iPhone 6 or 6 Plus

I went from a 5 --> 6 --> 6+

I could easily see the PPI difference between the 6 and the 6+. Once in a while, the 6 showed pixels if you looked closely but I have yet to see that on the 6+.

I disagree about the "fish out of water comment". Coming from a 5, it's a huge luxury to have this screen real estate. More like a fish that moved out of a plastic cup and into a 50 gallon tank!
I did the same thing about a 2 weeks ago and I'm not feeling bad with my decision at all I loved my 6 and I love my 6+ both great phone but to me the 6+ was a better upgrade from the 5s imo. I have relatively large hands and the. Y+ feels just fine and it is a biggish phone but not that big if you have used and of the modern smartphones with 5+ inch screens it is about the same just taller minus the note 3 or 4 and a few others this is all IMO

I tried both the 6+ and the 6....I ended up keeping the 6.

If the 6+ had some serious advantages (aka a more powerful processor or better graphics chip) I may have kept it. But ultimately there wasn't enough gain over the regular 6 to keep the 6+ . You will get a slightly better battery (if all you use it for is talking than it's substantially better but who does that these days anyways?). The increased resolution wasn't really a deal breaker for me the 6 resolution is high enough that it won't be grainy. Anything past that is kind of pointless unless your holding the screen up to your nose and comparing the two. They have identical cameras except for the added optical image stabilization on the 6+ (a nice perk, but again not needed since the 6 camera is excellent and I would use my regular DSLR for any serious photography anyways).

For me it came down to the size....coming from android I already had a large phone so both versions weren't much of a shock to me. I found that it was pretty much impossible to use the 6+ with one hand, it had to be held with 2 hands to reach everything and not risk being dropped. I have pretty big hands so this issue will be even worse with smaller hands. I also do a lot of running and I didn't feel comfortable with a phone that big in my pocket/hands while exercising. For anyone one that wears jeans on the smaller side the iPhone 6+ is going to cause you a lot of headache. The 6 felt like it had the perfect footprint, not too small but small enough that I could manage it with one hand when needed. And with the same performance as its big brother I knew i wasn't missing out on much. I charge it when I sleep it and lasts me the full day with no problems with mixed use. Mostly music streaming and internet browsing with mixed mobile gaming.

Obviously this comes down to personal preference and some people will love their 6+ but they use their phone in different ways. Having to use 2 hands for everything was a deal breaker for me, I have an iPad for that ;).

My 2 cents.

P.S : I chuckle every time I see a really small person with Galaxy Note size phone up to their heads, and the phone covers most of their head...does that make me a bad person? =S Reminds me of a spoof where they showed someone using an iPad as a phone lol.

I went into AT&T for a 6 but ended up buying a 6+ against my better judgement. I used it for 2 days and I ended up returning it. I have a 6 on order with Apple currently. The plus was just beautiful but it just felt too big for my use. I think it just depends on your preference. My phone is used mainly for calls, texting, and FaceTime so the 6 was just a better fit all around because I still value portability over a bigger screen. Everyone needs to decide for themselves as to which one they prefer.

Go for the 6. The size of the 6 plus, is too cumbersome to use it on the go and one handed. A smartphone should be comfortable used on the go.

The 6 plus has nice screen and very good battery life. But ask yourself why so many people and even phablets manufacturers care so much about the one handed use ( reachability, samsung note has one handed features). Because a smartphone should be easy used one handed.

Phablets is not for everyone.

Tried both models in-store. Compared to my 5s, the thinness of the 6 makes it possible to use with one hand. Not quite as easy as the 5s, but still reasonably comfortable. I also tried the 6 in my pant pocket. Here too, it's bigger than my 5s, but not unreasonably so. I had no problem slipping the phone in and out of my pocket, although with a case I can see greater difficulty.

The 6 Plus on the other hand, I simply could not comfortably use with one hand. Even double tapping the home button to bring the top of the screen closer felt awkward and kludgey. And I could not easily fit the 6 Plus into my pant pocket. Sure, I can work the phone into my pocket eventually. But, why would I want to? The larger screen size is impressive, but the tradeoffs on basic ergonomics and usability on the go aren't worth it to me.

Go with the 6 Plus. At least give it a try; that's what my wife and I did. There's no going back now. The screen real estate is just awesome. Perfect.

Check out the 6+

At an Apple store if you can. I am used to big phones, so 6+ size is not an issue. Hold it and 6 and check them out side by side. It just may be too big and the 6 more suitable for you. The 6+ is big but offers a slightly better screen, a few more hours of battery life and optical image stabilizer. The 6 is no slouch either. The good thing is you got 14 days to try one out and if you don't like it you can return it.

I've checked it and the 6 Plus feels very big, perhaps too big.

I don't have 14 days to try it. I don't live in the U.S. The cheapest iPhone 6 here in Brazil costs US$ 1,300 and, once I buy it, it's mine forever and I cannot take it back nor exchange it for a different model.

well if you think the 6+ is big then get the 6. you only need to think about one thing - is portability important to you ? if it is then 6 is the only one to get.

I can understand how most women feel the 6+being a handful, but I've had mine for several months and I think it's perfect. Granted, I am a guy but I use my iPad4 less than 1/4 of the time I use to.

I've got 6+, but I still operate my phone while driving (only in slow traffic though, 20kph and below).

And I feel safe doing it because I rely on Mercedes's lane keeping function, pedestrian detection and automatic braking (works for pedestrians and vehicles).

This is dumb, being on your phone period while driving is dumb regardless if your car has all these systems in place. I cant believe some of the comments in this thread... "The 6 Plus sucks for while driving" like really lmao?

I work in an office with a wall charger next to me. On the weekend I can go out for the day, text, odd phone call, shoot video, pics etc and lowest battery I've had at 9pm was 30%.

That is perfectly reasonable. From 6am to 6pm, I usually have 60-70% left on a work day. (Not using charger)

I have a 6. At home I use an iPad or my pc for web stuff, videos etc

No regrets.

At first I thought it was big in the store. Then I thought I would like the 6. But I decided on the plus. Bigger screen+ better battery. I don't regret it a bit

Nice. With my iPhone 5, I am usually out of battery by lunch time.

I tend to think the 6 is big enough for me.

I agree. If you think otherwise, ask yourself this question: would I drive while using the phone in my drive way with my kids running around. If the answer is no, then the answer should be no everywhere else unless you can be sure that no one else is around.

YMMV but I much prefer my 6+ I've had for a month now over the 6 I had for two.

I doubt that'll change in another month with 6+. FWIW, 6+ feels insane in stores and when you have it in real world use, I find it easier to adjust. Then again, I had a Nexus 5 and Galaxy nexus so it's not like I've never had a big screen phone before '6 series' if you will.

Sure it's not one-handable like 6, but 6 is almost not one hand able to me and I adjusted to it quick feeling like its not that much bigger than the 5 in a negative way.

the 6+ I appreciate the 1080p, I nailed the screen lottery first time though, I've seen beautiful and really meh iPhone 6 screens (mostly meh), but still that ppi and size and quality of the 5.5" screen if you get a good one, it still wows me.

Also, I use the heck out of OIS and don't want to ever be without it again, having used 6 without and 6+ with, even though they're same optics. Much easier to get sharp shots, and in certain situations, only way to.

And last but certainly not least, battery life is no slouch. Something that I could workaround with 5, but now feel way better about.

I'm a phablet fan!
