses a fragile, buggy device with insufficient RAM being released to market and sold for premium prices.

Exactly.....or how many people just drive the speed limit anyways?

This is exactly what I do except when I leave my desk, I put my phone in my pocket so that I have it with me.

My iPhone isn't bent either. I have adjusted to not leaving it in a pocket all the time, which wasn't that hard of an adjustment to make. Now, I don't even think about it, and my enjoyment of the phone is not diminished.

It is pretty simple: adjust and enjoy or don't buy. You can wait to see if the next model is what you consider to be more sturdy if you wish, but i have a feeling that thinness is here to stay, and so is this form factor.

Have you driven on most freeways across the US? Do people drive the posted speed limit? No.....most go about 10 or more mph over the limit.

Right, a good thing Apple does not release fragile, buggy devices with insufficient ram. If you consider an iPhone 6 fragile it is not the right device for you. I do not consider it fragile, it's a daily workhorse.

No, i'm talking like it's much more wide spread that it should be. A whole lot more iPhone 6's being bent than any other phone, including other iPhone's. That's the reality, argue with it all you want, it will still remain reality. Obviously the phones aren't bending spontaneously, can't believe some people are so dense whether intentional or by nature on the matter, but when they aren't durable enough for so many users to be placed in a pocket, that's an issue.

Agreed. Kinda....

I contend that they can be place in you front pocket without being bent just not your back pocket.

This reality that you are talking about hasn't been proven in any way and you can argue all you like, but the numbers don't support this being a wide spread issue.

I keep my phone in my pocket all day and take it out only when driving our at my desk.
If I leave my desk, back in the pocket and when not at work phone is in pocket.

I am saying that you can sit with you phone in your pocket all day without it bending. That type of normal usage will not cause bending.

Aaaand this is why I buy AppleCare+, $80 for a no-questions-asked replacement seems like a better way to spend money than on a case that masks the design.

So I was at an Apple store last weekend to take care of non-iphone issue. They had me go through an appointment w/Genius for my issue , so I figured I'd take opportunity to ask his impressions about the iPhone 6 while there.

I told him I was considering upgrading from my 5, but was on the fence about whether to wait it out til 6s. He knew where I was going with this already. He also had a 5 and said he himself was waiting til the 6s to upgrade. I asked him about QC issues and, reading my mind, said, "yeah we've seen a lot of bent 6's".

In light of this, I tend to think that with this redesign, it demands more careful handling habits - which many prior iPhone customers have not been used to. And there's the rub. Should prior iPhone users expect to have to change their habits with a new redesign to ensure no bent phone? In other words, put phone in your pocket at your own risk - maybe it will bend, maybe it won't. Clearly some users have not had any issues for whatever reason, but multiple testimonies exist of those who have had problems and who deem this unacceptable - and it's not like they have suddenly become rough with their phones with this new iPhone 6. They are using their phones like they always have. It's just that now - for many - these phones must be handled with more care.

BTW, my guess is that there are many phones out there with a slight bend to them but have not been reported/exchanged because the users either have not really noticed or don't care, as it doesn't affect phones usability ("yet", some might argue).

What numbers? The one where Apple said they've had 9 calls? We know that's BS since we've seen more than 9 complaints on this forum alone. And why hasn't this been such a wide spread issue with any other phone ever, including past iPhones? If you look past the lie that is "we've only received 9 calls" it's very clear the numbers do support it.

LOL. Show me one new production car that can't go the ludicrous speed of 70 MPH.

I did this with all my previous Iphone's. I never like the way my phone flet in my pocket, so I have always took it out when sitting or driving etc.

This is not true. Google.

----------

And if this is the case, then it's your problem, not Apple's.

But this isn't true. There are countless pictures of older iPhones bending as well. Guess what? None of my iPhones have ever bent and I have owned them all! So, again, your iPhones bending is your problem. Figure out what your doing wrong and fix it, or stop bitching.

This is obvious people abuse their phones, then bitch when something happens to them. All the while saying, "I baby my phone, I don't know how this could have happened!" Well, I do. You abuse your phone.

Again, that isn't true...there is plenty of evidence that says otherwise.

Apparently, i don't just represent myself based off of the millions of people who don't bend their phones. That is a huge sample size and it is a hell of a lot more that you and the few others that come here and bitch about how it is Apple's fault that you abuse your phone.
Probably you didn't or cannot notice slightly bend phone. I have personally changed 2 iPhone5 and 3 iPhone 5s due to bending. All were always in apple genuine leather case. With iPhone 6 thinner, I am very sure it is more fragile. This is the only reason i shifted to Samsung to have piece of mind from bending. So far 8 months have passed with Galaxy Note 3 and 2 months with Galaxy S5. No bend so far.

Glad u were able to find a more stronger and more durable phone, but out of curiosity how in the world did u bend 2 iPhone 5 and 3 5S? Man what are doing with these phones, turning lug blots or what?

There is no reason to bend this phone. It will NOT bend under normal, reasonable expected device usage. People have just grown complacent with using things and expect too much. There are too many analogies out there - most of which carry their own relevance. But for an electronic device, it's made of glass, metal and circuit boards. Oh, it's also very expensive. It should never be put in a position to get bent unless it is accidental - and if it's accidental, that's your fault, too.
This has bugged me since seeing numerous YouTube videos go up with fools deliberately bending their iPhones. Sure... they'll bend. If you make them. They won't do it on their own. Ever. Mine has been fine with the same use I have exercised since my iPhone 3.

It's "flawed"? It works as advertised. Period. NO one said to mistreat your tech. People are so entitled today. The previous antenna issue of the 4 was an issue - that was a flaw. There's a difference. Just pointing that out.

Show me the advertisements specifically mentioning how the phone will or will not bend. I haven't seen them.
