Not everyone has rich parents or a money tree.

It's the going rate here. How many people have iPhones on this forum? Like 95%+?? Well so do I, and sadly I had to pay for it. Plus I'm 42 and my parents have long since ceased buying me things (*other than socks).

If Apple sells the larger iPhone 6 at a thousand, I am sure Samsung and others will jump for joy. Other makers already have reached larger sized screens, ability to add cards and more. Of course Apple has its fans and a decent looking OS for the iPhone but for some (of us) we look for best bang for the buck and ease of use. Let's see how the iPhone 6 handles, the newer OS and if Apple decides to stop hamstringing their own products to keep us tied into their "eco" system.

So you have a money tree. The point is $1,000 is a lot of money, and most people don't pay full price up front for their devices here.

Um, the Samsung S5 costs $930 over here, and so does the HTC One M8. The 16GB iPhone 5S is the same price, mine cost more due to the fact it's the 32GB version. This is rip-off Britain and we pay through the nose for everything.

I'm well aware it's a lot of money. That's why I don't buy a new phone every 12 months.

My last iphone 5S 64GB cost me $930 after all the taxes. $849 and sales tax! So what the big deal? Another $150 for a 5.5" size. That reasonable!

Just to clarify i agree that it sounds a bit too far fetched, i just wondered on peoples opinions, would you still buy it? does a 5.5" interest you that much?
personally i'm going to wait and see what the 4.7" is like and hopefully at the same time the 5.5" will be announced even if its not released at the same time. I would prefer the choice even if i didn't buy the 5.5"

I likely may get the 4.7" model if I were in the market for a new iphone (using a 5s here, so likely springing for the 6s next year). Nothing against the 5.5, I just feel it's too big for me.

That said, I would probably still pay. I don't think I am that price sensitive with regards to Apple products.

I'm from the UK so price points are a little different, the iPhone 5s starts at £549 for a 16GB model. If Apple stick with that for the iPhone 6 4.7" and maybe raise the price of the 5.5" by about £100 then it won't be a big deal. But i think if they were to rise the price to £1000 that would be a big jump from £549. I think Apple will raise the price but i don't think it will be by that much. They did it with the iPhone 5 and it was by about £50.

I will be interested to see the 5.5" but if its too big then i'll stick with a 4.7" I think its all about giving people the choice.

Maybe it might be $1,000 unlocked with 64 GB. I don't think it'd be that much on contract though.

I dont think it sounds too farfetched. Apple is increasing the quality with sapphire materials and such so they can charge a higher price and increase revenue this is good for pulling in new investors as well with the revenue increase number. I dont even have to mention the fact that everyone is going to buy it and we know it.

If it costs much more than a flagship HTC, Samsung or SONY device then why should people buy it?
Only die-hard Apple fans will buy it and the bigger screen is all about getting Android owners onboard isn't it?

Honestly I don't care what it cost...I had been waiting at least 4 years now for a larger screen iphone.

I think this is the most logical way of the pricing the new line up. I think they may also keep the 4.0"

Subsidized

4.0" $99/$199/$299
4.7" $199/$299/$399
5.5" $299/$399/$499

Retail
4.0" $599/699/799
4.7" $699/799/899
5.5" $799/ 899/999

I've just seen this, a report that claims the iPhone phablet version which is said to be 5.5" will cost over $1000  if true and its a BIG IF, what do you guys think?

http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/5514...-release-date-specs-features.htm#.U2pAOV46EYU

In pound sterling that's £600 (£594.16 to be precise).

That's £50 more than the price of a 16GB iPhone 5s.

Apple will probably put the price up but they do that anyway. It's not really a biggie.

And in the end, it doesn't matter, people will buy the iPhone 6 regardless of the price and that includes me.

One final thing! This is the 5.5-inch (which, by the way, I'm 90% sure doesn't exist, like many people think) we are talking about. More phone, more money.

That's a very good point, it would be around £600 with the current exchange. I would be willing to pay that for the iPhone 6, especially if it has a Saphire screen that itself would be worth it.

What makes you think there won't be a 5.5" iPhone 6? i would be happy with a 4.7" but it would be nice to have the choice of a 5.5"

Yeah, having a sapphire screen would be really good.

The 5.5-inch? That's a funny one. I know we've seen a couple of "alleged" parts but I don't think it will be released anytime soon. That's what I should of said in my original post, that we won't see it this year.

Anyway, not long to wait now.

I'm guessing the 4.7"er will be around the same price as the present IP5. IF the quoted prices in this thread are anyway close, it will be a "PRESSURE" move to convert customers to plans such as ATT's "Family Plan".

The 5S costs something like $700 off contract in the US, so it would be an extra $300 for the i6 5.5" if this leak is to be believed. I very much doubt that the UK would see it for the same price as the US do, seeing how the price of their 16GB 5S is approx £415.

£415? Where did you get that from? A 16GB iPhone 5s SIM-free costs £549.

If the 4.7" is the only one, i still wouldn't mind paying £600 for it, an extra £50 would be a respectable increase, especially if its going to have a Sapphire screen.

Any idea what the 5s/64GB costs in China?
According to Apple Store China:
  • 16GB RMB 5288 (~$855)
  • 32GB RMB 6088 (~$985)
  • 64GB RMB 6888 (~$1,115)

Those are 31-32% higher than US MSRP. Going by that, if the new phablet is estimated to cost the equivalent of $1,000 in China, that translates to around $700 US.
