Guys! This is obviously someone trolling. He timed his post quite well too.

He should have directed his issue to Apple and not to a mall repair shop, period!

This thread should be closed.

I had an iPhone 6 and the screen started to up lift. It turns out that it was the battery swelling that was causing the screen to uplift so I had the battery replaced at my local mall. The guy who replaced my phone gave me the old iPhone battery back. Once I got home I pulled the old battery out of the bag and it caught fire in my hand so I had to throw it. It landed on my kitchen floors melting it and causing a huge plume of smoke.

I have been dealing with Apple for almost a month over the phone so they can come good on replacing my floor due to their faulty battery. I have sent in my iPhone 6 and the exploded battery. The apple customer relations representative on the phone says the engineering team is not willing to compensate me for the damage.

This is unbelievable as this is a faulty iPhone battery and Apple should be able to provide compensation for my floor which is costing $3,800.00 to fix. Also, this is a major safety issue as I could have burnt my hand off.

What advice would you recommend?

Curious. Was it “jammed” into a tight spot?

You jacked up twice on this deal.

1) You allowed an unauthorized 3rd party vendor to mess with your phone.

2) You took a swollen battery back home.

Your only recourse is to hire legal counsel and go after the person who replaced your battery, but even then you will likely lose because YOU took the battery home. Negligence hurts...but be glad it didn't kill you or burn down your house. I'd file under your homeowners insurance.

In case someone wants to know what a damaged battery can do, take a look at this, skip to 2:50

And it's probably 3 years old, yeah?

Virtually all old batteries swell and explode, given enough time.

I hate, hate, hate Apple's approach to "vintage" products.

Same. I didn't think it would be such a big deal to have the battery of a product I purchased directly from them, be removed by them, with a proper place to dispose of it. Nothing more. Would have been nice when speaking with the advisor that my product literally could not be serviced by them. Or maybe the website could display a little disclaimer denoting such. Would have saved me a 30 minute drive to New Haven, $5 in parking, and 35 minutes waiting around the Apple store for my genius to slip me that line and wave goodbye to me and my time bomb.

You can't just dispose of the battery in a regular garbage for starters!

I agree, I just don't have an Apple store close by and needed a battery installed asap.

1. There is a mail-in option
2. the fact that ur rocking a Iphone 6 in 2017 and have linoleum flooring..... makes me think you just wanted the cheapest repair...
3. I have the high-end marble flooring and even then it wouldnt cost 3800 dollars to fix the small area you have shown to be effected

It was like having a firework in your hand so I threw it as fast as I could so I didn't get burnt.
[doublepost=1509647786][/doublepost]At the end of the day the battery should not explode randomly... it could have done the same thing to do the store clerk.

He put it in my bag how was I to know any different. I have never had to replace a cell phone battery!
[doublepost=1509647885][/doublepost]Look online you will see various instances where an iPhone 6 has swollen and exploded.
So at end of day if I hold a lit match to my gallon of gasoline with open pour top it should not explode?
Damage lithium Ion batterys should explode. That’s what they do. Your imagination believing that they shouldn’t do that is simply incorrect.
