I'd be very happy if the back of the iPhone 6 is like the 5th gen touch in form. I like the very square edges of my 5S, but it's difficult to hold comfortably without a case. The touch is still very square in form, but has softer, more rounded edges and is really comfortable to hold, even though it's thinner than the 5S.

I like that. It's a nice trade off instead of the iPhone 6 mock ups which are overly rounded and less elegant than the touch or 5S, at least in my opinion.

I hate how the iPhone 6 mock ups bulge at the sides. It doesn't look as nice as the clean lines on the touch.

But then again, they are mock ups after all.

Funny how perspective works in a video. My HTC One X is 6mm wider than the rumors of the iPhone 6, but in the last few seconds of that video the front looks much wider in the hand than my One X does.

Note to Other Would be Hand Models

Trim your nails before you do a video like this. Being a geek doesn't mean you also have to be a slob.

LOL, you beat me to that comment by two minutes. I bugged me so much I couldn't watch the video.

The glass needs to be strong. With all these rumors about this ultra-thin phone, they will need strong components to maintain structural integrity.

Stronger would be nice. My mom did bend here phone nearly in half. See slammed it in the car door. It was amazing the front didn't break but the back bent way back. The problem is to make it stronger it would at extra weight.

Mate, the onus is not on Apple to make your phone being able to resist getting pwnt by a car door.

I don't see the point in this. I'm pretty sure the aluminum on the back will spring right back to its oringal state. Of course apple could make it out of something else but I don't think they will. I just don't think the iPhone 6 will bend at all.

Resistance to frontal impact is somewhat dependent upon flexibility. The more brittle a screen is, the more easily it can shatter. Still, I wouldn't call this a "stress test", it's an unscientific anecdotal video.

As it is clearly stated. There is nothing to verify if this is indeed sapphire. May be Gorilla Glass in the video.

It's pretty easy to figure out, any university chem lab could run it through the spectrometer. Or even easier just shine a light through it and see what its diffraction index is - that would take any physics 101 student about 10 seconds to do. I guess tech journalists never really did that "science thing?"

The iPhone 6 will not be designed to bend at all.

This is a stress test. The more 'give' in a material, the less likely it will be to shatter under impact when dropped.

That's the only point of this video.

When you have a 5.5 inches in your pants you pray it will bend a little :)

the leaks for the 4.7" lead me to think the rumours of only the 5.5" having sapphire are correct and they haven't leaked because they are coming out of a different facility that has more strict security. Once the assemblers get them then I am sure we will see some 5.5" sapphire panels leak

I just want better battery life ... currently down to 40% from intermittent use as I'm at work, connected to wifi, and it was fully charged at 7:30AM (it's 4PM at the moment).
/QUOTE]

That's more likely due to poor service (iPhone pushes hard to show 4-5 bars even when realistically it should be 1 or 2) or your phone never going to standby due to what I like to call notification syndrome (always checking for something new)

Would be great to save some energy while fapping... Anyway I'm praying for solar charger behind the screen or anything that will increase battery life...

Doing nice phone and disabling all theses great gorgeous features to last one day is just nonsense... Anyway I see it coming : 1800 mah battery and all devs should recompile app using metal and 64bits to save energy...

Please Apple surprise me or you will not get my money to finish your campus :)

Does anyone else have a feeling that the mockups are not going to look like anything Apple is going to release?

No. Much of what we're seeing at this stage is very close to the real deal. Any illusions to the contrary, are just that...illusions.

I just noticed edgewise the edges are beveled, in line with rumors of a "curved" front edge profile. I think that's good evidence this is a real part and not a clone or mock part. Sonny, please look up or get someone who knows how to do the calculation to see what it's diffraction index is then we will know immediately if it is going to be sapphire for the 4.7

Nice dog and pony trick, but who bends their phone? Strap the glass to mock-up and lets see if it can survive a 45 degree angle smash on the side walk as-if someone tripped and used their phone to break the fall... or a common 3ft direct drop to concrete. That's real life.

But then again, they are mock ups after all.

The "bulges" on the side are exactly why the iPhone 6 will be much harder to bend than the 5/5S. This shape is the strongest geometry possible in this context. I think overall the iPhone 6 will be the most durable iPhone since the original (which also had a similar shape).

Also I suspect that unlike the mock-up, the front panel will seamlessly complete the curves on the side so that seen from the side the curve will be symmetric.

There's also a part that we haven't seen yet, which is the ring that goes around the front display and hold it in place.

Because the edges of this front panel seems very thin, I think that it may not use the usual plastic/rubber ring used in previous iPhones.

Maybe the gasket ring around the panel will be made of liquid metal and will be fused with the sapphire part. Apple has many patents that cover this.
