I was at the Apple Store in Towson, MD looking at a retina iMac. You still find some of their display models bent.

Lol.

Because every other idiot who walks in will give the phone a little flex to see if what his friends told him were true. Multiply by the hundreds of people who will handle that one device in a single day, times three months and I'd say that iPhone is in fairly good condition. ;)

It is idiotic to see if a phone will bend with a little flex?

You say no intentional force, but it did see unintentional force and bent. Because you didn't do it on purpose you feel Apple should replace it?
Let's face it these things are thin and fragile and will bend in your pocket.

Wrong wording. Not unintentional either, but no other phone has this issue. If it actually happened to you, maybe you wouldn't be putting the blame on me. There are phones just as thin (ie. GS5) with a reinforced steel frame that don't have these issues. Apple's simply hiding it like they do with all the issues they don't want to take blame for. I don't see how a design flaw is at the fault of the consumer. Never sat on it since it's never in my back pocket, no dings. Really don't know how it got there, except for being in my front pocket, which shouldn't cause bending as it is. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fanboy as much as the next guy, but this is a mistake on Apple's part and they shouldn't be blaming the consumer. "Don't put it in your pocket". Good idea.
I'll also be chatting with Apple online tonight to see if they're willing to budge. A lot of the times it depends on which Genius you deal with. I don't see anything immoral about this either.

Edit: Two and a half hours of chatting later, a Senior Apple Advisor made an exception for a replacement. At least it ended on good terms. Headed to the Apple Store for it tomorrow.

Depends on how "little" your "flex" is. If you're damaging store property I think you probably know the answer to your own question.

Hey New Years resolution for ya....quit saying this same dribble over and over again.

It isn't "dribble." Sorry you don't like hearing it, but it's still true. "In my pocket" is a place, not a cause. No matter how many times people say "my iPhone got bent from being in my pocket" it'll still be a meaningless statement.

I'm glad they replaced it for you. Yes Apple could have made it stronger and they should have but it is what it is.

Just got back from the Apple Store - they were nice. Replaced it with a brand new one. Tempted to chat regarding my leather case since that's not 100% straight either.

I never claim to be perfect, yet I take great care of my smartphones and Mac Laptop's. Twenty years of stellar service and the only issue I've ever had was the rather fragile iP6+ I use. All prior smartphones (over 40) have held up without any cosmetic issues much less structural like these phones.

I carry mine in hand or in a dedicated front pocket, and always removed when sitting. Yet the first one bent. Apple graciously replaced it. I became extremely wary and careful. Eight weeks later another bent phone. Once again Apple replaces it without hesitation.

2015 simply cannot come fast enough. I_know_ Apple will build them better the second time around.

I've been very careful of my iPhone 6 and I check it every couple of days to make sure it hasn't been bent, but that doesn't mean that it won't bend eventually. I don't believe all these people who say the iPhone won't bend by simply being in your pocket because it's not just your pocket that is causing the bend, but the force between your leg and the fabric of your pants put pressure on the phone itself. Numerous times, I've seen my iPhone turn completely 90 degrees in my jeans pocket and if I sit down like that, I can see and feel lots of force being applied to my phone as my leg acts as a focal point and the top and bottom of my phone attempt to wrap around my leg as my pants get tight and stretch over the phone.

Tell people to stop implying that putting a phone in your pocket will make it bend.

I don't believe it. Phones don't "just bend." You did something to bend it.

You're right. Phones don't just bend just sitting there, but there are "normal" situations that might accidentally cause it to bend where phones that came before it did not. Sitting down with your phone in your pocket is not something that is abnormal in my opinion.

Funny I would think the idiots are those buying a device that spends a good portion of its time in an area that subject it constistent little flexes, like say a case or a pocket. And then defending the corporation that made this product weak enough to bend in these conditions and not return to form.

If I heard these rumors I would give the phone a little flex before I spent a grand on it. But I guess that makes me the idiot.

You're assuming that your leg is 100% solid and doesn't flex at all.

No evidence suggests that the scenerio above leads to bent phones. Your "repeated little flexes" theory is based on nothing but your own speculation.

Chances are that the phones that have "bent under normal use" were either already bent out of the box(you know, manufacturing tolerances) or it wasn't actually normal use.

For the record, I've had my iPhone 6+ for almost a month now and I haven't seen a bend. I don't have a case on it and I don't baby it. I keep it in my pocket when I sit down. I don't wear skinny jeans and I don't obsessively check my phone for flatness.

Funny, but my Plus doesn't bend and I keep it in my front pants pocket, coat pocket or carry it. I don't sit on it or mistreat it, which is what you all do, and then come here and complain that your phone isn't indestructible. So, yeah, you are an idiot.

Well I am sure everyone who has had to deal with returning a bent iPhone is happy to hear that there are absolutely no issues since your personal device is fine Ashtar.

Hey I hear Apple quality control is looking for candidates like you. Might want to think about it.

Yeah, it does flex a little bit, but there is a bone in there you know and at a certain point, something has to give.

Have you ever snapped a branch over your leg or anything? You know for a fact that it's not pillow soft, there are very strong muscles in there and BONE.

So yeah, I don't believe that it is impossible for the iPhone to bend against your leg.

If your phone is pressing so hard into your leg that it is flexing against the BONE, you're doing something wrong and you're probably going to hurt yourself. Muscles have some flex and it isn't the same as a fulcrum in the middle of the phone. Your leg is going to conform to the shape of the phone for the most part.

Whatever you say Mr. Wizard. Without any proof, I have a hard time believing you just as much as you have a hard time believing me.

The side of my leg is pretty hard. Then again I run daily and am not a fatty. Maybe that is the difference here.

I don't care if they are happy to hear it or not...it's the truth. People haven't had to "deal with returning a bent iPhone", they have had to deal with returning an iPhone that they bent.

I'd be glad to work for them, and I'd take a harsher stance with people like you, and deny your replacement. As you left the store, I'd tell you to stop being an unrealistic pansy, and to not bend your phones.

Metal objects bend, I don't know why people find that surprising. Go buy a galaxy or buy looser fitting pants.

p.s The screens on rMBP's also flex when weight is put on them, shocking I know but such is the world we live in....

Good to know where you stand. Defend Apple no matter what.

Funny because the 5s doesn't bend without extreme force. And I am not putting any MBPs in my pocket.

Good to know where you stand.

Isn't that the whole point of offering an opinion?

Defend Apple no matter what.

No matter what? Good god, man, stop being such a fool. This isn't an issue for Apple. This is an issue for you guys who can't seem to not bend your phones. You remind me of this up and coming generation (don't know your age) of people who think that anything they are not happy with, whether they cause it or not, should be fixed. It's entitlement run amok.

Funny because neither does the iPhone 6.

Nothing you just responded has any truth to it at all.

If you truly believe that, then you have just proving to everyone here that you are a troll, and you are not worth my time.

You are invisible now.

Yeah dude that sucks. Its kind of hard to get anything done at the Apple Store yet because officially bent iPhone 6's are NOT covered by warranty. I understand the frustration with that but the employees are not wrong to deny service since they don't want to get fired, but I'm sure a manager can make an exception (If you're not a total assdouche about it lol).
