There's no reason to expect otherwise because Apple doesn't sell certified refurbished iPhone on its website. You'll only find "A replacement iPhone will be new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability" as they're only offered as a warranty or out of warranty replacement.

I am reminded of the saying that everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts. :rolleyes: Nothing is going to convince someone who chooses to ignore facts in favor of his own contrary beliefs.
 
I also wonder if they would let me pay $129 to keep my old phone that they claimed not working after replacing the screen.

No from my knowledge, its either you can get a replacement for $329 or none at all, they know people will try to do this to fix the broken one themselves and sell it for a profit.
 
I can't believe that this process is so secret that there are so many viewpoints. I've heard they are new, I've heard they are refurbished, honestly I don't know what to believe (luckily for me I don't care as long as it's in wonderful condition and works like it should) this seems to be a bigger mystery then is there really gold at fort knoxs.
