Is no one else impressed that the screen did not crack and the phone still is functioning!? The bending should not happen, I agree 100% but show me other devices that still work after being bend like that.

He followed up and said the screen cracked upon trying to straighten the device back. So if your phone is bent, leave it bent.

Well done. No scratch on a phone thats 5 days old

Well, considering that the phone has always been terrible prone to scratches . . . .and I don't know . . . .

The fact that some idiots are BENDING their phones that are five days old.

I think it's something to note

Then again, it's not like you added anything to conversation so never mind.

I cant see how apple is going to sort this out, (if they do at all). A quick re mix of a new aluminium alloy? What will happen with all the millions of phones already out there?

How about nothing. Not that I wouldn't mind having a refurbished phone that may not bend in my pocket, this whole issue seems more moot than antennae-gate. At least the latter effected the usage of the phone and was nearly ubiquitous with the entire line.

By the time most normal people with common sense care it'll be time to either upgrade or use the AppleCare warranty, or just whine at some teenage Genius Bar tech to get a replacement phone.

What you mention is just useless. A new mix of aluminum?

Next test: putting your iPhone 6 in a pre-heated oven to see how long it takes to bake till crispy. In other words: I find bending aluminum with bear fingers (yes: bear, look at those fingers) and calling it a "test" for "scientific" reasons is eff-ing ridiculous.

The lengths of stupidity people go to to get video hits and earn off YouTube ads! Sigh.

Not really stupid on his part. He'll make enough to buy multiple iPhones off of this video.

I love to see this guys degree in engineering. So how much force was that exactly? I don't think he will be getting a call from Apple. Oh ya and can he send that back using insurance? Just stupid.

Sitting on a pair of sunglasses not part of what they are designed for...

But i think most if not all people think that a common idea of a mobile phone is to transport it around with you in a pocket. If the product is not able to withstand the stress which is applied to it during the means of transport which it is commonly understood to be the norm, then the product is indeed flawed.

Phones aren't designed to be sat on. Common sense will keep your phone straight.

I know it's hard to believe but even with Apple's billions of dollars they cannot defy science and make their phones out of unbendable metal.

They most assuredly can……Have you forgotten the Stainless Steel of the iPhone 4/4S…..try to bend that.

WHY THE HECK ARE PEOPLE DOING THIS TO PHONES

6's are harder to find than hen's teeth around here, and guys are chucking them at the ground and bending them on purpose.

I know why they are doing it, just let a brother vent.

It's a first world thing.

Although I do agree. The most indestructible phone I've ever had was the HTC EVO 4G and that thing took a beating without a scratch. I used it with no case, but it did creak if I bent it slightly and that was just to take the battery cover off.

No reason at all to bend your phone.

I have to question the nature of some folk's pockets.

And how many people after hearing that there was bending problems actually pulled theirs out and tried to bend it?

I would wager quite a bit. Even i took it out of my pocket, then out of the case and put it on a flat surface with the camera lens hanging off.

Not a warp.

Phones aren't designed to be sat on. Common sense will keep your phone straight.

I've sat on my iPad Mini (it fits in my back pocket), and my Note 2 and HTC EVO 4G.

I'm just not that much of an @$$ to think that if I damage it that way it's somehow Apple's fault.

Can we complain about real issues now? Like iOS 8?

Phones are designed to be carried - probably in a pocket (where else?). They should be able to withstand a little pocket pressure and to be honest, even from the back pocket.

Like has been said in this thread before, the 5/5c phones don't bend in a back pocket - this is something Apple should address

Apple's possible replies:

"You're putting it in your pocket wrong."
"You're sitting on it wrong."
"You're bending it wrong."

They most assuredly can……Have you forgotten the Stainless Steel of the iPhone 4/4S…..try to bend that.

It can happen. Which is another reason why this thread is rather moot.

I wear skinny jeans a lot and when I have no jacket on I put my iPhone 5 in my jeans pocket. My iPhone is in perfect condition aka straight as an arrow. Naturally I wouldn't be sticking iPhone 6 in my pockets but nonetheless iPhone 5/5S are seriously robust phones. Unfortunately Apple's everlasting chase for thinner and thinner phones has lead to a situation in which thicker phone is more versatile then a thin phone.

So much Kool-aid drinking fanboys here at MacRumors. This is a huge design flaw. This isn't necessarily the outcome of hipster jeans or sitting on phones in the back pocket.

I had an iPhone 5 that bent after two months of wearing in loose-fitting scrubs or white coat pocket. Never the back pocket, never sat on, never fell once, kept in a case. First I got sim card errors, and then the phone just stopped working. Apple Geniuses refused to accept that this was the product of casual usage.

After being without an iPhone for the past year, my 6 finally arrived. An Otterbox couldn't arrive sooner. Let's hope that keeps my phone straight for longer than two months this time around. Let's also hope Apple addresses this, and gives up the silly quest of achieving the thinnest phones.

There were pics of 4/4S's and pretty much every other metal smartphone being bent with excessive pressure being applied to them. It can be done. Some people just don't have common sense when it comes to using their $800 devices.

People squeezing their massive metal phones into pockets where it clearly doesn't fit, sitting on it for hours, bending it, then blaming the manufacturer reminds me of the people who blamed McDonald's for making them fat.

Seriously people . . . . just use the internet.

YES with bare hands these things aren't made from diamonds or polycarbonate.

It's just aluminum and plastic and glass . . . . all very very breakable with a drop or a bend or with hands.

Can you point me to another video that shows an iPhone, HTC anything, Samsung anything..being bend with bare hands?

Another question, if other iPhones had a bending problem, why weren't they as publicised as this one has become so far?

Furthermore, if it seems to be a problem, what is wrong with calling apple out on it? Should they not be held accountable? Phones are bending just being in pockets, I am sure people are not just changing there usage patterns for this phone..so why wasn't it a problem for these same people with an iPhone 5s or 5?

I love how putting a 6+ in either your front or rear pockets is against "common sense" around here.

I'm not sure it should be qualified as a "phone" if you have to transport it in travel luggage.

When ones applies a force enough to bend metal, metal will bend. Can anyone simplify this one for me with an equation governing this anomaly?

If some does simplify that equation could they please send it to Apple.
